With succulent shrimp, tangy vinaigrette, the right notes of herbaceousness, and juicy fresh crisp garden veggies this salad has it all! Any meal at Jerusalem Cafe cannot be complete without starting the sit down off right with the falafel. Now, I can say my falafel fanatic level is pretty high, meaning at just about every Middle Eastern food spot I have to try a delicious crunchy fried chickpea fritter and savor it till the last crumb. And so far on my far east list of falafel favorites Jerusalem Cafe takes top place in KC. Jerusalem cafe is conveniently located in the Westport area and offers some healthy but delicious options! We got the hummus as an appetizer with fresh pita which was awesome! The hummus tasted so fresh and was seasoned with lots of herbs. I ordered the gyro with fries for my main meal and it was delicious as well. The meat was tasty and the fries were crisp and seasoned. I have been coming to Jerusalem Café since before they change locations. I'm not sure if management has changed but the service is still as wonderful as it was 20 years ago and the food only gets better. The new location is beautiful and well-kept and I get excited every time I come to the Westport area because I know exactly where I'm going to eat. I do wish that they made to go drinks they could fit in to the cupholder in my car but you can't have it all. I would like to specifically thank them for consistently, delivering great food whether I eat it in the restaurant or get it to go or even get it delivered, it is always the exact same goodness! read more

Came here for dinner on a weeknight. Was really feeling Mediterranean food, so Jerusalem cafe was 1. Close by & 2. Had gyros. Warning: this is in Westport, so parking can be tough to find. I personally hate street parking so I parked far away to find a decent parking location. The food: as an appetizer I got the "flaming cheese". Mainly was intrigued by the name, and honestly was kind of disappointed. For $10, you don't get that many cheese cubes, and the flame went out after 15 seconds...... I also got the lamb gyro that came with 2 sides for $10: I got fries & the Greek side salad. The fries were yummy: crunchy on the outside and I asked for a side of tzatziki sauce with them. The salad was not great (get the lentil soup instead). The gyro was okay---wasn't that impressed with the gyro meat. Mine was also drenched in yogurt sauce. If I come back, next time will get the flame grilled chicken instead of gyro meat on the sandwich. read more

Situated right at Westport, this place is a must go if you're around or elsewhere too. We ordered "Falafels" for appetizers which was absolutely crispy on the outside and flavorful and soft inside making it an absolute treat. It was paired with a garlicky tahini sauce which blended ever so well with the falafels. For main course we had the "Jerusalem style Chicken Shawarma Sandwich" which came with Greek Salad and seasoned fries and the sandwich by itself was really flavorful and had its spice blended in with the meat, veggies and fries and was wrapped in Saj bread which is rarity around here to find & "Chicken Kabob Sandwich" which came with lentil Soup & seasoned fries and it tasted equally good with the rich garlicky sauce combining the grilled meat and veggies ever so well. I heart Mediterranean cuisine. It's easy to make vegetarian friendly, relatively healthy, and I could eat some variation of chickpeas for every meal. We're branching out after breaking up with our old favorite, and this was a convenient option on a delivery app. Overall, this was good but not great, and while I'd go back, I'll keep soldiering on for a great spot. We got hummus and pita for an appetizer was kind of like my impression of the restaurant overall: good, not great. The hummus is almost whipped, and the consistency is nice. The flavor is just okay though, and I had to add some hot sauce (sambal) to make it more enjoyable. Pita is fine, but would be nice to have it toasted or warmed up a bit more. I ordered the falafel sandwich which came with a little lentil soup that was OK. The sandwich was nice though; you can tell they know what they're doing as this was constructed so well. The pita is puffed and loaded up so you eat it top to bottom, versus the taco style pita sandwiches that inevitably fall apart midway. The falafel was flavorful, and the tahini and tzatziki toppings made it even better. Overall it was good enough, and we'll be back based on proximity and convenience. It's not the kind of spot I'm compelled to shout from the rooftops about, but it's good in a pinch for a healthy dinner to-go. read more

Highly recommend if you want some of everything. $45 for more than 2 people can eat. With salads and deserts etc etc. Well worth it and yum! Staff: young but helpful. We ordered the tabouli salad ($7), Falafel and Hummus Sandwich ($10) and the Shawarma Dinner Platter ($19). The platter was a TON of food. I'll admit that I was a little sad that getting Jerusalem Cafe to go meant we wouldn't see flaming cheese delivered to our table. But other than than, you don't really miss a thing with carry out. And the portion sizes will feed you more than once! Husband and I got the Jerusalem Dinner Feast, which is easily enough for 3, maybe 4 eaters. We got rice (rather than fries) and one salad, one lentil soup. The soup was ok, but the salad is worth getting as both sides: it comes with a block of feta and dressed in an herby dressing that keeps it fresh. But the BEST things on the platter -- the ones I'll go back and get again -- are the luscious and moist falafel and the spicy sauce-kissed hummus and the gyro meat with tzatziki. And both desserts were delicious! The halva is like peanut-butter-chocolate freeze dried ice cream kinda? But man, very few desserts in all of KC could beat that baklava... Also awesome were the chicken and kifta kebob. (The lamb kebob was a little tough, but looked like it was perfectly medium rare.) There were some roasted veggies to go with, but I was glad we had the salad for a lighter option. Oh and snag a side of their special dill sauce! She got the mint lemonade and it was very fresh & sweet yet tart. I should have ordered me one. From the reviews I orders the chicken shawarma Jerusalem style, salad & rice. I like they choices of sides. She ordered the falafel with hummus then added tzatziki sauce. Mine was a little more bland than I was expecting. I didn't care for the fries inside the wrap. We ate at the Jerusalem Cafe in Liberty MO. we were greeted as soon as we entered the restaurant. Hazem was our server. he was the BEST waiter we have EVER experienced! he thoroughly explained the menu and answered all of our questions! he treated all of us like family and not just customers. it was amazing! the food was made quick, and was piping hot and all fresh! Hazem explained that the food is all made from scratch and cooked to order. All of the food had FANTASTIC flavor and took our breath away with how good it was! We ordered the Chicken Pastry Plate and a Vegetarian Feast. after serving us a wonderful dinner, he brought us the most amazing dessert and checked up on us multiple times throughout our meal. Hazem treated us like family even though it was the first time we have ever met him. this experience of great food and service puts this restaurant in our top favorite. we will be coming back and we will bring more friends and family to experience how great Jerusalem Cafe truly is! The food was wonderful. We started with the flaming cheese which was fun to see and even better to eat. We also had the flatbread with halloumi. The portions are good sized so expect leftovers and you will be grateful for them later. The lentil soup was wonderful even in July so don't hesitate. I was disappointed with the Greek salad. Mostly iceberg lettuce with one small piece of feta, one olive, one piece of tomato, and a piece of cucumber. Very bland. Very friendly staff and great service. Green tea was very good and the presentation was very nice. I came back a second time and got a spinach and feta flatbread. Very delicious.
