I want to start this review with the staff busts there to meet all customers needs. That is evident and bravo. My daughter got a cheese pizza. I was impressed with it because I am vegan but was hungry and snacked on three pieces. I didn't have diarrhea which is highly unusual for when I eat cheese. It was baked cheese and was quite tasty, and evidently safe for my vegan bowels. However, the salad I ordered without feta. The dressing had apparent meat in it. I just didn't think to ask about meat in dressing but feel other compassionate diet customers should know. Love the building and ambiance. It reminded me of my grandmother and Wisconsin in the 80s. Food: the meatball sub was mostly bread, and the meatballs were dry. The bread was good. We ordered Jay's pizza. It was mediocre. The crust was decent and the toppings were plentiful. The sauce was lackluster. I've had worse pizza, and I've had much, much better. Service: the woman who took our order on the phone was incredibly rude. Jeno's is now under new ownership and the menu is still the same with good down to earth diners vibe and decent Italian/American food. For cheap. Have been coming here for years. Grab a table and they will come to you. Lots of locals trickle in so it can't be bad. The 80's style bar in the back I have never gone in to but you can tell it's a locals favorite and the bar serves drinks for people at the restaurant and vice versa if bar customers want food. Love their small green salads in 80's wooden bowl it's nostalgia in a bowl I asked for no cheese but either way it's the best salad with yummy honey mustard dressing and love it's very crouton forward. Love the good helping of fresh condiments with the $12.99 cheeseburger and $12.99 chicken sandwich platter. Their grill is well seasoned so their burgers always taste amazing! I was most impressed by their willingness to accommodate my dietary restrictions for free with a smile. I also like to get their veggie grinder minus cheese. Nicely toasted and loaded with fresh veggies. So good! Breakfast is decent they serve Cafe Darte brand drip coffee now and the servers are good about keeping the cups filled. The breakfast menu is small but good enough for most breakfast go-ers. A couple who's new to the area was impressed with their classic egg/bacon or ham or sausage/toast/hashbrown breakfast for only $10.99 and turkey sandwich lunch with soup or side for 10.99. They don't open til 10am on weekdays (8am on weekends). I love their veggie omelette $14.99 (minus cheese) loaded with grilled veg and perfectly executed hash browns. They do one bread slice toast instead of two which is fine since two is too much carbs it cuts down on food waste. Love coming here takes me back to the 80-90's homey and laid back place to go without breaking your wallet. I have relatives from Seattle who look forward to getting their famous Jeno's large combo pizza and baked spaghetti with spare ribs when they are in town. If you can eat bad, their hot fries, cheesy bread, chicken strips with honey mustard are good as a snack. They take cards now but the old cash machine is still there! Servers are very nice and part of the neighborhood ambience! Hope they do DoorDash soon I see there's clover delivery not sure if it's in effect. They have lunch specials on the board on weekdays sometimes have off menu items like shrimp melt and side. They have AC now during summer months. I see they offer gluten free crust option for their pizza's. As always, they serve store bought pies, ice creams, cookie and sundae basic desserts and there's always a soup of the day. We have always loved jenos and I totally understand new ownership takes a while. Our food was cold, not cooked in the middle, no manicotti noodles and they charge 50 cents for to go boxes and forgot our pie. I would have stuffed more food in my box then be surprised when i get the check. Also a high surcharge for using a card. read more

I don't know what is going on recently, but your food quality and/or ingredients used have changed a lot and not been the restaurant I've been going to for well over a decade+. You're an Italian restaurant and have been out of Italian dressing twice now, it's kind of an oxymoron... Whatever changes and new people you have, need to get it together. Because this has been mine and my families favorite restaurant for so long, but not so much anymore. When someone can't get a salad with Italian dressing from an Italian restaurant, there's something wrong. Or order a pizza they've ordered for over 10 years, but it's not even cut properly (in restaurant or pick up), the sauces on stuff has changed, etc, etc. This is supposed to be a family owned and high quality restaurant, but it's not anymore. Regardless of changes, things should be up to par. Very disappointing, to say the least. Nasty food went in for the beef tip spaghetti and it was so foul the price was ok but the food was not I will not go here again.

