Went here with a friend who loved Jersey Mike's even though I had never been cause I'm always up for trying new chow. At the counter, we were warmly greeted. When I asked the older man of the two for recs since it was my first time, He was happy to give me the low down. The Italian Sub had two different kinds of ham that I wasn't familiar with so he quickly offered me a slice of each to sample. I don't remember the names of them but one was seasons with black pepper and the other had a sweet licorice taste, almost Jagermeister like. I'm sure the blend in the sandwhich is good with the salami but I went with their popular philly cheesesteak which was awesome! Grilled onions and peppers smothered with fine steak and cheese, what's not to love? Cool thing is that the owner didn't even tell me he was the owner until I asked and thought it was great to see him working behind the counter along side the other staff making subs. He said that his sister and brother-in-law own the other 3 Jersey Mike Subs in Austin. Only downside is that you walk away smelling like the sub sandwhich shop smell that every shop has. Don't know how to describe it but notice after you sit in a subshop for a while like Subway. Airing out the clothes in the garage helps. I drive by this place every day on my way to work. Today on my way home from work traffic was terrible, I got off work near the Y in Oak Hill and it took me almost half an hour to get to WmCannon and Mopac. I decided to pull off and get some food and hang out for a while as the traffic didn't seem to be letting up. I pulled into the shopping center and looked around. I've never been to Jersey Mike's before, but I eat at Subway, Jimmy John's, and Tucci's regularly, so a sub sounded great. I go in and the place is almost empty. Maybe 2 tables with people at them eating and 1 person ordering. There was one employee making the person at the counter's food and two other employees visible behind the counter. I wasn't greeted when I came in. Whatever, sometimes it just doesn't happen. I'm in retail and I understand that people get busy and just don't have time to say hello. So I'm looking at the Menu and I see that you have roast beef cooked in house every day. I love roast beef! I start making eye contact with the employees to initiate an order. The girl making the sandwiches is busy talking to her customer about feeding babies avocado or something but she looks at me I know she can tell I'm ready to order and she kind of looks at me helplessly. I look around and there is a guy in the back (left side behind the counter.) He's looking at this guy who is in the front (right side of the counter) just playing with some plastic cord cover that's coming off of the wall. The guy playing with the cord cover looks back at the guy in the back, the guy in the back points at me, and the guy goes back to playing with the plastic cord cover. At this point, I've been in here for 5 minutes without anyone saying a word to me. The guy eventually stops playing with the cord cover and walks towards me. Great, I step closer to the counter ready to order. Nope. Dude keeps walking to the back to talk to the other guy. I'm done, I just turned around, walked out and will never come back here. They rock my world. They close at 9. I called at 8:58 and asked if I could still come pick up a sandwich. The guy was so cheerful and said of course. I placed my order and he was very helpful. When I got there at 9:05, he was smiling and asked if I needed to add anything to the order. I paid and they both said thanks for coming by. It's so great to see people go out of their way to help. For a national chain, Jersey Mike's seems pretty down home. The subs are good and use fresher ingredients - meat/cheese sliced on order, etc. - than other places in town. I've had a cheese steak which was definitely worth the carbs. The turkey and swiss sub I tried on my last visit was tasty. The bread here seems a notch above Hog Island (but not as good as the tastiness that is the sub served at Home Slice). The usual sandwich dietary pyramid are on tap - an array of chips, cookies and soft drinks round out the menu. Good place for a quick lunch. read more

