Made a stop here on a drive through Idaho and was very very impressed. Had a group of ten people and was sat down within 5 minutes. Right away I had a water and much needed coffee sitting in front of me which was always kept full. I ordered Jeri's Big Breakfast with a scone and bacon and holy cow it was to die for. No matter how full I was I couldn't get away from that scone. It was soft and buttery and absolutely perfect with honey drizzled over top. A few people in my group also got the biscuits and gravy and by the end of the meal their plates were completely clear so obviously that is some good stuff. Now the restaurant looks almost like a small house when you look at it which is perfect because you walk in and feel right at home. The servers and staff are so friendly and obviously care about the people they are serving. Our server, Shana, was amazing and was always around to help us with whatever we needed. Come to find out from her, the restaurant is family owned and ran by her mom Georgene and was first started by her grandma Jeri. Overall I couldn't have asked for a better experience. read more

Passing through town on our way to Wyoming. Had the perfect opportunity to visit some friends who live in Pocatello and suggested this place. I LOVED the laidback, home-cooking feel of it all. Everyone was pleasant and welcoming. The food was FANTASTIC. We couldn't believe how big the portions were. I can't remember the name of what I ordered (Benedict something?) but it was biscuits and gravy with eggs on top and hashbrowns. And like I said...the portions were HUGE!! If ever in Pocatello again, we are definitely stopping here. read more

Okay I've lived in poky for four years and I'm disappointed I've never heard of this place until the other day. They warned me that the servings were pretty big but I didn't think they'd be that big. The quality of the food was AMAZING! Also the hot chocolate was delicious. I wasn't able to finish all of my food but I definitely took the leftovers home. They are worth the price and visit. I love it there and I'll be going again sometime soon. It's the best café I've been to! read more

Off the beaten path dive restaurant where all the locals go. This place is ALWAYS packed. Great prices, great portions, great food!!!

Big portions at a good price. We took 3 boxes home and I'm sure it will feed us for another entire meal. I had a sausage breakfast burrito, which was excellent. Some people rave about the gravy, which I didn't care for. Some make the gravy essentially with only flour and milk (this is like Jeri's) others make it more spicy with pepper and similar seasonings, which I prefer. Our waitress was brusque and almost intimidating. Lots of tattoos, heavy eyelashes, absolutely no small talk, almost tossing the menus, drinks and food on the table. I spoke with my friend who recommended the place and he recalled that yes, he had the same waitress a long time ago. I could tell from their facial expressions that the couple in the next booth had the same opinion. The hostess was also a bit short with us- a "welcome in, here is your table," would be nice. Came here on the recommendation that it's the best breakfast place in Pocatello, it was far from that. Unless you equate "good" with massive portions, which many people around here definitely seem to do. Giant slops of bland food served slowly. Hashbrowns weren't browned or seasoned at all. Eggs were undercooked - ordered over medium but they'd still be under if they were over easy, whites were not set at all. The "country fried steak" was a massive, dry, under-seasoned slab of ground beef covered in a tepid and gelatinous gravy. The "biscuit" was a dense, dry cube that more resembled cornbread in texture. The place seems generally dirty and the staff disheveled. My wife felt ill after eating here, can't say I felt too great either. Definitely would not recommend. read more

I've always thought of Jumbo's as one of the best local breakfast spots, but my last 3 visits changed my mind. I gave them 3 chances and every time I was disappointed and in some cases furious. I usually order food to go, because of my busy lifestyle. I've placed orders from 6:30am to the afternoon and every time I end up waiting on average 20-30 minutes when I get there and in one case almost an hour. This is just when I get there. The least they could do is not say " it will be ready in a few" instead say it will be ready in 30min or more so I can plan accordingly. The wait time pisses me off. The other thing that bothers me, but not as much as the wait time is the customer service. I expect good service even if I'm not dining in. I'm still buying food from your establishment. Every time I've called in the woman taking my order has been rude and when I get there the lady has a hard time keeping her customer service act up. When picking up a early morning order I also heard the cook yelling at the waitress when I asked her how much longer the food might take when it had been 30min. I'm sorely disappointed with my Jumbo's experience and won't be coming back anytime soon. They have lost a potential regular customer. read more

I really want to like this place due to it being one of the few local places to eat in Pocatello. I always preferred local over chains any day. I come to Jerrys usually when friends or my wife convince me to not by choice. The thing that usually deters me from this place is the atmosphere. The employees usually seem grouchy, frustrated, and just overall not very welcoming. Usually shouting at each other and seeming slightly hostile towards one another. The food has always been consistent and tasteful. Price is about normal for a breakfast diner. Never had anything I didnt immediately scarf down. Ultimately I usually choose other breakfast diners because the food is just as good while the service and atmosphere feel much more welcoming. read more

