    Mikes #17 Mike's Famous Philly
    Graciela G.

The place it's clean. It looks nice inside as well . I got to try The big KaHuna on wheat bread . It was pretty darn good. My husband go the Mikes famous philly it was good as well but I feel like it needed a little more flavor and the bread need to be toasted longer.

    Service area.

Food has progressively gotten worse over the past couple months. Shame because I used to LOVE jersey mikes.

Still, the name Shuko had me curious, it's one of Guatemala's most iconic street foods, so I had to try it. For those who don't know, a traditional Guatemalan shuko is street food done right: grilled bun, steamed hot dog, Guatemalan-style guacamole (no onions or tomatoes), sauerkraut, mustard, ketchup, and mayo. Their take here is a bit different no guac on mine, but still packed with flavor. A mix of grilled meats, sauerkraut, and condiments all stuffed into a roll. Definitely not traditional, but still tasty. I also tried one of their pupusas, and it hit the spot. A classic revuelta melted cheese and chicharrón oozing out of a perfectly griddled corn masa pocket. Comfort food, plain and simple. Only downside The fries. They were undercooked, a little limp. Just needed a bit more time in the fryer. But overall, if you're into street food with a Central American twist, Shuko 502 is worth the stop.

I lived on the Jersey Shore and traveled frequently to Philadelphia. I've done the Pat's vs. Geno's thing (they're both delish). I've had plenty of cheesesteaks at WaWa (Google it) and many roach coaches along the Eastern Seaboard. What most people don't get is the bread. The bread should be soft and chewy, and Pappa Geno's does a good job with that. The meat in an original cheesesteak is supposed to be cheap, thinly sliced and quickly grilled. Tender. Greasy. Wonderful. Pappa Geno's does a good job with that too. But -- there's enough black pepper to float a battleship! And there's nothing authentic about that! None of the original Philly cheesesteak joints empty half a can of black pepper onto their meat. Though I enjoy black pepper, my crew (including my Yankee wife) had some issues. Yo, Pappa Geno's! Enough already! Tone it down! We can add our own black peppa! (Still, this is an outstanding sandwich, as far as my taste buds are concerned.) Fries here are meh, but I like them because they warm up nicely in the toaster oven. The Disco Fries? Spot on with even the best diners along the New Jersey Turnpike! If you are a displaced Garden State or Eastern PA person, this joint might warm your soul. If you're a Houston person looking for a taste of the Northeast, you might well enjoy this place. Either way, tell them "Hey! Ease up on the throttle with the black pepper!" You're welcome. ;-)

However, the rest of the staff is up for debate. I am a regular here at Jersey Mike's and I come at least once a week. I ordered the same order every time and there's no discrepancy when I do it with Jaz, but with everyone else, (Hispanic lead guy idk his name it might be Cody) there's always an issue. They can never make the simple accommodations that I ask for. And now just recently I'm being told that I cannot purchase an additional bread roll... when literally two days ago I was able to, now all of a sudden, I'm being told that corporate is not allowing people to purchase bread, which is quite disappointing being that I always spend money here and that corporate does not want to make an extra couple of dollars by me making an extra purchase. It's funny how I cannot buy bread so I have to go to the grocery store across the street in the next block to purchase it but when I asked to sub out ham for pepperoni, then suddenly I have to be charged for that, but I can't be charged for bread. They just want to make it inconvenient for you, but that's OK. I will not be coming to Jersey Mike's anymore. Thanks guys for ruining my go to meal.

This was a sandwich for a 2 year old. Not to mention for not having anything in it, it sure was sloppy. Yes he sat down after he placed the order. Why should he have to stand there if it is made a certain way and he's told you what to cut and what to add? If you don't know what goes on a sandwich that a customer orders, then look it up! Do better!
