Stopped by for a weekend dinner with a friend. I was intimidated by the parking lot, which is much skinnier than I was expecting, but found street parking and was helped inside almost immediately. I was also surprised by their menu, which offers a generous happy hour selection. I got a 9er roll and we shared some garlic edamame. It was so good! The fish was delicious and the sauces were flavorful. I got them on the side to control the flavors a bit more, which our waiter was very helpful about. Have been here now a few times and recently came back after a hiatus. It is very easy to drive by and miss this spot because it's off a busier street and has a slightly difficult parking situation, but please check them out! The restaurant is very spacious inside and they have a big menu with lots of options to choose from. They also have a really great happy hour that is everyday fro 2:30pm - 7:00pm! So far I haven't had anything bad here, the food has been fresh and delicious. The most recent time I came with my friend I ordered the 9er roll and we shared the spicy garlic edamame. My roll was filling and delicious, and the edamame was so so good! Not too spicy but very flavorful. Our server Evan was super nice and helpful too in answering questions. The restaurant is located on a really busy street and parking is hectic so keep that in mind. It's located in a small shopping center next to a Boba and pizza place. I've only ever ordered delivery or pick up here and there's never anyone at the front desk which is a little annoying so I have to wait until somebody notices I'm there before I'm able to pick up my order. Aside from these minor things the sushi is so so yummy! This is my go to sushi place even though it's a bit further for me than other sushi restaurants their spam musubi is second to none. I wasn't able to get a picture of it because I get tunnel vision when I have it in front of me lol. The two sushi rolls I got today were really yummy. i've been trying a new role every time I come here, and I swear they never fail. Came here for a much needed comfort meal and alone time. Appreciate the staff and everyone so much. Especially when I'm having a not great day and you get recognized and called by name. It may seem like such a little thing, but was kind of like a hug. As always the food was freaking delicious. Got there 20 min before happy hour was over too! We come here or get to go at least twice a month for the last few years. A few things we always order - mama's chicken wings (salt and pepper style) , salmon skin hand-rolls and the bbq albacore. There are a lot of good different rolls we vary in ordering. Of note is they have amazing happy hour prices from 2:30-7 EVERY DAY. Yes, that includes the weekend. And there are so many items on the happy hour menu. We don't drink but lots of drink specials as well. We also sometimes bring our nephew who eats us out of house and home and this is where I have to recommend the bento boxes. They are HUGE with a ton of food. Affording sushi for a 21 year old athlete is very soendy and the bento biz saves us. Especially because you can order two options! The staff are so nice! They always make great suggestions. Jensai is located on 16th street, across from the ARCO. There is minimal parking spaces in front of the restaurant but we were still able to find one. I visited during the week and it was not busy at all, I am not sure if it gets busy during the weekend or happy hour. The server was awesome and very kind. He also promoted their happy hour and recommended we come back to try it out. We ordered the miso fish and chips as an appetizer and they were really crispy and the potatoes were a nice thick cut. The fish was really soft, however I did feel like it was overwhelming greasy, order them with that in mind. My boyfriend loved them and he doesn't mind greasy food and I thought they were pleasant. For sushi we order the Volcano, 9er roll and the JenSai Blue Fire Roll. Highly recommend you try those three. read more

Jensai is great! The location is kind've weird (on 16th right next to the freeway), but Jensai is consistent, reasonably priced, and the food is bangin. I'm big on creativity and flavor (no boring, country stuff), and Jensai brings it. Their roll with habanero in it is my favorite! There isn't much ambiance here, the inside definitely is a hair dated, but I typically do takeout. Service is very friendly as well! If the inside was updated a hair I'd give Jensai 5 stars. But for now it gets a still incredible 4.5/5 in my book. Highly recommended! read more

It has been awhile since i patronized this spot. We came on a Monday night and only few tables were occupied. there were actually more homeless people outside the parking lot than patrons. But what did we order and how were the entrees. We ordered the following: 1) Sushi rolls: Chefs special "Mystery" roll consisted of a very strong tuna sashimi taste that was a deep fried roll. Not sure, but a strong flavorful raw fish taste makes one wonder on the freshness. We also ordered a salmon roll. Decent size filled with salmon and cucumbers and topped with more salmon. both rolls were ok. I just hope the "mystery" roll won't provide a mystery trip to the restroom. yikes! 2) two chicken teriyaki plates: looked like 2 pieces of chicken thighs, rice, salad, and both came with miso soup. Decent size plates and chicken was moist. 3) Sesame chicken plate: decent size plate. they used white meat chicken for this entree. our dining companion said the chicken was fine. 4) Unagi Donburi: the bowl looked great. But it was the first time seeing this entree arrive cold. They used cold sushi rice for the foundation and sliced several cold pieces of unagi on top covered with unagi sauce. the flavor was fine but was taken back by it being a cold dish. perhaps that is how they serve this dish? I asked our wait staff and she said i can ask for it warm next time. Hmmmm - next time? Overall: the food was decent, the price was fine, but not really a destination place. If you are in the area, sure give it a try- but i wouldn't drive across town just to experience the entrees here. They are many other destination Japanese restaurants one could patronize instead. read more

The mama's chicken wings were FANTASTIC, very crispy and full of flavor, can't wait to get them again. The gyoza was great as well.