I've ordered chicken fried steak here on two separate occasions, but I still haven't tasted it! The first time they were out. Three weeks later, I tried again. It was very loud and busy, and I guess the waitress didn't hear the "chicken fried" part--I was served a sirloin steak, which I hate at breakfast. I also hate throwing away good food, so I didn't tell her about the mistake. To be fair, the sirloin steak was excellent--tender and cooked perfectly to order (I asked for medium). Food quality, portion, and preparation is diner standard. Their hash browns could be more browned and crispier. Eggs fried correctly. Good bacon and pancakes. Coffee is fair (by diner standards). Atmosphere is terrible. If it's busy, then it's obscenely loud. Staff will yell across the room at entering customers, telling them where to sit. China are basically thrown around, clanging loudly. I would avoid this place on weekends. It is a stressful environment. The family who seems to own/operate are friendly, and you can tell that they try hard. But sometimes they're a bit overwhelmed. And some of their waitresses have a resting mean face and are not very friendly. I bussed tables and washed dishes at a small diner in Wyoming when I was a young chap, so I know how it goes, and I appreciate their effort. But it's not for me. After going to several other diners I've finally found the best breakfast in Pocatello, by far! Portions are extremely large, the food is fresh and delicious. I ordered the meat omelet. It came with lots of high quality meat inside. The country potatoes were delicious and they added their amazing sausage gravy on top. They have homemade bread and strawberry jam that's ridiculously good. The service is usually pretty good. We drove through southern Idaho on our way home from our vacation. This place had some pretty good ratings, so we gave it a shot. Looks like a hole-in-the-wall on the outside, but inside it was very cozy. The wait staff were nice, the service quick, and the food a cut above many other places that are out there. I disagree with the other reviewers' complaints about the lack of parking. There is an unpaved lot next to the diner, that could accommodate two diners' worth of cars. That being said, I had a great breakfast. The prices are not low, but they seem fair for the amount of food. Plan on spending $8-$10 for breakfast. The service was very good, but I forgot to leave a tip. I will fix that when i go back next time. I ordered two eggs, biscuits and gravy and hash browns. So I'm pretty picky about biscuits and gravy because, you know, my mom makes it the best. I rarely order it out but took a chance and ordered it here. Wow. I am so glad I did!! Almost as good as moms and I mean 99% as good. Portions were big and the biscuits were delicious. Service was great - fast and with a smile. Good with the kids too - The staff was genuinely upset that the cook forgot to make the choc chips on the pancakes in the form of a smiley face. I do have to say that the sausage patty I got last time wasn't as good or big as before, but I guess the economy effects everyone :( Anyway everytime I come to Pocatello I have to eat at Jumbo's! I had the bacon cheeseburger and a side of soup, both were very good (however I would say don't have this soup without the crackers, it doesn't taste as good without them). The place has a nice small town feel with pleasing retro wall décor, not to mention friendly service. They even gave the kids in our party bags of candy free of charge before we left. Here for the Simplot Games and our hotel offers a free, borderline palatable breakfast, But Saturday is the when the big dogs come out to play and it is the finals at Holt Arena. So Fathers and Coaches of Big Dogs need a big dog meal! I Yelped Breakfast in Poky and it did not let me down. The parking at this place sucks so be warned, but you could take that as this place must be damn good if all the parking spots are taken! Once you walk in Lisa's thats the name now you know you have found a diamond in the rough. I routinely take a look at the first table I can sneak a peak at to gauge what we are about to get into. My look gave me the hurry up and seat my ass I want to eat attitude. The menu has all the usual suspects, first instinct said for the french toast which is made with home made bread, down home style. Belly said Biscuits and gravy, and I had seen a plate of that come up and it was Man VS Food style so gluttony won over instinct. My road dawg, fellow parent Dwayne ordered the Jumbo which is essentially 2 of everything. When the food arrived, which both of our orders were delivered on 2 plates each, Dwaynes pancakes were the size of Melos 20's spinning there ass to NYC. At least a 1/2 Lb of home fries and 4 Pieces of perfectly cooked thick country style bacon. My plate had two softball sized biscuits with gravy the size of meatballs! Same setup on the home fires and bacon. Neither one of us could finsih our meals, just to damn much food! I wasnt that fond of my biscuits which were a tad over baked, but my home fries and bacon were right along with the best I have had! If in this desolate spot of Pocatello and wanting a good breakfast, Lisa's AKA Jeri's is the spot and FYI as we were leaving a order of the Homemade french toast came out and my instinct was right that was what I should of ordered. Went for lunch but ordered breakfast. Ordered 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy, 2 eggs and sausage links. The food was great except my biscuits were a bit hard. I understand that they can and do dry out over the day. I think they microwaved them a bit to long. Now if you read my other posts I am quite picky. This place has the friendliest staff I have seen in a Pocatello restaurant. The place has that down home feel where everyone knows your name. Not decorated very well but looked superclean. My order was togo and yes they gave me a ton of food. Lost a start because of my biscuits hardness. Needed a knife to cut them, but were still full of flavor. read more
