In this day and age with so many Bariatric Dr.s to choose from, it is very important to pick the right Dr. I chose Dr. Korman, ( LA Bariatrics) because after doing considerable research I found that Dr.Korman was the best choice. I had the Lap band in November 2009 with Dr. Korman. I could not of been happier with the whole outcome. I believe that not only do you need a highly professional and successful Dr. to be on board with your case but also a successful staff. This is what you get with LA Bariatrics. The entire staff works hand in hand with Dr. Korman to ensure that high success results are achieved from every patient. I was very pleased with my new way of life. Dr. Korman is extremely attentive to his patients, caring, excited and very gentle. After five years of living with the Lap band I decided to convert to the Gastric Sleeve for optimal weight loss. After discussing my choices with Dr.Korman he assured me that he would once again be happy to be part of my new journey. Now you might be wondering why I choose to convert to the Gastric Sleeve. Wow...the eventual response I did receive STILL ISN'T FROM DR. KORMAN--the person I've repeatedly asked to speak to. This response focused on my use of harsh language regarding the staff. My harsh language is warranted because this team of Korman's sycophants has done nothing but make my hernia and my life worse! I'm suing the practice. I spoke with a person in the office, the 1st thing they asked was for my insurance information which they ran and they said "I qualify". I called to get information about the weight loss program. I was informed that I would be prescribed pills and I would have to pay $100 a month! I said no, that does not work for me. I was charged just for the information. I would strongly suggest, unless this is something you are ok with pills (everybody is different) and being charged than this will work for you. read more

Pros: - he's very friendly Cons: - not thorough - BIGGEST ISSUE: I came out of a 10-minute exploratory procedure injured - expensive compared to better doctors - I feel he does unnecessary procedures (see other reviewers) - I don't think he's competent in the area of esophagus/hiatus hernia/stomach issues (also noted by other reviewers) **read other low reviews, I'm just now reading them and finding similarities 1. He's not thorough. I've lived in 5 states, had a child, and this was by far my worst experience, period. 2. I went to the appointment to look into seeing what this bulge/spasm I get from time to time in my stomach/chest area. He recommended I have an endoscopy to check for a hiatal hernia. I left the endoscopy with a deep cut and swollen lip. He agreed this shouldn't have happened during such a simple, standard procedure. As a patient, it's concerning that I came out of a quick 10-minute exploratory procedure, injured. I was still icing my lip for a week and my lip was still hurting for 2 weeks. Knowing I had this poor experience, he didn't even call to check or have a nurse make sure everything was okay. I also find it odd that both myself and another woman I met in the hospital went for endoscopies and both didn't have hiatal hernias. That's a red flag. To me, there were less invasive options for identifying the issue. He even stated during the physical that my symptoms were NOT in alignment with a hiatal hernia. So why did I need an endoscopy? I even told him that another doctor said it doesn't sound like a hiatal hernia (but it wasn't their specialty so they told me to go to a "Generalist" to look into the issue). I don't even have time to write about how poor the hospital experience was! There was a lack of communication and miscommunication (on his part/his staff's part). I was there for almost 4 hours (again for a 10-minute procedure). 3. Annoying things: - I was asked 4 times who referred me to him. One time on a sheet of paper, and 3 times by staff. I was drilled to the point that I had to find exact names, addresses, explain the story, give phone numbers, to each person! All because he wanted to know "who to thank." - He never "ended" my appointment. He walked out, stopped in front of my door and had a long conversation with separate patients who dropped in. I had to actually close the door to dress, then ask them politely to move so that I could exit my room. I had to ask the front desk if my appointment was over. All of these were signs I should have gone somewhere else, but I needed to get answers quickly.3 4. I've received 4-5 different bills after this procedure. I had the procedure months ago and I'm still getting new bills. I WOULD NOT recommend using him as a Generalist practitioner. read more

Two months ago, Dr. Jermey Korman performed a lap-band surgery for me. He is a very nice doctor and all of his staff are very helpful. After the surgery, I had some complication which is very common on those type of surgery. Had lap band put in years ago thru Dr. Jeremy. He is definitively a sales man. He will promise u the moon if it meant being allowed to bill ur insurance for an expensive procedure or procedures. During the pre op program he failed to inform me that I would suffer from irritation to my throat due to the tightening of the band making it easy for me to get food stuck in my throat to the point I had to throw up to find relief. Oh and continuous ear infections due to the pressure caused during severe throwing up episodes. I was literally living on anti acids and antibiotics that further depleted my health. Not mention I suffered from severe bad breath, that as a lady was so embarrassing and humiliating. My teeth .. Let's just say.. I'm still getting help to fix rot and damaged caused by this ordeal. My insurance poured tons of money into his pockets. He even billed my insurance for repairing a hernia. Interestingly enough the individual that removed my lap band noted that there was no evidence of any hernia repair. This is not the only time he has done this. Many of my friends have also experienced this so claimed charges for hernia repair. What a disappointment. Beware ladies and gentlemen. read more

