this was my first time at Jerrys, I had told my family I wanted a solid maryland crab cake for my birthday today and this is where we landed, while the food was good i wouldnt say it was particularly exciting or special outside the crab bomb. they start you off with a warm bread basket with butter, the entrees come with two sides I got the caesar salad and wedges. The Service here left much to be desired the managerial staff was very seemingly very selective as to what tables they chose to check on, and our waiter was absent often and while I can appreciate staggering between courses the wait times were still considerably lengthy especially given that they didn't really get filled up until about 25 mins into my dining experience. one of my party members got the cream of crab soup which she found to be extremely bland and sent back, the oysters she had she did enjoy. they split with our other guest the crab and shrimp bomb with the house salad they both reported the salad lacked toppings and the blue cheese less than desirable. when our main courses finally arrived I can say the crab bomb was certainly the star. It was nicely filled with real lump crab meat and had a nice sauce within, and the shrimp x crab bomb combo i found to be very juicy! for my platter I found the haddock to be surprisingly well executed it was light flaky appropriately battered and flavorful I really enjoyed it , at $56 though seeing that tiny scallop on my plate next to those large shrimps was disappointing and the scallops were somewhere in between slightly overdone but also under?! weird ! the steamed shrimps were lightly seasoned, listed as devined but i did find one shrimp that definitely was not I get that no one really wants to do that to begin with but if you're going to go through the trouble of listing that on the menu as a prime feature of a dish then please make sure that that is the case across your plates. the fried shrimps were seasoned nicely, as were the wedges! Overrall id rate the mariners plate 7 or if being nice 8 out of ten. It left more of / for something to be desired. the server when they finally got back to us did bring me a brownie for my birthday unprompted which was nice and appreciated. I stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. The wait for a table was a little longer than expected. So I opted to sit in the bar at a high top table. I was greeted promptly with menu from the bartender. There's a small bar menu that can be ordered from or you can order from the regular menu. I started out with a frozen mango margarita that didn't disappoint. For my meal, I ordered the fried stuffed shrimp with a side of coleslaw. I enjoyed the hot sourdough bread and butter so much that I could barely eat my delicious entree. Crab bomb, crab dip, crab soup are very good, but they are not consistent. Sometimes the crab bomb is too loose/undercooked. I order a crab/shrimp bomb to go, and realized when I got home that it had very mushy/thin consistency. It was so liquidy and would not even hold shape. It looked more like a someone spooned it into the container halfway uncooked. Also think they should improve their selection of sides. Baked potato is usually dry and burnt, never taste fresh. Only toppings are butter and sour cream so pretty plain. Would be nice if they had loaded baked potatoes. I don't know many grown adults who want applesauce with a $50 entree. Odd option. Stewed tomatoes are ok but taste like they came straight out of a can. Wedge fries and coleslaw are average. All in all their sides don't complement a good entree that well and seem pretty lazy. I tried my friends' salmon, it was good flavor but a little overcooked and dry and overpriced.. I could make better at home, salmon is pretty hard to mess up unless you overcook it. Fried oysters not worth the $16 price. About 6 oysters, once again overcooked. They had the texture of chewing gum. Had to spit it out, rubbery and inedible. Overcooked or undercooked seems to be the theme here. The crab soups are usually pretty good, though the cream of crab base is very thick and they could add more crab meat. read more

Crab bombs! That's what they're known for. It's a crab cake (10oz or 6oz), but without the filler. I had the 6oz. The crab bomb entrée comes with two sides and bread. I had the coleslaw and baked potato with sour cream and butter. The crab bomb was delicious. Very meaty. The 6oz was the perfect size for me. Both sides were great. I also had the cream of crab. It was the best cream of crab I've every had. It was very creamy and had big chunks of crab meat. I ordered to go. They have a white tent set up on the side of the restaurant. You can place an order with the QR code or order in line. There were plenty of people ordering pick-up. The wait was about 40 minutes. read more

