Stopped here while passing through Idaho on the 15. The staff was friendly and the bathrooms are very clean. We tried: - scone with strawberry jam - kind of like Indian fry bread. Very tasty - cinnamon roll - giant roll could feed 3 people. Since my husband couldn't eat the whole thing, he just cut the bottom off where the caramel was and the delicious maple frosting. - Pancake. breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon. The eggs and bacon were very good. The two pancakes were so big I ate less than half. I prefer my pancakes on the thin side; these were thick but had good flavor. Service here is great and waitresses are friendly. The food - not so much, although it's not the worst I've had either. We had breakfast this morning with a party of 10 and we all ordered a few different things. I had the chicken fried steak w/ a side of pancakes and coffee. The coffee was watered down and so were the syrup & ketchup. The country fried steak could've been good if seasoned right but it didn't have too much flavor but I did like the consistency. Never even got served. We were on the waiting list we waited outside as asked, no problem we were texted and seated,. waitress brought us water my friend asked as the waitress walked away if we could get coffee. The waitress replied as she was walking away that she didnt like being shouted at . When she brought the menus she told us there was no shouting in the restaurant. Nobody was shouting or demanding anything my friend was just letting her know that when she brought menus we would like coffee so she wouldnt need to make 2 trips. Let me tell you about my experience at Jeri's Jumbo's Cafe. First and foremost, the manager Heidi Hunsaker is probably the worst manager in the history of managers. She could probably use a good class in Management and in Customer Service. I am deeply troubled that in 3 weeks she will own this place. Her management technique is to harass, belittle and completely disrespect her customers. These qualities do not at all ever belong in a retail or customer service environment. Today, I took my family to what I believed was going to be a nice sit down family meal for breakfast. We ordered and received excellent service from our waitress. When we came to the bill, there was some discrepancies. Such as being charged $3.00 for a scoop of peanut butter for my French toast. That price wasn't even on the menu. I literally paid $3.00 for a scoop of peanut butter. Secondly, their menu states "a party of 6 or more or check of $60 or more MAY be subject to an 18% auto gratuity." Not that I don't tip my waitress, in fact my entire family is comprised of waitress and waiters, so I'm uniquely aware of the importance of tips, BUTTTTTT when you receive your check and you've been charges a 20% tip, that is not okay. I had a family of 3 plus a 13 month old. So 4 total humans. I was auto charged 20%. When I asked for the manager, and I explained that forcing me to pay a tip is not only illegal, but to auto charge 20% is fraud when the menu specifically states 18%. See Idaho Code 18-3125 "18-3125. CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF FINANCIAL TRANSACTION CARD, FINANCIAL TRANSACTION NUMBER AND FTC FORGERY DEVICES. It is a felony punishable as provided in subsection (3) of section 18-3128, Idaho Code, for any person: (1) To acquire an FTC or FTC number from another without the consent of the card holder or the issuer with the intent to use to defraud, or to, with the knowledge that it has been so acquired, receive an FTC or FTC number with the intent to use to defraud, or to sell, or to transfer the FTC or FTC number to another person with the knowledge that it is to be used to defraud; [and] (4) To, with the intent to defraud, knowingly obtain or attempt to obtain credit or purchase or attempt to purchase any goods, property or service, by use of any false, fictitious, counterfeit, revoked, expired or fraudulently obtained FTC or FTC account number." In other words you have to make clear a charge and the charge MUST be for service or materials rendered. An auto tip is illegal unless the card holder consents. Further, all I was trying to make clear was that I wanted to pay my tip as cash and not on my card. The industry standard and waitress/waiter preferred method of payment has always been cash. This "manager" openly criticized me, created mass hysteria, and belittled me for wanting a tip taken off of my credit card. She created such a scene that in all honesty, other customers were staring. She wouldn't even allow me or my wife to get a word in edge wise to explain our point or intention. This now makes Heidi guilty of Felony theft. Idaho Code 18-2403 states, "18-2403. THEFT. (1) A person steals property and commits theft when, with intent to deprive another of property or to appropriate the same to himself or to a third person, he wrongfully takes, obtains or withholds such property from an owner thereof. (2) Theft includes a wrongful taking, obtaining or withholding of another's property, with the intent prescribed in subsection (1) of this section, committed in any of the following ways: (e) By extortion. A person obtains property by extortion when he compels or induces another person to deliver such property to himself or to a third person by means of instilling in him a fear that, if the property is not so delivered, the actor or another will: 5. Expose a secret or publicize an asserted fact, whether true or false, tending to subject some person to hatred, contempt or ridicule; [and by] 9. Perform any other act which would not in itself materially benefit the actor but which is calculated to harm another person materially with respect to his health, safety, business, calling, career, financial condition, reputation or personal relationships." The bottom line here is the auto tip was $13.84, I was trying to and did in fact leave the waitress a $20 cash tip. The fact that this manager violated the law in an attempt to extort me and my family and then to create a scene is criminal and her conduct will in fact be held accountable. I implore each and every single customer wanting to eat at Jumbo's to rethink their choice when and if Heidi ever becomes an owner of this establishment. In less than an hour thus "manager" proved to in fact violate 2 felony criminal codes in the idaho criminal Code and for what? Because a customer criticized an auto tip on his credit card in order to leave an even bigger tip in cash? Any person reading this post, I have this whole interaction on video and am more than happy to share it with you. read more

We were driving thru so we stopped, so glad we did, portions were large enough for me and my husband to share, which was a plus since we were driving and couldn't take leftovers with us. Walked in to pick up my takeout and none of the staff was wearing a mask and the people seated were clumped together. We wanted a local favorite when we took a quick road trip to the Fort Hall Casino and Jeri's sounded like a great place! It was SO good! Even though it was REALLY busy the staff were friendly and handled business in getting our party of 8 seated and fed. Made a stop here on a drive through Idaho and was very very impressed. Had a group of ten people and was sat down within 5 minutes. Right away I had a water and much needed coffee sitting in front of me which was always kept full. I ordered Jeri's Big Breakfast with a scone and bacon and holy cow it was to die for. No matter how full I was I couldn't get away from that scone. It was soft and buttery and absolutely perfect with honey drizzled over top. A few people in my group also got the biscuits and gravy and by the end of the meal their plates were completely clear so obviously that is some good stuff. Now the restaurant looks almost like a small house when you look at it which is perfect because you walk in and feel right at home. The servers and staff are so friendly and obviously care about the people they are serving. Our server, Shana, was amazing and was always around to help us with whatever we needed. Come to find out from her, the restaurant is family owned and ran by her mom Georgene and was first started by her grandma Jeri. Overall I couldn't have asked for a better experience. read more

One poor waitress and a large restaurant full of people on a Saturday morning. Service was, need I say, slower than slow. It was very ridiculous. I sat at the counter because I was unsure if I needed to wait to be seated or seat myself. It was well over 6 minutes before I was even approached with a menu. Coffee and water finally arrived. As well as a menu. Biscuits and gravy was what I wanted. It was reasonably priced. Added a side of bacon. And waited. I sipped on coffee and waited to place my order. Eventually it was placed. I believe another employee arrived. I am sure the lone waitress was happy for the help. The other newly arrived employee dipped her cup into the ice to fill it instead of using the ice scoop that was clearly there to be used for such purposes. I see all sitting at the counter. Passing through town on our way to Wyoming. Had the perfect opportunity to visit some friends who live in Pocatello and suggested this place. I LOVED the laidback, home-cooking feel of it all. Everyone was pleasant and welcoming. The food was FANTASTIC. We couldn't believe how big the portions were.