I loved dining at Jeno's with my granddaughter. We arrived late but I could have enjoyed just sitting for much longer than the time we had! My granddaughter loved the chicken Parm and I decided to try something different. I had never heard of ribs and spaghetti on an Italian memo, but to say it was delicious does this meal a disservice! I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful, and the portion was large enough for lunch the next day! Service was good, attentive but not hovering and we were not rushed to leave because of the hour. The only other Italian restaurant I've tried in Monroe is Tuscano's which is much pricier and not nearly as tasty!! Highly recommend! read more

Hmm. This place isn't bad, but... Think of a 1970s era Pizza Hut. Now, make it family owned. Keep the decor. Keep the overly cheesy food (with a nice red sauce made in house). Add some American food items to the menu. Americanize a few of the Italian pasta dishes with some oven cooked ribs (that taste like pork roast). Make sure this (plus all the excess cheese) makes the pasta dishes overly greasy. Ensure many of the menu items are not made in house. Instead, unpack them from the freezer bag, put in dish, pour over some in-house made red sauce, cover with some (excess amounts of) cheese, cook. MANY of the items on the menu follow this pattern. Italian restaurants should have all in-house made dishes--not pre-made dishes. Make a big pizza menu, and make the crust in house. It's that hard bread crust that's neither thin nor thick. Just like a 1970s Pizza Hut. Accept only cash (in 2019!!!!). Have a very funky (but fun) space that's part Pizza Parlor, part speak easy/1970s lounge, and part scary looking long hallway. Have 1970s orange colors everywhere. So, I think we'll pass in the future. read more

I took a chance and was nicely rewarded. I got there minutes before the lunch busyness. I got great service and excellent food at a very reasonable price. The lasagna with meatballs was wonderful. I just wish that the pasta dishes came with a side salad too. The included garlic bread was very good. The dining room could use a little more dusting especially near the windows. read more

What a great throwback this place is. When you walk in, you're pretty sure it must still be 1967, because that's the last time it was re-decorated. But this is not a bad thing. The only thing this restaurant focuses on is the food. It's not fancy, but it's hearty and well done. They have great pies and their pizza is a local favorite. Here's a pro tip though, it's cash only! This family run business hasn't evolved with the times in any possible way, except to add an ATM machine inside so you can access your cash if you forgot to bring some. If you're in Monroe, stop by for breakfast lunch or dinner, and try out the bar in the back just for some fun. read more

This place has lost any class that it had, ever since one of the owners past away we won't ever go back there. The tacky parties in the bar, the diminished quality of food and they don't keep the same values the owner once held....they frequently change out wait staff and the one thing we used to get there ( grinders ) last stop didn't even have cheese on them and we had to ask for mayo which we never did before. One visit the waitress openly admitted the Luke warm soup we had had been pulled from the fridge and dumped from the soup pot into a cold crock pot and when we requested it to go back she rolled her eyes and sighed as she returned the soup to the kitchen but changed her attitude when she was told it's acts health code violation to dump hot soup into a cold crock pot. Prices have increased which is to be expected but obviously they have cut corners on their quality which is a bummer cause we grew up eating there and had family that worked for John and Tina over the years read more

It literally looked and tasted EXACTLY like Chef Boyardee canned ravioli. I mean exactly. Swamped in a bland red sauce that also tasted canned. Few diners there. If you ask the longtime Monroe residents for food recommendations, Jeno's always comes up solid. They're not lying to you, either. This business is owned by a family that is well established in southwest Snohomish County. You can't get more Monroe than this. LOCATION: The restaurant is located in the heart of Old Monroe. Main St used to be the main route heading east into the mountains and west to Snohomish. A lot of history is on this street, but the building housing Jeno's was built 1976, making it one of the newer structures. INDOOR VIBE: The restaurant is old school. It doesn't have all the flashy crap that the chains use to attract business. It doesn't need to. The locals know the food is good and they keep coming back. ATHENS LOUNGE: You may see the Athens Lounge sign when you walk in the front door off Main St. If you head straight back, you'll find the lounge. They tell me not much has changed since the 80s. I'm certainly glad it hasn't. It really is a snapshot of how drinking was back in those days. Without a doubt, this is the local spot where you can talk to long time residents. I'm truly grateful that such a place even exists. ADULT DRINKS: They have a full bar in the back. They also stock everyday drinking wines. They also have a tap selection that features locally made beers and wines. FOOD: Old school. The family is Greek, but they do Italian. This is the type of stick to your ribs southern Italian food here. You won't find scampi here, but you'll have a glimpse of old style family cooking that you would give your left kidney for the recipes. The Friday specials are always good. The most sought after special is the Greek spaghetti which has an amazing whipped topping of some sort. The other solid recommendation is their prime rib over your choice of spaghetti or lasagna. I mostly eat the sandwiches because they're the best in the county. Hands down. As far as breakfast, I've only had the Country Benedict and it was pretty damn good. SERVICE: The service is always friendly. The staff works really hard as this place gets super busy. The bill is always cheap here, so definitely tip extra because they've earned it. I'm glad I took up the recommendations for Jeno's. Now I go there regularly. As the number dwindles of long established family run businesses in this state, I become more grateful for the ones that are still surviving. I don't know the owners or their story but it seems that they quit caring about the place, the food and the customers a while ago. Vintage grime for decor, heavy and greasy for the food and then the I-don't-care-about-customer-convenience cash-only policy screams go away... so I will and I won't be back.
