I am going to disagree with the lower reviews. I felt like the Crafty Crab did a great job. 1. Our server was great 2. The fried scallops were better than they should have been (hard not to keep eating them) 3. The crab cakes were perfect They include a number of dipping sauces and choices and honestly the food was well prepared. We are going back to try the seafood broil the next time! There were a few things that we noticed our service lacked towards the end that I believe had to do with the fact that we weren't ordering anymore drinks, like the other tables. Which we would have if we weren't just ok with what we were served thus far. I never received the bib she was supposed to bring me so I just made one with the paper towels. Came to crafty crab for Sunday dinner and I can say that the food was decent, not the best seafood boil I've had, but also not the worst. I like their sauce, but the shrimps were mushy. I enjoyed their scallops but the steamed oysters were a bust. The non seafood items like the wings, fries and hush puppies were great! Location is clean. Service is HORRIBLE. Slow. Had to keep asking for things to finally get it. Seafood bags missing items. Just not good. But, I will say, I was with a large party, so I am willing to give this place another try, but maybe I will go with fewer people to see if that makes the difference. read more

If you've never ever had "a boil" this is a good place to try one. However, it is not at all the best...it's good, but not "smack your mama good". I guarantee you can make your own at home and it will be just as good if not better. And it will probably be better. We also ordered fires and hush puppies. They were both mediocre at best...not bad, not good, just a little okay. The bog question is was it worth what I paid? I'm glad you asked, it was. The food was priced right and the portions were generous. Question 2, will I go back despite all I said above? Yes, yes I would. I didn't try everything on the menu so I would go back but I'm not rushing to get there. It will happen when it happens. The Craft Crab is one of my favorite spots to stop at while in the DMV. I typically get one of their specialty bags with crab legs. I prefer my spice level medium because sometimes spicy is too hot. They also have a crab sauce that's so yummy and pairs well with the Cajun fries. My only issue is that getting crab crackers is not always guaranteed. read more

They've had just a few full days of operation, but I was lucky enough to get there early so I can give my two cents! So, PG County has had two big cajun seafood chains (that I'm aware of): Hook N Reel & BeClaws. So I was wondering what it would be like in this place. Well... it was kind of dark. All of the blinds were closed! As beautiful of a day as it was, they should've been open, but it wasn't a dealbreaker haha. There were lights, but not many. Not really a complaint, just an observation. So, the service was totally on point. We were checked on regularly and the stadd were super kind and professional. I decided to get fried tilapia and sweet potato fries. My friend got gumbo and scallops. I will say that my tilapia was delicious... the breading was not excessive, and the seasoning was present, though it didn't perk my taste buds as much as I expected it to. The way it was made was how I'd imagine myself making it (fried, but not enough seasoning to make it seem too salty). The highlight was the sauce I chose to have on the side with the tilapia. They have their cajun, a medium, and a spicy... but also a "Boom" sauce. The Boom sauce was BOMB. I used it for the fish and for the fries! All in all, I enjoyed my food, prices weren't bad, and I left satisfied --- but it didn't really stand out... yet. I've been watching to see when this place opens up. I finally went with my sister! When we got there, we were seated right away. There was a lot of staff there including staff who walked around cleaning the tables and restocking. Our waitress was very attentive. She also made great suggestions. This place reminds me of Rock and Toss which is about 4 minutes away. The only thing is that their mixed set of sauces is called the "boom sauce." They also have lobster tails and you can add eggs to your boil bag. What did I order? Well I had the snow crab legs, shrimp no head, and it comes with corn on the cob and potatoes. The sauce I chose was the boom sauce with no spiciness. It was definitely tasty! I also ordered lemon pepper wings which were just ok. The prices are about the same. The bar is coming soon! I do want to see them do something different. Everyone must at least try this place once. read more

Once we got our boil we waited another ten to even get our gloves, another ten after that to get a singular crab cracker tool. Food was great yall but the service needs immediate CPR. They brought us a Stella (beer) that was UNOPENED and didn't return for 20 mins. Needless to say we had to use our car key to open it. To my surprise, I had a very delicious dinner from Crafty Crab the other day. Clearly during COVID-19, I'm not eating in any restaurants, but luckily I was able to place my order online and pick it up at my convenience. I studied the menu and kept thinking, is this going to be enough for us? Soooo, I ended up ordering 2 orders of the crab legs and headless shrimp boil, added a pound of headless shrimp with corn and potatoes all with the mild boom sauce. That sauce....whew! That sauce! It was delicious, try it! It's a mixture of all their sauces - crafty cajun, buttery garlic, and lemon pepper. You can also choose the heat level of your boil. I chose mild. On the side I ordered the cold slaw, French fries, and hush puppies. Umm, yeah, what was I thinking because it was way too much for us. Sigh, but at least we have left overs. Service was very fast and efficient. Like I said, I placed my order online and chose a time. When I arrived, I went to the window on the right side of the entrance, gave them my order number and showed my I.D. and was on my way. Easy Breezy! Everything was packaged in a way that we didn't need to even break out any silverware or plates. We just ate out the bag. My dining companion enjoyed the food as well. If I decide to do a seafood boil in the future, I'll be sure to come back to Crafty Crab. A fun place to experience a seafood boil! I liked the fact that they give you so many choices of proteins and spice levels. I may be the only one who doesn't like everything totally covered in Old Bay, so I was disappointed that when I asked, it couldn't be omitted from my boil order, but I got the minimum and it was fine. We had the snow crab, the crawfish and the shrimp and all were cooked well. The potato was great to soak up the extra liquid. The corn was terrible! This is my second time coming to this location. My first time was great the young lady at the front takeout was helpful and nice. Just a few hours ago my second visit was a mess. The girl at the front had an attitude so much so she got my order totally wrong. The manager came out and fixed the mistake. The girl, all the girl standing in the front hostessing or taking orders were heads down texting on their phones. I asked the girl a question and either she was so into her phone texting and ignored me. I had to get up and yell excuse me. Management should stop this because it seems they are rushing customers to get back to texting. If I see it next time I'm going to complain to management. This place has terrible service & terrible drinks. The waiters here are completely unresponsive. I witnessed other customers have to flag down waiters just to receive some service. It took 10 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge that I was not greeted. I had to ask multiple times just for a water. I will say my food came out fairly promptly but I was not a fan of the sauce. The sauce is primarily oil based & not butter. It tasted as if they heated up a vegetable oil & seasoned It up as if people wouldn't notice a difference. Lastly the only alcoholic drinks they serve are margaritas. This would be fine if the Margaritas were tasty however It was overly sweet & tasted like straight syrup mix.