My friends and I decided to have dinner at Jerry's Seafood on a Saturday evening after visiting Robin Hill's Vineyard in Brandywine. They do not take reservations, so we arrived prepared for the wait, it was 40 minutes. Jerry's is a nice sized restaurant with a bar area to sit at, as well as a large main dining room, and I believe they have a private room as well. Erin was our server and she was absolutely amazing. She told us the difference between a crab cake and their famous crab bomb. Any questions we had, she was a wealth of knowledge. They also had amazing sounding fish specials. As soon as we were seated, we were brought hot rolls and butter, perfect! The rolls were hot and fresh, and the butter was the perfect temperature to spread on the roll without damaging the bread. Iykyk Funny thing is that we all ordered a baby crab bomb for dinner, I ordered the crab & shrimp baby bomb. The entrees came with 2 sides. Most of us had the side salad, which was the freshest salad I've ever had from any restaurant, side or otherwise. The house dressing was delicious, and my friends raved about the in house made blue cheese dressing, they said the best they have ever had, and they are big blue cheese fans. The other side many of us had was the baked potato, which was cooked perfectly. We also had the crab dip, which was also very good and topped with lump crab. The crab bombs were very tasty and full of lump crab. It was similar to a crab cake but had more juices than a crab cake. Crab cake lovers....don't stop at go...JUST COME HERE! I'll get right to it, the crab bomb is amazing!! They are HUGE, and no fillers! Oh their green beans are amazing as well....but that crab cake is amazing. They also have a crab and shrimp bomb and it's just as delicious. Oh there may be a wait for a table but it seem to flow. They take your number and text you when your table is ready which was nice since there isn't a lot of seating. The price isn't cheap but is affordable. They do offer desserts but I unfortunately didn't try them as the coconut cake was out. Wish they had bread pudding. Oh and the dining area is very homey like. It's nothing fancy at all. Overall A- As a first timer, I went on a Tuesday night in July, party of 2. It was not too packed. It was a nice ambiance- you can either dress it up or down. I was coming from a formal event but didn't feel out of place. I ordered the baby crab and shrimp bomb which was excellent and so filling. I definitely would return. They normally get 5 stars but today is only 3 because the crab bomb was really off. There was a pasty like filler when there normally is NO filler. The crab also tasted off. Disappointed because I bragged about the crab bomb and drove up from Quantico just so my friend could experience the crab bomb. Oh well. What a great place!! I have to say our waiter was wonderful. He provided great suggestions, very customer service oriented, and was attentive to our needs. It was a beautiful day and a lot of people were celebrating either graduations or mother day. The food did not disappoint. I ordered the crab dip which had jumbo lump crab on top. It was creamy, and the bread was toasted perfectly. next we ordered the crab bombs for lunch. I have to say they are the best I've ever had, and I was born and raised in Maryland. the coconut cake was a great dessert . This restaurant came highly recommended by a friend so our group of four decided to check it out. I took the 45 minute drive to Bowie to try the famous crab bombs which promises to be all crab meat with no fillers. I was excited. We got there at 630pm to a semi packed house and was seated promptly on this Wednesday night. The server was prompt and attentive. The menu selection was small so looks like they stick to their specialities. The menu is pricey which I guess is to be expected because seafood is pricey. I of course ordered the crab bomb. The side salad was large and with fresh veggies. Crab bomb critique let's go: it was a pretty good amount and I couldn't finish it all, it definitely was mostly all crab meat, it was hot not Luke warm and tasted fresh. Con: not very flavorful. I had to add cocktail sauce to dip the crab meat because it wasn't very seasoned. Also it was too soggy for me. I guess because it had no fillers it wasn't firm but I felt they could have broiled it a little longer. It was just too mushy. In all spending time with friends was priceless. Stopped by Jerry's Seafood on a packed Saturday evening, and it was clear this spot is popular. The bar was full, and we had to wait for a table. While waiting, we spotted an open table as a group was leaving from the bar area which is seat yourself area, but before we could grab it, an older couple--who seemed like regulars--swooped in. A little awkward, especially with the lingering eye contact, but we let it go. Given the presence of an armed officer, we figured it wasn't worth making a scene. Once we finally got seated, the service was great--fast and attentive. The drinks were strong with generous pours (not a bad thing at all). As for the food, the crabcake was excellent, and the "small bomb" (I think that's what it was called) was really tasty. Definitely worth trying. If you're planning to visit, I'd recommend making a reservation, especially if you're coming with a group. It's a lively spot with plenty of TVs to catch a game, so grabbing a seat at the bar and enjoying the atmosphere seems like the way to go. Will definitely be back! read more

Hadn't been here in years! My 91 year old aunt wanted to celebrate her birthday here. The manager accommodated our group. Service was excellent. $10 for a piece of rum cake was a bit much BUT it was good. Just not $10. We were very appreciative that they allowed our group to have multiple separate checks. Exceptional! Best crab cake in Maryland, hands down! Not much on decor, but the competent staff and food compensate for that inadequacy. Other so-called crab joints don't compare if you want a real crab cake with no filler and freshness, Jerry's is it. Yes, the sides are limited but adequate. This was our first visit, and we only tried carryout here for a Friday dinner. You have to go to the right side of the restaurant to obtain carryout service from a window. Do not go inside the restaurant. We ordered the crab bomb (10 oz) entree that comes with 2 sides for $45. Our order would be ready in 30 minutes. There are benches outside for you to wait, or you can go back to your car. We ventured to Bowie Town Center that is across the street. We returned in 30 minutes and our order was ready! The crab bomb is round in shape, not your traditional crab cake shape. There was no filler, all crab meat but included claw meat. The 2 sides were large and plentiful - garden salad and fries. Plus, a large dinner roll was included. The only negative point is the price. $45 is high for a meal and can only be justified for special occasions unless you're rich. Unfortunately, the crab bomb price is the same for lunch and dinner. Note: They do serve a baby crab bomb for $35 at lunch and dinner for light eaters. read more

