Chicken in the sandwich was great and really also liked the yogurt. Also tried out both the falafel and hummus, and they were both amazing! The falafel was very flavorful and crispy. The hummus was very creamy. For dessert, got to try out the Knafeh, and it was very good. It wasn't overly sweet and had the right amount of cheese. Service of this restaurant was also very good! I've been enjoying Jerusalem Cafe since I was grabbing their Hummus and Pita from their food truck after a long night in Westport. Their new location is a nicely modernized version of their old spot and the food is still just as good. Their Manakeesh is always excellent and they have some of the best gyros that you'll find in Kansas City! This place is solid! It has made me want to return to this beautiful city. The service was great, and the food was outstanding. To my surprise, the turmeric rice delivered and the beef kabob was spot on. I think the rice stole the show during my visit though. After having moved from Kansas City years ago, we had not been back to the Jerusalem Cafe in Westport. We also hadn't realized it had moved down the block, to a spacious new and lovely facility, with a great outdoor space. Back in town for just one-day and staying nearby, we wandered around and (re) discovered this old favorite. Boy are we glad that we did! A beautiful sunny day warranted sitting outside under an umbrella (but the indoors area is truly inviting and we could've just as easily enjoyed being inside this place) and starting off with a homemade lemonade. Not too sweet, and not tart at all, this was a great concoction, a refreshing way to start a meal. I am a true sucker for Falafel's so remembering that the JC's were especially good I had to have the full order. I remembered correctly; these are FANTASTIC. nicely formed, perfectly fried on the outside, tender and moist on the inside; in addition the chickpea they had an abundance of parsley and a hint of garlic. Wow, these were a meal in themself. The entree started with a choice of a soup or salad and my Greek salad also came with the soup. We both opted for the Lentil Soup and it was unique and very tasty. The only nit was that it arrived lukewarm. Upon notifying the server, she immediately scooped them up and returned almost immediately with the proper hot temperature, which made all the difference for a great bowl of soup! As mentioned I dove into a Greek Salad. I mistakenly ordered the large, and oh my, was it large....and delicious. very fresh romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, red onions, feta cheese and kalamata olives, adorned with shredded red cabbage and carrots. Oh and what a perfect dressing, apparently made in house. My wife went traditional and did the Gyro accompanied by those decadent and plentiful sweet potato fries. She was pleased with the ample amount of meat accompanied by fresh veggies, wrapped in a warm and soft pita along with the dressing was on the side, While its' been years since we'd been here, we were so glad to be back. Walked in and the place smelled great. The two entree dishes came with a choice of soup/salad and rice/fries. Their fries are delicious. I'm not sure if it's because I'm not familiar with the choice of meat for the manakeesh but I wasn't particularly fond of the sourness it had. Can never go wrong with baklava and a side of ice cream was like a cherry on top. Staff who seated us were friendly and our waitress was nice but slower than we had liked. We were ready to order but she only wanted to take down our drinks. Then after she served our drinks we had to wait for her to come back after some time to put in our meal order. Had lunch there today after not having visited this location in a very very long time. It's a bigger area than at their location up the street and rather inviting. Started out with the dolmas which were fine I probably wouldn't get them again but we also had a chicken shawarma which was fantastic and a lamb gyro, which was also outstanding. Each of the main dishes is reasonably priced and comes with either a super salad and a side of rice or french fries both the soup which was lentil today and the Greek salad were fantastic as well. I had a Falafel Gyro with a Greek side salad and a Lentil soup it was absolutely delicious. The turkish coffee was splendid as well- I needed a moment to learn how to pour it with the unique wares they have very beautiful to use feeling very traditional. I also got to try the mint lemonade which was superb with garnishing of real mint excellent to the flavor composition. Service was very attuned to the guests beyond just I- keeping the tables up to par with wiping them down and keeping them free of used plates- from the male and female serving me they had great attendance with etiquette. I have lived down the street from Jerusalem Cafe for almost 3 years and finally tried it! I was impressed! The service was lightning quick, we got all our food within minutes of ordering. All of the staff were super nice and helpful, and I was really impressed with how thoroughly they were sanitizing and cleaning tables! We loved the combo appetizer platter. The falafel (which is consistently voted best falafel in town in the Best of KC list by the Pitch) was awesome - I could eat a whole platter of just the falafel. I am obsessed with the baba ganoush, it was super garlicky and creamy. We had to try the combo gyro as well because we couldn't decide which meat to try. It was flavorful and the perfect sized sandwich! I felt like everything was reasonably priced as well! As usual, parking is a little bit of a challenge in Westport unless you're there during off hours. Perfect place for dinner! I went there with my fiancé and his family. My fiancé's parents shared a meat platter with a lot of grilled meat, vegetables and pita bread. I have had a lentil soup with sumac. I absolutely love sumac and use it in Palestinian dishes I created before. Also, in Hungarian cuisine we use lentils a lot and make soup so it was delicious. My gyros was perfect and so filled with meat and veggies and tzatziki. My fiancé's parents also had Turkish coffee. It was so good! Really authentic. Everything I miss from the Mediterranean in one place! I have went back since with my fiancé and it is one of our favorite spots now. When we got out, we looked around and saw Jerusalem Cafe. We decided to give it a try. Sandwiches and wraps included a side and choice of salad or soup. Salad is greens, tomato, onion, cucumber and olive. Produe is fresh. Vinaigrette is bright and lemony. While the salad was crisp and refreshing, I wish I had ordered the soup. Soup was warm and comforting. Both lamb gyro and falafel with baba ganoush are flavorful. Falafel had a slight crunch on the outside. Portions were plentiful. That includes the kids meals. The cheese pull on the children's pizza was impressive. Pizza is made with housemade dough. Looking at it made me want pizza. Kid's meal also included a side. Service was warm and friendly. We were greeted with warm welcome. We were checked on often. Our drinks were filled. We left feeling well taken care for.
