Well not really great. Half of the burger was pink. Called the waitress over and asked for my money back. She offered to get me another burger which I wasn't hungry anymore....I was told that "we don't give money back" and that I would get "a gift certificate, and that our cook was new". No apologies Look we all have bad days, but the manager was rude, and wasn't being clear with what she was saying, talking over me, which made us think even more as to why would I want to come back when they don't treat the customer right? This is my local ice cream joint within easy walking distance from my house. As a bonus the food is good and everything is priced well. It has a 50s vibe with music to match. There are plenty of high chairs and booster seats. They carry Umpqua ice cream. Recently I popped in to split a grilled cheese and French fries with my daughter which set my back $4.35. Just like what I grew up on. During the summers this place can be packed. I need to remember to come here more in the off season since the food is so tasty. Have been to this business many times. Never have I had a bad experience here. For me and my kids this is a go to location for a good burger and a milkshake that is not fast food. Started coming here over a years go. It was so good!! But they got rid of the normal real French fries and now serve ones that have a chemical taste and texture. Absolutely awful. For a couple days last week they went back to the old ones which were great. But had lunch today and the awful fries are back. I guess I won't be going back anytime soon. It's really too bad. This place is truly a gem Really though- the service and staff were super friendly and helpful answering questions. I had the patty melt and fries, and hubby had a single patty hamburger and fries as well. The hamburger was moist and well cooked, and the fries were hot and had just the right amount of crispness. The young ladies who worked behind the counter were friendly and helpful, and were quick to retrieve needed items to go with our meals. Pleasantly surprised by this place, but keep in mind it is a 'classic' diner so don't expect anything fancy. I had the pastrami burger and curly fries which were both quite good and my wife enjoyed her grilled cheese and sweet potatoes fries. All in all the meal was cheaper and tastier than the more established burger chain in the are we tried the previous week. Your basic 50s ice cream and burger shop. The decor and music are all from the period. The food was decent, the shakes very good, and the service was very good. My clan caused a mini-rush and they brought another team member up to deal with the rush. Well done. We ordered a garden burger and malted shake which were both very good. I have been coming here for years and have always had the best service. The owner always contributes so much to the community, but when I was there earlier with my family I observed some discrimination. A gentleman brought his dog into the restaurant and was in the process of ordering food when he was asked to wait outside while his food was prepared because of their dog who was calmly laying on the floor while they ordered. The gentleman identified the dog as their service dog when approached. The dog was not causing any undue hardship to the other customers or the flow of the staff to perform their jobs. Our first time here and we wanted to love this "hometown favorite" but... it's kinda dirty and the servers are completely clueless. We ordered 2 milkshakes which one gal worked on for 20 minutes. She had no idea what she was doing. She ended up throwing half of one away and it was served a runny mess. In the same 20 minutes, with a line now forming out the door, the other gal managed to make only 2 cones which were also served in the same messy way - ice cream everywhere, blobs of one flavor going into the tubs of neighboring flavors after it slides off the top of the glass case where she was holding up the cone. Then she handles money, then she barely runs her hand under the faucet and starts the next order. Kudos to them for serving good ice cream at reasonable prices, but the rest is total chaos. I really wanted to love Jem 100. We went for the first time today and noticed the place was very busy. It was about 5:30 on a Tuesday night. We waited a while to order, and then waited a long while for onion rings- about 30 minutes. Our milkshakes were forgotten and we had to ask for them again. The people behind the counter were all nice and helpful, but I noticed they didn't wear any gloves and when one person's eyes started to water, she wiped them on her shirt and went back to working without washing her hands. My son was disturbed by the condition of the place- there is a big gash in the ceiling above the food prep area- but I suppose that's what an older building will do. We will probably stop by again- like I said, I really want to love this little throwback diner. I loved that everyone was so friendly and love that they employe young kids too. read more

I'll start by saying that I do not really like giving bad reviews and am always frustrated by whiny reviewers. I have been here many times with my family and would probably frequent much more often if our experiences were better. I have had their burgers which are very basic and seem to be a big complaint. They could be improved with better ingredients, meat, cheese, and buns to start. You can't go wrong with a corndog and the curly fries are always good, a slighty bigger portion would be nice though! The ice cream is great, have always loved Umpqua and they have some flavors that are not easy to find. I actually talked my family out of DQ tonight because I wanted a flavor that they ended up being out of. I was happy to discover a new flavor that was equally delicious. We came in 45 minutes before closing and 1/3 of the flavors they said were in the back and the cases were very disorganized, probably because they had started their closing duties way too early. Yes, they still weigh the ice cream (do the owners care about these reviews at all?) I feel like the scooper and experience of the employee should be good enough for portion control. My big complaint and main reason for review was the service! The 2 girls working were not friendly and seemed to be extremely concerned about closing duties. The cook was "throwing" orders up at the window without saying a thing. I grabbed my fries and when I came back for ketchup she seemed to think it was available somewhere for me to grab: when she realized it wasn't she seemed annoyed that she had to grab it and set it down hastily, again not saying anything. A simple "here you go" would have sufficed. My last recommendation would be for a complete remodel of the place. I don't find the ancient tables and ripped up booths patched together with duct tape very charming. Peeling paint and pieced together cracked up old linoleum that appears old enough to contain asbestos is screaming for some attention. I am left with the impression that the owners are very cheap and while I can appreciate frugality, I think it is hurting their business and it will only get worse over time. 3 stars at the time of this review is not good, especially in a town that is so supportive of the local businesses. Overall I think employee selection and training with manager level positions for each shift, better burgers, and a remodel would turn this place around. I would happily pay more for better food, decent portions, and most importantly good service! 2 Stars because I will probably be back sometime and the curly fries and ice cream taste good! read more

These people at Jem 100 really know how to make a burger! I was visiting my parents for my birthday and they took me here and I swear on SeaWaWa this food is the best. The burgers are deliciously seasoned and juice, but not overwhelmingly juicy. The staff are friendly. And I can't forget the fries!!