Thursday 4/11/2024 My mom has been hyping this place up for over a year and claiming that it has the best seafood & best crab cake that she has ever had. Her birthday was coming up so I decided to take her here for her birthday dinner. The service was fine but I was lil confused when I asked the waitress if they did anything for birthdays and she replied yes but the only possible "special" thing done was putting a candle on one of her cake slices. I got the cream of crab soup $8.50 and crab bomb with fries & vegetable of the day (green beans) $44.95. But I also tried the starter bread, fried shrimp appetizer $18.95, coconut cake $10.50, and rum cake $10.50. - cream of crab soup * it wasn't bad but it was just alright - the crab bomb (with French fries & green beans) * I fully expected the crab bomb to be sensational but it wasn't, It was solid but I've definitely had better and there was a lot more mayo than I expected. * the French fries were decent & enjoyable. * the vegetable of the day was pretty decent: they are seasoned green beans with some onions in the dish. - fried shrimp appetizer * it was alright but my mom didn't really enjoy them very much and she's the one who ordered them. - coconut cake * wasn't a fan of this cake due to its cold temperature, being coconut flavored, and tasting like a vanilla cake with coconut toppings but my moms the one that wanted it. * my mom liked it better when it was warmed up instead of cold. - rum cake * if you love rum or rum cake, I could definitely see you enjoying this as the cake was moist, warm, and had a strong rum taste to it but it's just not for me as I'm not an alcohol typa guy. All in all, my moms hype for this place did not match the experience at all as she heavily overrated this spot but it's not bad. I could not have had a better dinner on my second encounter! We arrived 30 minutes to close. They were hospitable and gave us the booth seats which was what we wanted! Our waiter was a jewel, very polite and engaging! The ambience was great! So many families having fun's while enjoying their yummy dishes. When our food came - oh my - God - unbelievable! The most meaty and juice crab cake I've ever had! They allowed us to stay until 10:40pm (after their open hours) so we could enjoy our time together and our meal! I've dined at Jerry's years ago, when my in-laws picked a dining outing, and recall not being impressed with my meal, compared to the high price tag of the dishes. Memories of the words, "too buttery" & "greasy", left me often saying, "I'll pass" anytime we were asked if we wanted to join for dinner- but this time I couldn't really avoid a big birthday celebration dinner- so I found myself scouring the menu for something that might be lighter. When we first arrived, checking in for our reservation for 7 & a toddler, we were told they only had one large party dining table, and the current family had paid their bill & were boxing up food. But 35mins later, the family was still seated, just chatting away- this wasn't the restaurant's fault- they had nicely told the family after about 15mins they had a table waiting, they started to clear the table, and were as forward as they could be- handling it well. When we were finally seated, random appetizers appeared at our table right away; we were told the owner put in some complementary orders as we waited, to apologize for the delay. Such a kind gesture, that wasn't needed from the restaurant, it really wasn't their fault for any delay. The appetizers were quite good- we had the opportunity to try the crab balls grilled & fried, the breaded shrimp, and some crab soups- Pulling off the breading, our toddler devoured skewers of shrimp- large juicy, well-seasoned pieces, with a spicy kick cocktail sauce-quite a treat. The broiled crab balls was all crab, no breading. The crab soup was HEAVY- the crème was far to thick for me, one bite I couldn't handle any more soup- though it had large chunks of crab throughout, the buttery sweet crème was far too overpowering. I ordered the Baby Crab Bomb- a side salad-and stewed tomatoes- While the salad came out as an appetizer choice- I put it assigned to create a nice crab salad, ultimately pouring on my stewed tomatoes and mixing in the crab meat- this helped cut down the sweetness of the stewed tomatoes (VERY VERY SWEET flavoring) & blended the butteryness of the crab meat- I do enjoy the fact crab bombs are just pure crab meat lumps smashed together- no filler breading like the crab cakes- but they do use a lot of butter-and they didn't allow me the firecracker option on the Baby Bomb. Overall, I sort of hold my initial impression- the food was good, but factoring in the sweetness & butteryness against the price tag, I'd opt for some other the other crab options out there. I do commend the excellent & attentive staff- our waiter managed our large party quickly, checked in often, and was an ace when it came to making sure the toddler had what she needed before everyone else. read more

I was invited to Jerry's on a lunch date! I was so excited because its a local restaurant I have heard so much about & been dying to try! Everyone keeps mentioning their Crab Bomb! He asked all the right questions, gave great recommendations, and service was fast! I ordered the baby bomb which was the 6oz crab cake. Every entree comes with two sides so I ordered a house salad with their house dressing and sautéed green beans with shallots. Everything was so good and well seasoned. The crab bomb had a nice golden crisp on top, was all lump crab, and steaming hot! We were in and out in about 40 mins. It was my lunch break so that was perfect timing even with having to wait. Service here was A1! Everyone works as a team and makes sure tables are clear. I was very impressed seeing how busy it was that the service never lacked!
