The restaurant is decorated in the theme of some old Timey cars and like a mechanic shop. We placed our order at the counter and the food was ready pretty quickly. We tried the Chicago style hotdog dogs, the roast beef sandwich, and a cake shake. I got the sweet and hot peppers on the roast beef sandwich and that was delicious and I would definitely go back to try that again. The space, however, was well designed and nice place to spend some time eating. Large parking lot too. Portillo's is pretty consistent, so it was a bummer to drive 40 minutes for a subpar meal. Each time I tried to eat it the salad would spill over into the tray . However , the potato salad was unique , but it was good . The staff is very nice . They have always been professional and accommodating . They were willing to make me another sandwich after I ordered the wrong one. I took the sandwich the gentleman made , because it was everything I asked for with an exception of a few things. So it wasn't a deal breaker and it was my fault. I got the sandwiches confused. It was consistent with the sandwiches I've always known and loved . I usually get the everything bagel , but I vowed next time I go , I will try a different one. We both agreed that the chicken fingers were some of the best! The filet on the sandwich, however, was a little too skinny, unfortunately. We also got fries- they do lots of different seasoning options! We got the Cajun and the Rosemary Pepper seasonings on our fries... both were very very well seasoned! The fries and the chicken were both fried very nicely. Everything was crisp and made to order. The cashier service was friendly, but they are not on the highest level of hospitality. The restaurant itself has a large dining room and was very clean. I like the whole vibe and the music as well. The biggest thing I loved about this experience was the sauce! I ordered the New York Yankee which is still a ridiculously huge sandwich full of wonderful and delicious pastrami. The bread looks like marbled rye, but sadly I didn't pick up any rye flavor. I also had the salad bar, and although at first it looked smaller than I was used to, it still had lots of variety with good ingredients. And of course I always forget they have soft-serve ice cream and the little kid in me is always surprised and delighted. Service was quick and polite. The side of fries were of the coated variety and were fresh, hot, and crisp with the breading having a great seasoning. All the hard surfaces and glass windows made for quite the echo chamber, and even with half the tables occupied the noise level was quite considerable.