I discovered this place after one of their workers dropped off free sandwich coupons at my job. I came to check it out the following week. I was greeted by the owner told him how I got the coupon and was treated to a great sandwich experience from beginning to end! They explained the Mike's Way concept grilled my meat on my Italian sandwich and got my order right. They seemed happy to work there. This is a new location so I do how they stick around it is now my favorite sandwich spot! The sandwich was fresh tasting, I think the breast is baked on site. They didn't skimp on the meat which is about damn time someone stops giving you two slices of cuts!. I got everyone in the office to check it out already. This location has been open for about a week now, located in the NW corner of William Cannon @ Mopac near Golds Gym. I stopped by today on my way home from work to check out the new sandwich shop in my hood and "Yay! I'm a fan." I ordered the Turkey and Provolone Mike's Way (with lettuce, tomato, onion, spices, oil and vinegar) and added mustard on wheat bread. My sandwich would have been a full 5 stars if they offered sprouts and avocado:( After you place your order the meat is sliced right in front of you and that meat is stacked high with a high meat to bun ratio just the way I like it! Nom nom nom! This is my new favorite sandwich in southwest Austin. Okay, so I've only been to Jersey Mike's twice...but that twice has been over only three days! And my second sandwich was even better than my first. It's sandwich love! *swoooooon* May I recommend the roast beef? Juicy pink fresh roast beef - sliced thin right in front of you. Topped with provolone. And get it "Mike's Way" - the oil, vinegar and spices really make the sandwich. Ate here last week. Decent place. I'd had it a couple of times in Dallas as well. I applaud this chain for slicing their own meat - something Subway used to do in the late 80s. I can tell that they have corporate orders to push "Mike's Way" on the customers similar to what Subway did in the beginning of their popularity when it was company policy to only offer oil and salt and pepper AND not vinegar, mayo, mustard which was on request only. Silly. Yes ,I worked at Subway for a year in college. I asked at the beginning of my order for everything on it including all the peppers. Well I got both types of peppers but not the mayo or pickles. The employee kept asking if I wanted it "Mike's Way." Over by the drink machine, and assuming that meant mayo and pickles, too, I said sure. I mean I already said at the beginning of the order I wanted "everything" what more was needed? So yeah, I am partially to blame for not being near the sandwich production. This wasn't a dealbreaker though. I'll be back, because it's still so much better than Subway and their sub-par offerings. First off, the staff is great. They are super friendly! Very nice guys! Secondly, the food is delicious. I love a good sandwich and Jersey Mike's always delivers. The meat and cheese is cut fresh right in front of you. I also really like that the meat is thinly sliced. Lately, I have been ordering the California Club! Turkey, Bacon and Guacamole! When Jersey Mike's first opened this location (conveniently in the same strip center as my gym), I was pretty excited because my hubby was obsessed with this sandwich chain when we lived in Dallas. Jersey Mike's started in, well, New Jersey, and, the hubby being from Dirty Jersey, appreciates seeing his bountiful serving of meat shaved at the point that you order, not beforehand like other sandwich chains. The first few times we got sandwiches at this location they messed up the order. On other occasions we had to tell the staff over and over our requests (I said NO CHEESE!). However I think management has stepped in and worked out the kinks of a new store, because lately the staff is super friendly and much smarter, or at the very least trained properly. Bread is still hit or miss on the freshness unfortunately, which is why I won't give it 5 stars. read more

Generally, I'm not a huge sub fan but my lunch crew came here since we wanted to try a new place. The staff is friendly and the sandwiches were good, the bread seemed especially the fresh and the meats and cheeses were sliced in front of you. I had the big kahuna. I wish there were more Jersey Mikes around town. I love that they don't precut their meats and cheeses. All their ingredients are fresh and simple which make ordering easy. You cannot go wrong with getting a giant and having left overs for later, and I highly recommend getting your sub 'Mikes Way.' A friend told me about Jersey Mike's a few years back and it's been my favorite lunch spot every since. This place makes subs like the sub shops I went to growing up in Jersey. The sandwiches are delicious. The meats and cheeses are sliced when you order, and the rolls are always fresh and tasty. The store is always immaculately clean, even the bathrooms, and it's got a nice sub shop vibe. The staff is always courteous and friendly, and the owner Manny is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He seems to know every customer and what kind of sandwich they like. My favorites are the #5 Super Sub or the #13 Original Italian, but I've tried just about all of them and was never disappointed. Great food, friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere. Stopped by Jersey Mike's again. The sandwiches are still a bit pricey, but they have an array of pickled veggies (including banana peppers, jalapenos, hot peppers, and pickles) to spice up your sandwich. Complaints? I've discovered a flaw I missed on the previous review: The hoagie roll. It's a bit too flimsy and doesn't hold up too well if you've got the thing loaded down with a bunch of veg and then doused with oil and vinegar. That said, I've come to the conclusion that Jersey Mike's might just be the best sandwich shop in Southwest Austin. Yes, it costs more than the cardboard Subway sandwich you're used to, but isn't it worth spending your money on a quality product every once in awhile? read more