Hi, I had the surgery with Dr. Jeremy Korman in 2007, I am a success story keeping off about 70 pounds but the best news is that I do not relate to myself as a fat person any more, found a new freedom, can not believe it is already almost 11 years. I can not express myself with words that will be profound enough to show my gratitude to Dr. Korman and his staff, Bridget and mal, Judy. Dr. Korman saved my life, if you are a compulsive over eater like I was where the weight was just a manifestation of what I was feeling inside which was a very dark place, eating in secret, punishing myself through food, finding an excuse to celebrate through food, and before the surgery I was so desperate that if I can tell you a secret and dr. Korman does not know this either, I was hoping that I would not make it after the surgery, because coping with life and constantly having to fix it with food had become unbearable, I actually was disappointed that the surgery went very smoothly and no complication, this I felt and is the honest truth that I am sharing it the first time but as I got closer to the surgery I felt this panic, how I was going to live life without my security blanket "food"!, first I want to write about how honest and pleasant Dr. Korman and his staff were, I had been to other doctors who did not want to perform the surgery because I had Medicare and Medicare barely pays may be 3,000 or in that range, and I over heard a doctor saying he did not want a Medicare patient because he was not going to get paid enough, so when I first came to Dr. Korman I felt I was going to be discriminated against and turned down like other greedy doctors, so I was ready to let him have it, but dr. Korman surprised the hell out of me, he was not money hungry and he has never been,he was very kind, generous with his heart, he cared way too much, very humble, I want to say it felt good to be able to trust him, and how dedicated his nurses and the dietician were and they seemed to care a lot and I have seen a lot of doctors and I have trust issues and I do not like money hungry doctors, but Dr. Korman was not like that at all, he cared for me despite lousy Medicare payments and I believe even if I were rich I would receive the same luxurious treatment I have received for the past 11 years from him and his staff . I am writing this review for those overeaters who feel like I felt 11 years ago, created a bondage of self and felt trapped, lonely, in despair, feeling inadequate, fat, could not even sit across some one while eating and not thinking about food, as I have told Dr. Korman before, I said thank you dr. Korman for freeing me from jail(being fat and unhappy was just confinement) and thank you for taking the hand cuffs off of my hands and allowing me to live, I remember I could not wait to have the surgery once I had made up my mind and I was pressuring Dr. Korman and as nice and soft spoken he is/was he was very firm with me and said your safety as a patient is very important to me and I am not just going to rush this because you feel you want to loose the wait, and at the time I did not understand his reasoning he wanted me to get educated and have consultation with the nurses, dietician, himself back and forth, he was educating me because he was familiar with the insanity of the typical over eater but I felt like once I had the lap band every thing was going to be fixed and I did not have to lift a finger sort of speak and my desire for food would go away and I will have no resistance, no temptation, but now I realize he knew better, he had enough experience dealing with patients like me where I was looking at it from one angel which was my angel and how dare any one tell me what to do, so when he actually scheduled the surgery, this is how I got to know my disease of overeating and I learned that I liked to think I had control but in reality I did not, so about two three weeks before the surgery I went at it and binged because I kept on justifying that it was going to be my last meal so I kept on having a lot of last meals and still was not satisfied, then as I got closer to the surgery I got the cold feet and started to eat and cry I cried so much and the fact I was crying made me even see how my life had been controlled by food and its significance, I was feeling grief lost and was really scared thinking oh my God if I am not going to be able to eat how am I going to emotionally survive, how am I going to without food confront people who are rude to me, abusive to me how am I going to deal with my loneliness if I won't be able to go to a restaurant because if I can not eat a lot then there is no incentive, and really was feeling sad and the more I cried the more I realized I was showing so much resistance to having the surgery even though a part of me wanted to do it, and Dr. Korman and his staf were so good and so gentle I could share how I felt. will continue in another review reached maximum read more
