Well I came just before closing; some chairs were on the some of tables and portion of floors mopped. I popped my head inside and quickly advised I would try later when not closing. My daughter and love JB's! We walk right in and sit at the bar. We get excellent service every time. I get the square meal and hot coffee and she gets the veggie skillet and hot coco. Service was great, except the server had one WAYYY TOOO MUCH PERFUME!! Why would you do that? It permeates into the food. It was awful. Wife and I frequent this location when in Oro Valley for hospital visits etc. We waited close to a half hour for a simple veggie skillet and single side pancake order plus one coffee which my wife had to flag down a waitress for refill. Mid morning and restaurant was not busy. My vegetable skillet came w hardly any filling but was floating in yellow margarine, eggs were too raw to eat. I ordered over easy with whites cooked, I got the opposite, the biscuit it comes w never arrived they tried to give me toast but gabbed it back after I repeated I had ordered the biscuit. They apparently were out of biscuits (??! At breakfast) Skillet served before the single pancake order. I tried to eat as I was hungry from a fast but the eggs were raw on one side. Not being able to get their attention I walked the plate up to the counter. There lies the problem, cooks don't speak (man w about five days facial growth scowling from kitchen) or understand English and the waitress don't understand or speak cook's language. I've never seen a manager at any of these locations and had to stop going to the Thorneydale location for similar issues. Waitress offered to redo but we had already been there over a half hour and declined. Paid $13 for my wife's 1 coffee, single side pancake w fruit. Don't think we could ever return after this. I used to love this place. I recently had Chicken fried steak with a salad and fried okra. The food was good. But when did gravy become an added item, $1.99, to Chicken Fried steak? When questioned they said it's always been that way. No, it hasn't! I've been here numerous times and this was a first. I understand with food prices being higher why they might charge now, but say so, don't act like it's been this way forever. Plus, they never give you a roll unless you ask. I usually forget. Other than that, good food, great service. I ate at another Jerry Bob's today, my girlfriend had the Chicken Fried steak, it came with gravy. For those looking to spice up their breakfast, Chorizo variants are available across the entire menu. I opted for an omelet. They offer four standard omelets as well as a version that you can design yourself. The pancakes are light and fluffy, but a little bit thin. That's really the only downside at this location. Had a great breakfast here not too long ago. They have great food and a great friendly staff. I would say come during off-times as it gets busy during breakfast times and Sundays in general. I had the eggs Benedict and the eggs were poached perfectly. The hollandaise sauce was very tasty. The hash browns were not as crispy as I like them but they still tasted good. We just started coming here around the holidays. I avoided originally because of some reviews. Now I regret that. We've been to two - Oro Valleys and Catalinas. Both good, but we prefer the Oro Valley. It's closer and cute. The food is good, but the five stars is for their staff. Best wait staff in the area. Always friendly, efficient. I got the salad, and it had the equivalent of 2tablespoons worth of ground beef on it. This salad was 13.95 if I remember right. I was stunned at the lack of meat on it, so I told them about it. We have tried this place twice. The first time was a lot better. This last time turned me off so bad it will be a long time before I return. I'll still give them three stars for an Ok, not A-Ok, experience for both visits, averaged together and rounded up. For this last visit, my cole slaw was inedible. It had no flavor and it was dry. The catfish was over cooked but I still ate it but will not order it anymore. The fillets are too thin to deep fry and that is why they are almost burnt on the edges. No one ate the fries because they were battered. I thought this "fad" had run its course long ago. We were a party of three making do with only two sets of napkins & flatware. I asked for extra napkins but they never brought them. Our server did not give us the customary check back to ask if the food was ok. read more

Jerry Bob's in Oro Valley is relatively new. Like the other Jerry Bob's locations it is a large room with booths and tables with a blackboard announcing the day's specials. The breakfasts are mostly good and a great bargain ($4-5) for pancakes, french toast, eggs, biscuits & gravy. I had a ham & cheese omelet with biscuits & gravy. The eggs were overdone and the biscuits hard and tasteless. My companions had french toast and pancakes which they thought were good. Lunch, for me, was a chicken fried steak which was more like breaded cardboard than meat. My companions had catfish which they liked though the mashed potatoes were instant. I liked the other Jerry Bob's locations better than Oro Valley but you can't beat the price. read more

Great joint at the first glance, however unacceptable customer service, so we will not be returning again. Came for breakfast at 11am on a weekend, waitress took our order... 30 minutes went by, no food. Couples and parties arrived after us already ate and left, we didn't want to be rude and didn't complain-place was definitely busy, we were sitting patiently waiting. 30 minutes later the waitress comes to the table stating-I am sorry you order slip fell behind? something and was completely missed, we will make it right away and will discount your meal for the inconvenience. We understood. Profoundly thanked the waitress and ate our meal that arrived 5 minutes later. Bill arrived with 10% discount. SERIOUSLY???? I am an extremely busy professional with such little time off to enjoy my weekend, and spending 30 minutes waiting for food was not part of my Saturday morning plan. Apologizing was good, 10% discount as a way to make up for it was unacceptable and extremely dismissive. Not the amount of money that mattered, but how I was valued as a customer was something that makes me never want to go back. AND as we paid our bill I asked the cashier little old lady whether anything can be done to make up for horrible experience-she said "nothing can be done, waitress already discounted your food".
