update: All was well until small problem surfaced. I've been coming for years and spent ton of money, but whatever they did last, I was no longer able to change map on my accessport and it was running at dangerous psi level (30 and should've been in the 20s). When I brought the matter to Lihn's attention, of course it was non of his business and he had nothing to do with it. He got on the phone in the middle of the conversation and never hung up. I can't say enough about both JER Development and their sister body shop Auto Magic. I was recently in an accident with my 13 year old car and worried that the paint would be hard to match much less the repairs themselves. They worked with me to help me save as much money as possible and the work they did was beyond excellent. The paint matched perfectly my 13 year old paint which, although the car has always been garaged, had still faded a bit. No detail was too small for them to ignore. After the body work was completed they found a bad rear axle bearing and a leaking front axle boot which they repaired for a very fair price. What I thought was tire noise was actually the bad bearings and now my car not only looks beautiful again, it rides super quiet too. Brought my car via tow truck here after it wouldn't start or be started with cables in Long Beach. Linh is extremely nice and professional, as a woman I get up sold a LOT when I am doing any maintenance on my car. He never tried to upswell me and was super nice when I got there. It was 5:15pm and they close at 6 and they had 3 other cars they were wrapping up. He said they may not be able to look at it tonight. Which was fine with me. So I call enterprise to pick me up and get a rental. As I'm waiting Linh comes running out and says they were able to look at my car and can repair it tonight! Hooray! I was expecting a starter replacement or something extravagant. It was a battery replacement. His prices were extremely reasonable and he didn't charge me for the typical diagnostic fee you pay at mechanics. Just the battery and the install, which was significantly less than what I was expecting. I will be coming back to Linh for sure, excellent service!! read more

Linh is a great guy, his mechanics are also great and he checks on all their work. I couldn't find a local shop that would work on large truck engines, Linh welcomed the job. I have a 2003 Ford F-250 with a 6.8 V10, I've had a larger throttle body and Doug Thorley header's installed here and they did a great job. This is not a car you would trust with any mechanic they have experience withe the JDM engines. Its rare when a shop does what they say and charge what was quoted and stand behind their work. Awesome little shop. The mechanic knows exactly what he's doing & takes great pride in his work(nonchalantly). We were able to get a job done that practically no other shop would be willing to do without any other services. On top of that, the mechanic chose to take on the job even though we came just 15 minutes to closing & the job took an hour. We were so grateful towards him for understanding the urgency we were facing at the time. He even gave us his contact info in case we had any questions on a vehicle we are working on. I must say Linh is the man! I shopped around for prices on coilover, swaybar kit, and rear camber kit install for my 08 g37 and JER def had the best price. Saved almost half of what other shops were trying to charge. Also the other reviews are right bout Linh. He LOVES cars and wont mind talkin to you about the best route to get your car done up. Like the other reviews on this page, I have to admit that Linh, is a very knowledgeable person, and you can tell off the bat that he knows his place around cars especially. Unfortunately I took my car here after the starter had taken a dump on me and left my car stranded. I had it towed to the shop and informed Linh about the repairs that I wished to have performed on my car. We agreed on a new starter, as well as a brand new clutch. Linh called me to inform me that he had replaced the things we agreed upon, and that the car was running great, however he warned me that my brakes were not in the greatest condition, in which before handing my car over to the shop, I had already knew my brakes needed to be replaced soon, HOWEVER it was still in WORKING condition. Linh called me to come pick up the car, which is where everything went wrong. Upon picking up my car, the first thing I noticed was a big scratch on my front bumper, in which I addressed to Linh, who tried to remove it, however it was too deep of a scratch to do so. He apologized and asked if he could give me a discount, or try to fix the bumper himself, which I admired. However things got worse. I drove off the shop and the first thing I noticed that there was something really unusual about the brakes on the car. As I was approaching a red light, and proceeded to step on the brakes, the car started skidding and veering instantly to the right, almost causing me to rear end the car in front of me. I immediately took the car back to the shop, and told Linh, who said he knew what exactly was wrong and that he would have the car fixed by the next day by the afternoon. Again I had to leave my car in the shop for ANOTHER day, while having to pay $100 more just to fix something that wasn't even a problem before I had brought my car in the shop. Upon receiving my car the next day, as I was rolling my window down, the WHOLE window fell VERTICALLY. I did not even bother to take my car back to this shop in fear of another "problem" suddenly happening to my car. Something here smells fishy... I brought my car here with 1 problem and I got it back with 3 more. Don't take your car here. read more

JER is the place for all your automotive needs needs. Linh and crew are not only master mechanics, gear heads, but tuning enthusiast. Long story short, my Subie had a CEL and when I ran the code it was a misfire in cylinder #4. Took the car to "so claimed Subaru specialist" Forman Performance in Costa Mesa, they took my car in for 1/2hr and concluded I need a full motor rebuild slapping me with a $5k+ quote. This did not sit right with me, especially only spending 1/2hr to do a quick compression test, so I took the car back and drove it over to JER for a 2nd opinion. Linh told me he needed to keep the car for awhile to run various test, I told him keep it as long as he wants and 2weeks later the problem was just an injector and an o-ring. Not only did JER save me a crap load of money, but they were willing to take their time and fully diagnose the car to get down to the exact problem and not jump to crazy conclusion like what Foreman Performance did. The car now drives super smooth like how it should thanks to JER and team. So word of advice to you guys who love your car(s).... "save your time and take it to a shop that cares" not some shop that just want to take you for your hard earn cash. read more

I have taken my car (240sx) here before and was very satisfied so I thought that this was a shop that does really quality work, but on my last visit, it was a disaster. I got my car towed to the shop because it wouldn't start and I wanted Linh to diagnose why and fix the problem as well as fix a power steering leak. He figured out that my ecu was fried and my igniter was bad. I ordered a new ecu and igniter chip and brought it to him and the car turned over perfectly and he told me it was ready for pick up, but before I could pick it up, he told me the car wouldn't start again and that my car had burned another igniter chip. Instead of finding out the cause of the problem he gave me the car back with another fresh igniter chip (which I had to pay for of course) and sooner or later of course, my igniter chip burns out again. And to make things worse, he never even fixed my power steering leak, but charged me an hour labor to "fix" it. A few weeks later, the power steering is leaking worse than ever AND my car won't start AND I ended up paying close to 700 dollars just for labor to not even know why my car is burning the electrical components. To make things even worse, my brother also brought in his 240sx to fix his power steering leak and the same thing happened with him. Linh failed to fix the problem and it is leaking just as bad as before if not worse and charged him an hour to "fix" the problem. If you have a modified car like us I really suggest you not to bring your car here unless it is an easy fix and even then he will probably overcharge you for labor. Overall, I am absolutely disgusted with dealing with JER and will definitely never come back. It is a shame because I really do respect the cars that he has at his shop. read more
