Nothing beats the hot rocks massage and scalding paraffin wax on the feet I had the privilege of having Tony do my pedi and he was the best I've had there thus far. 10/10 took his time and was detail oriented with the gel application. Their service is customized, Jen noticed I tend to wait 3-4 weeks to come back so she made sure the white was deep enough to still look great weeks from now. This place is absolutely filthy with zero ventilation. There is dirt and grime everywhere, and their tools are most certainly NOT sanitized. Oh, and their two dogs have free reign of the place; their food and pee pads are proudly on display. I paid $52 for a no chip pedi with removal and it only lasted a whopping 21 minutes. She couldn't have flown through the process any quicker if she tried. When I asked about the breakdown of the cost she got angry with me, threw the pen on the desk, and stormed away. I've been coming to Jen nails for six years. Every time I visit the staff is wonderful and helpful (especially picking out colors)! I'm writing because today Jen exceeded my expectations! I chipped my fill I had done last week. I came in to get it fixed or to get a new set. Although they were busy (Thanksgiving traffic), Jen took me herself and fixed my nail immediately. When I went to pay (it was my fault my nail chipped), she said "no charge, I'm happy to fix it". Jen then said have a great holiday. Jen is kind and helpful. She has won me over time and time again. I love going to get me nails done. Tu does the full and Helen does the design free hand. They look great!! Helen also gives a great Spa pedicure. The reason I am not giving them 5 stars is they are a little pricey. The price doesn't change even if you buy and bring in your own gel polish. The first pedicure I had wasn't even worth the money it was like he washed my feet then painted my toes. The 2nd one was very relaxing but I don't think it should have cost as much as it did. I know other places that charge less for the same pedicure as the 2nd one and to them it's normal to do all that not extra for the massage. read more

I am always hesitant to try a new nail salon but I broke a nail while I was away from my normal stomping grounds. After reading through reviews, I decided to give this place a try and I wasn't disappointed. I walked in intending to get an acrylic fill and explained that I wanted regular polish and not gel. Unlike other random salons I've tried, they did not pester or try to pressure me into upgrading. That automatically earned brownie points for them. Upon sitting down, the nail tech looked at my nails and told me I didn't need a fill -- that my nails were still great. All I needed was the recolor and repair. They could have gone through with the fill to get more money but he was honest. He pointed out a nail that my normal tech would need to address in the near future and then repaired my thumb nail quickly and painlessly. He listened when I asked him just to file it down and not lift it because I don't like that process and was incredibly gentle and professional. He did a tidy job with the color, didn't waste my time or money, and was also highly professional. I was pleasantly surprised with the experience. Jen does an ok job, unfortunately she lets her ego get in the way. She is not open to suggestions and easily gets offended when you try and tell her how you would like your nails done. That is not a good way to treat paying customers. She also doesn't treat her clients equally. She likes to show off that she knows her regular clients by name while ignoring a client sitting right in front of her. I drove an hour (one-way x 2 = 2 hours roundtrip) to have her do my nails because I am familiar with her work (I no longer live in the area) and I didn't want to try someone new. She was rude and never spoke one word to me. She should treat all customers equally... first time clients, long-term clients and everything in-between. read more

I recently was in town again and decided to give the dip another try, which I so regret. I've gotten dip manicures in my hometown and have NEVER had this issue. Came in for gel nails and with the no chip it was $50 so pretty expensive but the girl I worked with spoke good English so it was easy to talk to her and she understood what I wanted and helped me out a lot. She did a really nice job. I went around 11:15 am on a Tuesday and there was no wait I sat right down and it wasn't busy at all. I didn't make an appointment either just walked in. The building is nice and pretty. The lady wasn't to Rough or anything so it was pretty relaxing. Went in for a no chip. Person was not personable asked what color and shape. No hello no goodbye,but carried on talking to other people. No cuticle cream they put on before you soak them that they use to cut your cuticle. The soaking water was cold. I felt like it was a rushed job. Paying was a pain if you used your debit card or CC CARD you could not leave a tip. You need to leave cash, Venmo or Zelle. No signs upfront state that, if that was the case I would've brought cash or went and got cash while I was waiting. I think for 37 dollars and a 10 dollar tip, the service could be better. read more

