We have a cottage on a nearby lake in Onsted. We go to Jerry's whenever we are in town. Jerry is a nice old guy who makes it a point to come over and say hello, ask about the food etc. his one daughter works behind the bar and the other one waits tables. His son manages the kitchen. We have never had a bad meal here. The drinks are good, and they have the best of michigan craft beers. Every time we have been here the food has been solid if not remarkable. Service can get be a little spotty. Our last visit I had the chicken sandwich which was good and my wife had the BBQ pork sandwich. She said it was good. At first we got plenty of attention, but then some more well known locals sat down at the next table and getting attention of the waitstaff was more difficult. I like it because it's on the lake and they have good beer... when they have it. They seem to not be stocked very well and I think one of the owners was drunk one time, either that or she was just strange. We tried to walk in there and the doors were locked, when we called they said they were open and then came and unlocked the door for us. It was only about 9:30-10:00 )pm. Happen to be in the neighborhood looking at the Christmas lights at MIS. Jerry's is on a lake, it was dark when we got there but I expect it has a great view. The hostess was extremely friendly. Spacious place inside. Waitress apologized for not having table clothes on tables, she said they were preparing for Christmas party. Service was good and food was also. Stopped in the other day (late March weekday) and at noon the place was ours. Toward the end of lunch, a few locals stopped by to chew the fat at the bar, no not the fat served on the menu! The other yelpers discussed the decor and the vibe, I will focus on their house made potato chips that accompany the sandwich/burger menu. I ordered the perch sandwich. Three large fillets, perfectly fried, not greasy, sat atop a toasted bun. The owner and a buddy came over and we talked about making the chips. They buy the potatoes pre-sliced, then prep them on site. He brought a small bowl to try. Wow. Wonderfully thick and crisp. I subbed these out for the standard fries, wanting to see how the fried turned out. I'll order the default chips the next time. My lunch partner had a great looking chicken breast salad with walnuts, dried cranberries and feta. The lettuces looked as good as they tasted. The walnuts, though, had, to my taste, a staleness to them. Their oiliness tasted 'old' to me. My lunch partner seemed fine with them. We were on our way to Lake Hudson when it started to rain so we thought we'd have some food and a drink in the late afternoon (4:45). We were intrigued by signs for Jerry's Pub on the lake and so found our way there and "sat ourselves" like it said on the sign that is right at the door. We were impressed by the posters advertising good Michigan beers and looked forward to having one. We found a great table on the patio overlooking the lake and proceeded to wait and be unacknowledged while a bartender and a server stood right next to us having a loud conversation about shopping and buying shoes. We waited long enough that it was time to say something. At that moment, a server came walking toward us and asked from across the patio if we wanted menus. She seemed annoyed and said that there were "3 hostesses", implying we should have talked to someone. The place was pretty empty and we never did see anyone near the door that seemed like they were seating people, not even on our way out as we left right away, feeling unwelcomed and unwilling to bring our business here. read more

The very first time I came out to the Irish Hills we rode to Jerry's. It was a wonderful place and very accommodating to our group of motorcyclists. Two years later I moved to the Irish Hills and Jerry's became a favorite place to go. The view is beautiful, the regulars are fun, and the staff is wonderful. Sometimes it can get super busy, but I am never disappointed. It's nice to be able to take the boat across Wampler's Lake and park at the dock on a hot summer day and get one of Sue's famous white Sangrias or an IPA on tap. They have karaoke on Fridays and often have bands on Saturdays. In the winter my honey and I like to go and sit in the penalty box and watch football all day on a Sunday. If you're in the Irish Hills or hanging around Wampler's Lake, make it a stop. The food is yummy and the variety at the bar is sure to make anyone happy. read more

My husband and I were just out riding at lunch time, stopped at Jerry's for lunch. The salads were great, the gentleman serving us was very down to earth and pleasant. I have finally given up on this place. I know it was Fourth of July but it was an hour and a half from the time we walked through the door to the time we received our dinners. The Lake perch was lukewarm, the french fries were undercooked. Our waitress forgot my wife's french fries although they did give a 15% off the bill. $17 for lake perch served with undercooked fries and so so cottage cheese ugh. I've been slacking on my Yelp reviews lately but felt compelled to give Jerry's Pub a good write-up due to it's lack of recent reviews. The Irish Hills area is not known for it's fine cuisine, and finding anything halfway decent is pretty difficult. After seeing their billboard on US-12, we looked up the website. The menu has several entrees, there are a few Michigan microbrews on tap, and the best part is the Tiki Bar by the lake. We had already eaten at a family get-together but stopped by the Tiki Bar to check things out. Having a good experience that night, we came here on purpose last night to try the food. I ordered the stuffed chicken, broccolini, and vegetable beef soup. The soup was definitely homemade and very tasty. The broccolini was not overdone and still held it's bright green color. My chicken was extra delicious, as it was stuffed with bacon and mozzarella cheese and sauteed with a light, flavorful white wine-butter sauce and crack salt. YUM! My husband ordered the black and blue rib-eye, which the waitress returned to say they ran out of. However, she offered to add the blue cheese topping at no extra charge to the other steak on the menu, which was less expensive. The steak was cooked to the correct temperature, and how can you go wrong with beef and blue cheese? Also delicious. The fries were freezer but still good. We found the entree accompaniment choices a bit odd because the vegetable of the day is included in the potato/rice group, not the salad/coleslaw/soup group. You would have to pay $1.00 extra to get the veg. of the day and a starch. Side note: The Tiki Bar only serves what they have behind the bar, which is less than what they have inside. The inside drink selection is available at the inside bar/tables or outside only if you get a table through the hostess. I will definitely return next time I am swimming out in that area. read more

It pains me to write a bad review about Jerry's Pub, but this visit was incredibly bad. It was a Sunday evening and the sun was setting. There wasn't a hostess at the door to seat us, so we found a table ourselves( many to choose from as it wasn't busy). It took our waitress at least 10 minutes to ask us if we wanted something to drink. We both ordered iced tea and water. After about 10 more minutes she brought 1 water and 2 iced teas(which were more Luke-warm than iced). I ordered crab cakes and the Hubby ordered a steak. After about 40 minutes the waitress comes by and tells us that another waitress took our order so the kitchen was going to have to make another and it would take 15 minutes. Half hour later, our food arrived. The steak was dry and crab cakes were over-cooked. We had to hunt down the waitress to get the check. The only thing good about this experience was the view. read more

Had to get my own drinks all night, cleared our table when we just got up tp smoke, didn't offer to replace anything, kicked the band off stage and shorted them cash because the rudest woman alive was selling beer on the patio for a buck cheaper, (This was in the hot summer months) and turned the air off to get everyone outside. I would not reccoment this place to an enemy. I feel bad for the owner. He is a nice guy and his daughter and staff are rude.
