    Lamb Gyros Sandwich
    Ani K.

I loved my lamb gyro. Our server was friendly and efficient. The frozen lemonade didn't disappoint. The bowls were light and flavorful. The restaurant itself was spacious and had comfortable seating. It was too cold, though. I liked this place and would come again :)

We stepped in on a cold Saturday afternoon and were immediately greeted with warm hospitality from the staff, heat from the wood oven, and the incredible smell of great food. We ordered the Jerusalem Dinner Feast, which begins with hummus, falafel, and stuffed grape leaves served with pita bread and two additional sides of your choice. For the second course, you get lamb, chicken, and kifta kabobs topped with gyro meat slices and a side of tzatziki sauce. You finish with either baklava or halva for dessert. We were able to split the sides half fries and half rice, and we both chose the soup and baklava. Believe me when I say this is more than enough food for three people. Both the Jerusalem tea and the Turkish coffee were excellent and very enjoyable. After truly feasting for over an hour, we still took home a huge amount of leftovers, including meat, rice, hummus, and plenty of pita. The hummus and falafel tasted incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious.

There was a bug in my salad, the coffee had thick ass sludge at the bottom and I could taste the dirty coffee pot, the "falafel sandwich" on pita was a mess too. The pita was so thin I couldn't hold it without it breaking and I had a SINGULAR miniature falafel in there.

Jerusalem Cafe will always be a great memory for my buddy and I's late night adventures to Westport. Back when Jerusalem Cafe was just operating out of their food truck there. Now there set up has changed dramatically, the space theyre at now is honestly really nice and and they've done really well with making it feel more of a restaurant after a slew of other quick bite places gave it a go and operated out of this location. I've only dined out from this location, while the shawarma tasted good I was hesitant even try it because of the price point at 23$. The veggies were fine, they didn't have a lot going on and the salad dressing left a lot to be desired for the salad. I also tried their lentil soup and felt the consistency was not quite what I'm used to, much more thin and watery that soupy. Flavor was fine on that, nothing special. The baklava was decent, a bit dense but a nice treat. All in all I just think for the money there are better options out there for Mediterranean food. Jerusalem Cafe will get you by and leave you full though.

We stopped in here on a Friday night and were happy to be immediately seated. Service was prompt and friendly, the restaurant was clean and warm. I ordered a hot coco which was sweet and delicious. My husband ordered a gyro combo with lentil soup and I ordered hummus and baba gonoush with gyro meat. We also shared a delicious cheese flatbread. The flatbread was definitely the highlight of our experience. My husband did not care for the chicken in his gyro, but the beef and lamb was tasty.

Pretty good! Food was flavorful, but not the best thing I've ever had. Service was slow because there was one girl working as host and server on a pretty busy night. The restaurant is clean and open, but nothing too crazy!

Loved Jerusalem cafe! Great spot for our group of friends to have lunch. Our waiter was great and we were pleased with the timeliness of service. The lentil soup has to be my new favorite! The lamb gyro, greek salad, and lemonade were a few tasteful items! Do recommend getting your pita/sandwhich "Jerusalem style" with pickles, garlic sauce, and french fries added!

This spot is well-known by locals for serving up remarkably delicious Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes: Jerusalem Cafe! The second you walk through the doors, you can instantly smell the spices that are used to create their flavorful dishes. The gyro sandwich, the spanakopita, the Jerusalem Combo Mezza, and the famous falafels with house hummus are just a few of the must try items on the menu.

Overall, the food was tasty! I really enjoyed the lentil soup and pita - very yummy. The shawarma (Jerusalem style) was a little dry and didn't quite satisfy me, but the Philly cheese gyro (I forgot the exact name) was amazing - juicy and so flavorful!

Huge portions, delicious food, nice staff, and really cute restaurant (but there is a weird handle of two hands holding each other in the bathroom lol)

I like this place. It's really very good, and although the food has changed a bit from how it tasted back in the '90s & early 2000s when it was in the other location up the street when I was a frequent visitor, I still enjoy stopping by when I'm in the area. They have great hummus and traditional Mediterranean dishes, with portions so big I had a full meal to bring home. The staff is very friendly, and the large dining area feels welcoming. I do wish the pita was homemade, fresh, and warm, but it's still good. Overall, I like to swing by when I'm in town.

I love Jerusalem Cafe! I don't get over to Westport too often but I love to stop in for a gyro when I do. My most recent visit was on Christmas Eve. I ordered at the front, paid, and my food was out in no time. The individuals at the front were extremely friendly and helpful. And my order was accurate. I did take my food to go but the interior was nice and pretty large. I ordered the hummus and falafel combo. The hummus was really good and they gave plenty of fluffy pita bread. The falafel were crispy and flavorful. I like to pair the hummus and the falafel and I always have leftovers. I went with the gyro sandwich for an entree. I always opt for the beef and lamb but you can also get chicken. The gyro is good sized and they put lots of meat on it. Plenty of tzatziki and fresh tomatoes. The beef/lamb meat is delicious. It's so tender and juicy. The gyro comes with a few things too-soup or salad, and rice or fries. I went with the soup and rice. The soup is lentil and it's really delicious. I would order this by itself. They blend the lentils so the soup isn't chunky but it's a nice thick, creamy texture. And the flavors are on point. The rice is no ordinary rice. Again, flavor explosion! It really pairs well with a gyro. They have one of my favorite gyros in the city. Definitely check them out!

Placed order to go and got food before the time. Located in Westport. Darker tone to room. Nice and friendly staff. The food was pretty good. Sweet dressing on salad and the rice wasn't so flavorful as I would've expected but definitely loved the gyro and shawarma I order.

You feel welcomed the second you walk in, and somehow that warmth makes its way into the food too. I've tried just about every Mediterranean spot in Kansas City, and this one stands out every single time. It tastes the most authentic and the least commercial by far. Everything feels fresh, intentional, and made with care. Nothing tastes rushed or mass produced. There's real love in the food here, and you can taste it. Their dolmas especially take me right back to my grandmother's kitchen. That kind of food memory is hard to put into words, but if you know, you know. Comforting, fresh, flavorful, and made in a way that feels deeply rooted and genuine. With the World Cup approaching and so many people coming through Kansas City, visitors need to know about places like this. These are the local spots worth seeking out. The kind you leave talking about afterward and craving again the next day. And if they have the mint lemonade, order it. The rose lemonade is always incredible too. But honestly, I was a bit disappointed because I didn't feel the food was worth the price for the portion size. I ordered the combo kebab platter with beef kofta and lamb skewers, which came with two sides and that's basically all that's on the plate with one 4 small cuts of pita bread and some rice. It was priced at $21 plus tax. The food tasted good, but the meat portions were very small. The kofta had a nice smoky flavor but was really thin and kinda short, and there was only one lamb skewer stick with 4-5 mid sized pieces which were seasoned well but felt a little chewy. For that price, I expected more meat in my plate! Other places like Meddys, Hummus & Pita Co or Yafa Café serve larger portions for a similar or even lower price and honestly, their food tastes even better in my opinion. Overall, I'd give the food 3.5 to 4/5 for taste, and the overall experience also 3/5, mainly because of the portion size and pricing. Otherwise the restaurant itself was clean with good decor and had some pretty wall art. The staff were really sweet and happy to serve us with a wait time of around 8-10 mins.
