    Jerk chicken, cabbage

The only reason I am giving this a 2 star instead of a one star. Is because the sweet potato pie was decent and the rice was decent. However, this place must pride itself on its jerk Chicken, because that is the name of the cafe. I'm not sure what they did to this chicken. But as you can see in the photo, it's black. I am a total foodie. You can follow me @veescomfortfood on INSTAGRAM. I often post food from restaurants. So my experience is completely true. Although majority of my posts, is what I cook. Now back to the review. I am not lying when I say their chicken has no season or no salt.It was so plain I lost my mind. It was definitely unevenly cooked because 90% of it was plain. But yet the other ten percent, you can see the direction in which they were trying to go with the jerk Seasoning. I was disappointed with the cornbread. They claimed it's some sort of cornbread. But it's just a white roll, you can buy from a grocery store. And it had the nerve to be six dollars. I spent fifty five dollars for everything you see in the photo.I think that is a bit pricey.I felt like I was ripped off. The jerk Mac and cheese was ok. Rice was ok. Nothing over the top delicious. Bread disappointing, chicken, a total failure. I would never go back. I have been wanting to try this place for years. Finally went in and was disappointed. The chicken was so hard.I felt like it sat maybe for about a week. And was recooked. First impressions is everything, especially if you see someone come in, you've never seen before. What an utter disappointment. And did I mention too pricey?Don't waste your money. look up a good jerk chicken recipe and do it yourself before going there. I'm surprised they're still in business.Who is buying their meat? People who lack flavor I guess.

It has to be in the stars. If I am in the vicinity of Tampa and Roscoe in the valley, on a Wednesday afternoon, I try to stop at the Jerks Wings Cafe. This Jamaican restaurant serves $1 wings all Wednesday. Yes, there are other Jamaican staples on the menu, but I have never tried them. Problem is that each time I get a carry out of their wings, there is a longing for more. Walk into this eatery and you are greeted with the intoxicating aroma of Jamaican spices and toe tapping reggae music. It is a small but happy dining space. There could be a slight wait, because the demand is rolling. I have been to Jamaica (Montego Bay, Ocho Rios), had Jerk there, but the flavor here is so unique. The thick spice blend, the quality of the chicken wings, the tender meat, falling off the bone, succulent in all its juices, is really something to behold. Nothing short of fantastic. Service is island style. Always smiling, courteous, happy, friendly, professional and high class. After all, you are in Jamaica. No Problem Mon!

Solid spot! This corner where they're located has a tiny lot which I've been able to luckily snag a spot where theres 2 or 3 left in the evening ( 4/9/25 and 5/14/25). There has been a time where I had to wait in the car because there wasn't a spot. Wednesdays have been my go-to for their $1 Jerk Wings. There's no minimum to order and I usually get full with 4 or 5 because they're pretty thick wings LOL. They're soaked in flavor and spices... and they pack a punch! I'm one to usually handle my spice, but this has me huffin' and puffin' a bit. I will say sometimes the wings soak up too much flavor and can be saltier. The meat is so well cooked it falls off the bone without being mushy. There is a deal where if you get 25 wings, you can get a 1L soda (2 cans of soda). Their soursop drink is unique. The oxtail mac and cheese is pricey (~$25) but worth a try! It's sooooo cheesy and tender; it's also a generous portion. I really liked the chicken and beef patty (total $8) as well, and they're quite spicy too. Service is chill albeit not the quickest but everyone's really nice.

I absolutely love this place! It never disappoints. The oxtail is my go-to (obviously), but everything here is delicious. You must stop by this quaint, very friendly, delicious spot!

    All you can eat too!

Unbelievably great food and warm nice people! The jerk chicken falls off the bone and the taste will blow your mind! BIg UPs to Paul and the gang!

And there they are, jerk chicken wings, just the right amount of heat and oh so delicious!

The jerk wings Café one dollar wings on Wednesday is a pretty darn good deal, considering how freaking expensive chicken wings have gotten. Jerk chicken can be done in a lot of different ways, but this place is spot on, they have just the right amount of heat and plenty of flavors that really make up the jerk taste profile. Staff is friendly and helpful and the seating area has a fun mural to enjoy. I will definitely be back on a future Wednesday!...

Lovely restaurant with kind workers! Simply order your food at the counter, take a seat, and it'll be out in minutes. If you go on a Wednesday, Jerk Wings are $1 each! I got 6 wings and the sauce was delicious and super spicy! If you go, make sure to try their Jamaican sodas too!

And I had to ask "What is a Jamaican Style Meat Patty"? and they told me it's like an empanada! But WOAH. It's much bigger than any empanada I've ever seen! The staff was super nice on the phone to me when they explained what it was and that we were able to turn the meat patty into a vegetarian friendly version - nice! They also had a vegetarian one! So we grabbed 2 and got 2 free then decided to also order their vegetarian curry because we thought the meat patties wouldn't be enough. But omg. It was more than enough! The meat patties were huge and thick! And so so so FLAVORFUL! When you come to their shop inside the food hall the shop looks unassuming, it's cluttered and doesn't really give me the excitement of wanting to order here but wow wow wow. Once we ate it we were like "we shouldn't have judged!" Once we dived into the curry we were just waaaay to full but the vegetarian curry was so good. Not as flavorful as the meat patty (should've had the curry first so our tastebuds wern't overwhelmed!" but still tasty nonetheless! It had so much chickpeas and the rice was pretty good! I think we're going to have to come back and try it again when we're in the area!

The Jerk chicken was cooked perfectly, though the spice level was mild, even after a warning. The oxtail was tender and good, but not the best I've had. While the rice and beans were a bit too wet, the plantains and cabbage were great. I would have preferred some hot sauce and fluffier rice, but overall it was a solid meal. A text notification system for when orders are ready would be a helpful addition, especially for those seated away from the counter. The staff member gave an estimated time, and my food was actually ready sooner, which I wasn't aware of. While not a major issue, this is an area that could be improved. The service was friendly and helpful, and I would definitely return to try more of their dishes. While the food overall was good, a few things fell short, like the rice. Overall, it's a tough call because the food deserves more than 4 stars. Caribbean Gourmet is easily the best Caribbean spot in the SGV and my second favorite in LA County. The prices are very fair for the portion sizes, and I must highlight how affordable they are, especially these days. Kudos to Caribbean Gourmet for keeping prices affordable while serving delicious food!

As I have stated before I'm harder on island cuisine cause I'm an islander. Yes I love the concept I love the look, but I this is a spot I'd take my friend who liked Caribbean and didn't like their meals seasoned. Ordered the one beef and one chicken patty but when. Our order came she informed us they ran out of chicken. Not sure if they make the beef patty there or not? The filling was cool there was definitely seasoning. The crust was good. Everything with the patty reminded me of a JA Patty. I'm not saying they Tower or Tasty but it's good. The brown stew chicken was begging to be a start but ended up like an extra on a movie. The cabbage I wouldn't even call it a side of cabbage more like a garnish of cabbage was missing that mark. The peas and rice I was pleased they used dried peas and not canned and I was pleased they used coconut milk but they didn't use enough and the thyme scallions ginger allspice cloves salt were all missing like a wanted poster. Now we all know oxtails price has increased from dirt cheap high as hell, but oxtails for there price need to undoubtedly be the star of your show. These weren't the star of any show.
