Not a lot of great options around here for a philly cheese steak, go to Jersey Mike's get the cheese steak with jalapenos and extra cheese I forget what number is but you'll see it on the menu. So my wife really wanted a hot sandwich so we went down the line of sandwich shops and landed on Jersey Mikes. I don't usually order Philly sandwiches because 9 times out of 10 they disappoint. This was one of those 9 times unfortunately. Also my wife ordered her sandwich hot and got it cold and was very disappointed but was ready to get home so we didn't mention it when they gave us they food. I hate giving yet another 2-star review, but "I've experienced better" is really accurate. I'm always looking for vegetarian lunch options, so I tried the grilled veggie wrap. It was 4x bigger than it needed to be and difficult to eat due to the size and sloppy nature of it. I couldn't come close to finishing it and was slightly annoyed there was no cheese on it as promised, only to discover a glob of slimy cheese stuck in the second half of the wrap. Overall the flavor was okay, but it wasn't worth the time and money it took to go get it, and I don't think I'll be back. As I had the privilege of waiting and observing, they have lots of staff. 3 on the prep line and a dedicated cashier. But none were hustling. Not super slow, just in no hurry. FYI, if you order a hot sub, you "get what you get and you can't have a fit". No customization. What is noted on the menu is how they hand it to you. The lady in front of me was not pleased. Total time out the door, around 20 mins. At home... sandwich was pretty good. The regular is definitely plenty big. I got tired of eating it before I was done though. Kinda a one note song. Hubs & I came in for a sandwich early on New Year's Eve afternoon. There was one other customer ordering his sandwich and us. Four staff members. The order taker and cashier were friendly, but none of them mentioned the rewards program or e-mails. We got our hot sandwiches to-go. Then we went to the drugstore and took our time heading to a park to eat. We got a chicken parmesan sub and a meatball sub. Hubs requested tomato on the meatball sub (sounds like an odd choice), but the sandwich assembler forgot to add it. So after 20 minutes in the car on a freezing cold day, here's what we thought of the sandwiches we got: delicious!! The first thing I remember thinking about the chicken parm was how much I liked the bread. It was warm, soft, and toasted well enough not to soak up all the tomato sauce & become soggy. The tomato sauce was flavorful without being spicy. The chicken was nicely seasoned. Meatball subs can be iffy. I got a couple of bites of hubby's sandwich after we got home, after the park visit. His bread was still soft and not soggy. The meatballs tasted good. Meaty and not mealy, like some of the cheaper sandwich joints around. The location is pretty convenient for us, but the pricing is more than our budget can allow for us to be frequent visitors. read more

Wow - where to start! First, if you are going here for your first time, expect sticker shock! I'm talking $8.25 for a 7" sub and 13-14$ for a 14" sub. They are BY FAR the most expensive sandwich in the Treasure Valley. Next, if you get a hot sandwich. I got the Philly. Expect it to be soggy. I took mine to go and ate it not less than 2 minutes after leaving and it was a soggy (bland) mess! They do offer Cold Subs and they slice it in front of you like Port of Subs. Except they are almost twice as much and their meat quality sucks. One needs only to look at the BLOCK of ,ground up and put back together again, ham (last I checked pigs were not square) in their display window. Why would anyone pay almost $2 more than Firehouse for a Jersey Mike's soggy sub with the same amount of meat? Almost $4 more compared to Jersey Mike's large? Why would anyone pay almost double for a Jersey Mike's sub that Port of Subs makes with the same amount of better quality meat? Sorry, these prices may work in Jersey or California, but not in Boise. They also offer bottled drinks in a cooler and several varieties of snack chips. * This shop looks a lot like Subway in principle. The difference is that they have TV screens overhead, slower service, and more costly food. * Taste? I ate the limited time offer, beef barbecue. It was pretty simple. Roast beef, a trace of sauce, and a bun. It was satisfying, especially with a bag of chips and the soda I mentioned. If there's a next time, I might bring a bottle of my own BBQ sauce to give it some zip. * The bun was more like a baguette, with cornmeal sprinkles on the bottom. You don't say? I do say. A throwback to the olden days of brick oven baking, where a dusting of cornmeal helped prevent the bread dough from sticking to the bricks. * The place was not terribly busy, but several customers came and went as I had a late late dinner. I personally work at this location and I must say that my coworkers are some of the hardest working and friendliest people you will ever meet. A majority of them are college students who are working to pay rent or to pay off their loans so if they seem a little timid its most likely because they have a big test coming up, or need to catch up on homework, so please don't judge the book just by it's cover and be rude, they are people too.