My husband and I love this place! His go-to is the roast beef and provolone or the Italian, and mine is the Philly cheesesteak. With that being said, everything we've had has been delicious! What impresses us most though is the level of service that the owner models and implements with his team! Fresh subs for a quick lunch I like coming here for lunch as it is quick and filling. The owner is really friendly and seems to be always working. He seems to be a really genuine guy and treats all his customers really respectfully and always chats with everyone. I always get the turkey sub on wheat and the veggies are always fresh. I got a delivery from the William Cannon location. This might not be their fault, but the delivery took almost and hour n a half. 2 1/2 miles to my door, 1 1.2 hours, I got the regular Philly steak n cheese, and surprisingly it was still warm and pretty good. But you know the guy who empties a salt shaker on McD's fries till they glisten, guess he changed jobs for that night. Ultra Salty. Gave them one last try, tried the giant Philly, hold the peppers. Tasted all right, but the quantity I got for $13.75, I'd have done better ordering 5 Guys and double my order. Also, when I ordered, I asked for plain ol white bread. I get a cal;l back, they are out of white, wheat, and all other breads other than rosemary parmesan. If I had seen that as an opion for ordering, no problem. I LOVE sandwiches. I take my sammies super seriously too. This place is the real deal. Fresh bread, fresh produce, and they slice the meats and cheeses fresh for EACH sandwich. They keep the toppings simple- "Mike's way" is lettuce, tomato, onions, vinegar and oil, oregano and pepper. My favorite sub so far is the original Italian. It has like four or five different types of meats and provolone. It's crave worthy and I love it. The people working here and very friendly and the place is nice and clean. I miss the great New York-style deli sandwiches I used to be able to find in Florida. I've been in Austin for four years now and tried over a dozen sandwich shops looking for something even remotely close to the quality, taste, and service those could provide. I've tried the top rated Yelp places, listened to friend's suggestions, and I still haven't found it! So why am I giving Jersey's five stars? Cuz I've found them to be the most consistent. They make a good tasting sandwich. It doesn't blow me away, but it's better than any of the other chains in town (even the local one who charges for pickles for some reason). And it's better than the "authentic" non-chain delis that I've heard others (including actual shop owners) rave about. I think what keeps me coming back to this location specifically is the staff. Yeah, they're trained to be super friendly at all locations, but I find them to be more genuine at this one. They remember me and appreciate that I keep coming back. And I appreciate that. read more

I love this place! Funny enough, I get their Baja chicken wrap done Mike's way. You'd think a Texan would try the Jersey subs but nooooooo, I stick with the Baja chicken and really think it's one of my top 10 non-homemade Austin sandwiches out there. I dropped one star for 3 reasons: it is kind of pricey, I don't think their order process is very efficient, and they only have pepsi products. But going back to the raving, I like that the owner (I think he's the owner) is always there and never forgets a face so once you walk in, he'll remember you next time you come around! I have been going to Jersey Mikes now for a couple years and really enjoy the sandwiches..if they make them right. I always feel like I have to watch them closely to make sure they don't forget anything. Numerous times though they seem to be more concerned with how my day is going and not concerned enough on how my sandwich is being made. The dang pickles and mayo is always forgotten and I can never catch it in time because they shuffle me down the line to the cashier. Chris saw the original on some food channel special and wanted to check it out since we were in the area. The sandwich itself was four star, but the service was a disaster. They obviously had some big catering thing going on (serving boxes everywhere) and were possibly understaffed, but I've never seen a place that was such as mess. Everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off and trying very unsuccessfully to multi-task. It made the service unbearably unfocused and slow (I saw people behind us give up and walk out), and, really, isn't the point of fast food to get things fast? If we happened to be in the area again, I'd give them another chance, but I wouldn't make the drive just for this place. read more

The place was a wee bit small, but if you are looking for a good sandwhich to fill your stomach, well this is a pretty good place to do so.

First off, I want to comment on what a had. Chipotle cheesesteak. OMG. So good! I've had grilled veggies on my sandwiches from Quiznos, and they just can't get it right. Here the grilled onions and peppers on my sandwich were AMAZING and cooked to perfection. Soft, with just a touch of that crispy in the peppers. It was cheesy, it was meaty, it was full of flavor and the bread was fresh. Tad expensive, but what can you do? It's a sandwich shop! Hubby got a cold sandwich. Italian. He said they do not skimp on meat, but cold sandwiches he prefers Jimmy john's or Thundercloud. But he agreed their hot sandwiches were amazing. I do like the fresh cut meat. Will definitely be back! I now believe one of the main reasons I like this place so much is they may in fact put some sort of addictive substance in the bread. The bread makes all the difference. It is almost salty. I love it. I tend to get the same thing every time. The Club. And it is consistently the same great sandwich. The quality of the meat and veggies are always good. The owner is really friendly and it seems like he is always there, so the service is always good. I am so happy I randomly stopped in one day! The only thing I was was better is they don't have that great of desserts. They have the typical cookie or brownie selection, but they are not that great.