I get the gel overlay French tip and I have to say getting this done at Jen is the longest nails have ever lasted me me without cracking or peeling! Their prices are also very reasonable in comparison to other salons I have been to. All of the technicians are always very pleasant and Jen herself is super nice each time we have gone there. WOW!!! Jen is one of the most friendly nail techs I have ever met. This isn't even my regular salon. I came in unexpectedly when I broke one of my nails. I travel far to get my nails done and when I completely broke my nail - It was an emergency and Jen repaired my nail right away. She didn't even charge me. Was very disappointed. I received a gift card for Christmas and went into get my nails done. When I went to pay I was told that I couldn't use my gift card because the money used to purchase the gift card was counterfeit. After speaking with the person who bought me the gift card I realized I have just been scammed. The person who purchased the gift card just left the bank and paid with money directly from the bank. The business really should have checked the money before taking $100 from the person who purchased my gift card. So disappointing. Gift card users beware. My experiences at this salon were not good. The finished work itself was good, but that's about it. They have a small and ugly collection of colors to choose from. I struggled to find one. The only Covid protocol I witnessed was they wear masks. They always do that though. I asked my nail tech if I should use sanitizer first and she said I don't need to, but I could if I wanted. Then, she didn't sanitize before touching me. I asked if she uses clean tools and she replied yes. She then pulled out and started filing my nails with a very 'used' nail file. She would pull out tools from her drawer and returned them to her drawer without cleaning them. For the drying of my nails in between and at the end, she used a tiny fan pointed at my nails. After they were all done she told me to leave that fan on my nails for about 15 minutes and left. She never came back to check on me. I stayed and 15 minutes later, my nails were not dried. I had some designs painted on them so I wasn't about to screw them up by leaving too soon. The tech with a client sitting right next to me helped me after I kept mentioning how long it was taking to dry. He said I should put my hands in the UV(?)light for 15 minutes and turned it on for me. I was at that place for so long for just the drying part! What if no one sitting right by me? To end this everlasting nail painting saga, the lady at the register charged me $5 or $10* more than I was quoted when I walked in. I was so tired of being there and kind of stressed out and wanted to leave so I didn't argue. I told myself I would never go there again. After this I asked my friend who lives in the far west suburbs what her salon does. She told me they use pre-packaged tools for each person, opens it in front of you and when you're done says you can either take it home with you or they'd toss it. I felt so disgusted after hearing about her great experience and also because I did nothing about my issues right away as they were happening. But my pedicure was horrible. It felt rushed. The massage was not relaxing. My bottom of my feet were not well scrubbed. The nails were not straight and was painted horrible. I staTed I wanted my nails shorter & oval shaped, I was charged extra $3. when I called to ask why, was told due to shape & that she cut them down. I NEVER told her to cut them down so short, I stated just shorter, she could have filed them down. . I also asked not to be so thick, they are very thick. They never use to charge for every single thing. it's really a shame. So today I wanted to give Jen nails I try. I am a new customer and didn't know what to expect. I asked for a basic pedicure with gel instead of regular polish. The price for a basic pedicure was $30, and I didn't ask how much extra the gel would be (that's my fault) when I went to pay the nail tech told me the total is $75. I was totally shocked. I have never in my life paid that much for a pedicure with gel. I asked the tech why it Why so expensive and she said because you have Gel. I have never felt so disrespected at a salon before. I had been going to Jen Nails regularly since October, and this isn't the first time at Jen Nails that I have been treated rudely. I wouldn't have gone back, but my husband got me a gift card for Christmas before I could tell him I didn't want to go there again. I had an appointment for first thing in the morning. I got there right on time and didn't wait long before I was given a station. A tech came over and gave me a cursory book of colors to look through, not the big basket. Jen did suggest a color from my interest, but I really felt rushed. After starting my appointment, the tech abruptly told me to move stations, and her regular appointment was there! I waited 20 minutes for Jen to complete her appointment before she could come finish mine! She told me they were short staffed, but why was I the one that was booted out of my appointment?? I have had similar issues twice now. I was given more colors to look through, but honestly, I was so upset by this time that I couldn't even pick other colors. Jen finished my nails and then walked away with half-hearted apologies. To add another insult to this issue, they overcharged me for the service.
