I had the buffalo chicken, bbq chicken, and the beef empanadas. They were amazing. Love this place!

Honestly The BEST Empanadas I've ever ate , I wish I took a picture but I devoured them , I'm vegan which is amazing to me that there's a empanada spot that has vegan options , I tried the Soy chorizo with plantain & the black bean with a side of that green sauce , I'm half Peruvian so i know that sauce very well lol also I couldn't resist so i got the guava and vegan cream cheese empanada as well , all soo good! I give them 3 stars because the delivery was as expected. Not one empanada missing. However, I just wasn't a fan. It needs more flavor but I guess it's catered to the community. The Buffalo chicken had some flavor. So, if you do order, I recommend that one. I definitely prefer more of a flaky crust but I knew that wasn't what I was going to get based off pictures on here. The green sauce taste amazing. They have a cocktail size guava and cream cheese which was good if you have a sweet tooth. I would recommend as well. read more

I was shopping at the opposite shopping center when I saw this from the other side of the road. I went there and attended right away by the owner. I got my beef and chicken empanadas with the salsa verde and buffalo sauce. They are warm and crispy let alone with the best flavors ever. Indeed, big surprises come in small packages. Just a simple little storefront, mostly selling from a small counter, but with a few seats to enjoy lunch. The specialty is empanadas in perhaps a dozen variants. There is a lunch special of any two empanadas, with rice and black beans, plus sweet plantains and a soda or other drink, for $10. The empanadas were as good as any I've had; I chose one beef and one chicken. Delicious, and the accompanying sauces were just right. I've never been so disappointed writing a review like this. I've been coming to this establishment ever since they opened. I JUST ordered via GrubHub and although the food came in a timely manner, the food is ICE COLD, and order was completely wrong. When I called to respectfully request to have my correct order - they said "that's not what we have on our end" and I said I can show you a screenshot of my correct order - and they basically did not care at all, and have no intention of correcting my order. I said Fine this will be the last order I'll be making and she said "ok." Wonderful to know my years of being a customer means nothing. I'll be dealing with GrubHub now to hopefully get money back. Yum, this place is a welcomed addition to the neighborhood! I ordered the special with three empanadas. It comes with rice and beans, plantains and a soda. For the empanadas, I chose the buffalo chicken, the spinach and cheese, and the black bean. The empanadas are baked so the shell is light and crispy, not greasy at all. The fillings were all flavorful and I was particularly surprised by the black bean one. It was very hearty and had just the right amount of spice. Green and red sauces accompany each meal and they were on point, so delicious. The rice and beans were also tasty and the plantains added a nice sweetness to it all. I devoured all three aforementioned empanadas, some rice and beans, the plantains AND a fourth nutella empanada which was fucking amazing. I know that the queso and plantain empanada is not touted as a dessert, but it sure tastes like one. Save THAT sweet empanada for after all of the savory ones. I'm glad to learn that the business at this location has expanded and took over the next door space. However, I have to say the customer service is not the same as before. I walked in and placed order. The persons who took my order remedy surprised to hear that I wanted 20 empanadas. She asked me to confirm the number twice. Then the other lady told me that I will have to stand there and wait for them to bake 20 empanadas even though there are plenty of them on the shelves. So, I told the lady I will get less than 20 because I can't wait. The lady looked at me confused. I had to tell her again my request. Both ladies looked like unhappy being there or having any customers coming in. No smile. I'm hesitated to go back. read more

I'm Peruvian and was super excited to see another peruvian establishment opening in the neighborhood. Jessy did not disappoint. I love the alfajores, traditional peruvian Pastry. She has an array of options but you can never go wrong with the original. The empapadas are delicious. Very nice little quaint place in Oceanside. Owners very friendly. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken empanada and the beef empanada. Both tasted great! But here is my complaint. I have eaten empanadas all my life and most were generously filled with meat. The empanadas at this establishment puts very little meat in them. It felt like i was eating much more dough then the filling. Picture this, you order a calzone and in the middle of the calzone was a 2 tablespoons of cheese. That what it felt like. I was very disappointed. They have to add more filling in their empanadas. I understand you cant make an empanada like a beef pattie. However, they need to add more. So my saying of the day to them, is "where is the beef" and "where is the buffalo chicken"? read more

Stopped in today, for the first time, to grab a quick bite. I haven't had a decent empanada since I was in South America, many years ago. I opted for a chicken empanada as well as one beef empanada. Oh my goodness! So very delicious! The pastry was crisp, and the fillings were perfectly seasoned. Jesse is a delight and runs a very friendly and clean establishment. Although the place is small, and can accommodate only a few people to "eat in," it's a perfect place for food, "to go." I was happy to see a family eating at the counter, and another few people ordering, after me. So nice to have good ethnic food in our neighborhood. Ample parking is available and the location is ideal. I wish Jesse much success - it seems she has a real winner here. read more

I love everything about this shop. My husband is vegan, but I'm not, and we both always appreciate when places accommodate us both. The storefront itself is understated and totally unpretentious, leaving the quality of the food to speak for itself. We went in around an hour before closing time, and were sad to find out that she sold out of the vegan empanadas for the day. Instead of turning us away, she made them fresh! My husband loved them. He had the chorizo and plantain, and black bean empanadas, while I stuck with chicken and beef, and we got them in a meal with rice and beans and plantains. Everything was so flavorful and amazing. Additionally, she carries Sweet Maresa's vegan macarons, and makes a variety of vegan and non-vegan desserts herself. Those macarons complete my whole life, and I love that they're on Long Island now! I have to say, though, that my favorite thing about this establishment is the owner's story, which she displays on the wall of the shop. All of the money she makes in tips goes toward supporting charities for children with Down Syndrome. Please go support this local establishment! read more
