However, prior to getting our meal half of the dining room we were in was closed off and before we finished our meal (a good 45 minutes before closing) they were vacumning on the other side of the partition they'd pulled across. Not particularly welcoming, Elmer's and it's not the first time it has happened to us. This doesn't even include the table full of tomorrow's set ups that employees were working and gabbing at. Ultimately, either you're open or you're not. Vacumning around people trying to eat is rude. Be better.

After several minutes in there and we ate the only one of three tables where people are so, figuratively, there wasn't anyone inside but three tables so, service should've been done in a normal or faster time but, sitting in there while waiting for our drinks, we heard the manager and two of the waitresses and the new waitresses in training so four in total talking and blasting and talking shit about other coworkers and people they know and stuff. Well, I heard enough of their gossip shit. Got up and went to them and told the manager '"I'd like to have my coffee and water we order several minutes ago". The Manager and new server apologized and said we'll be right there. Piss me the hell off for sure but, it gets better. The waitress in training came over. Took or order the best she could. It seemed as if it was her first day. That was okay because I know with proper training, she will be much better soon, assuming her training is how to give proper service and not who has the most and best gossip. Our order came about 10 minutes later. Guess they had to go out and get an egg from the chickens. Anyways, my bacon was burnt. My sausage link was undercooked. My ham? No problem. They slice a piece off warmed it up and tossed it on my plate. The hash browns??? Totally shit! Hard. Tough. Should use a serrated knife to cut my hash browns. My egg? Cooked with other eggs the cut off and placed one egg on my plate. Must have been ready for us for a while because when I got my order, the pancake was barely warm enough to melt a small amount of butter in the middle. You can see that there's still butter on my pancake that wouldn't melt. My wife had had eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. Her was the same! Our hash browns and meats tasted and felt like they were cooked yesterday and not this morning. We gave our plates back with most of the food still on it. Not able to eat. I told the waitress in training that next time she sees food like this, especially burnt bacon, you should question the cook about this bacon and if it's really ready to send out. The manager came over and said that 'I'll just take one meal off your ticket and I'm sorry about that'. I told her, the manager whose name I forgot to ask but, I told her I've been in customer service for many years and telling you that you should fire your cook. You should be reprimanded for letting home cook like that and the waitress needs to have to knowledge and guts to ask the cook about the food that's going to be served to our customers. The smile and cocky ass attitude that manger had when she first came to talk to us quickly went away after I told her she should be reprimanded. Bottom line is this. If corporate doesn't step in and make some serious customer service changes, that ihop location will be going outta business due to no patronage. No one's fault but management and corporate. Let's see what happens. This is what I sent back from my order that I couldn't eat. Horrible. I feel sorry for anyone else that experiences this same as we did, I'm sorry for that. This was a waste of money. Cold pancake. Undercooked sausage. Burnt bacon and horrible hash browns.

Edit to add: DO NOT EAT HERE. The staff is unstable and unpredictable. Nothing about Jumbo's is worth it. Go to Butterburr's, Elmer's, Oliver's... Even Denny's. Avoid Jumbos. I don't recommend Jumbo's to any one who is not on a medically specified high calorie, high carb (albeit low complex carbohydrate) diet. You need the close assistance from a doctor to survive any consumption. Honestly, I am mystified as to why they don't just put their food in a blender and attach the feeding tube upon entrance of their establishment. The food seems best suited for the geriatric population, or the significantly taste challenged McDonald's frequenting crowd. Here's the thing, like McDonald's, or an evening of binge drinking, the punishment suffered by your body after eating Jumbo's is sometimes worth it. Every once in a while everyone gets a hankering to hear someone call out "Sooey!" and run for the troughs to eat the garbage deemed unworthy of regular consumption by those who hope to exceed age 40. All of this would be okay, excepting that for reasons baffling the minds of every honest person, the proprietors of this establishment actually think they are serving up gourmet breakfast to the hungry people of Pocatello. There's a certain charm and value to self-awareness which Jumbo's definitely lacks. I recommend Jumbo's. If elephant sized portions of certain cardiac failure are what you desire, and you don't mind a little dehumanizing by the staff (seriously, I think visualizing customers as pigs is what helps them sleep at night), you can do no wrong at Jumbo's. read more

We come here at least once a week for breakfast. The servers are all great ladies who, despite being busy, will get to know you by name and are happy to see you when you come by. We are usually sat within seconds of arriving. Sitting at the counter top is fun and social and your coffee never dips below half full. We usually get "Jumbo's Big Breakfast" with French toast on their famous homemade bread and split it between two people and STILL can't usually finish it. Side note: no matter what you end up ordering, make sure you try their homemade bread. It is THAT good. The interior of the restaurant was just updated and it gives it a home-y, warm feel. Jumbo's is one of those "where the locals go" places that is slightly off the map but a hidden gem of Pocatello. read more

During the pandemic, not a single worker was wearing a mask. No one there is taking any precautions for COVID. Extremely irresponsible!!!! There was flies throughout the place.
