Closed.... but still accepting online orders.... thanks Jets

***IMPORTANT!!!****. As of Feb 29, 2020 Do not order online until you confirm this location has re-opened if they ever do. Annoyed. Ordered online, came to pick up, only to be greeted by a handwritten note taped to the door that says Closed until further notice. Well.... then don't accept online orders to create headaches for customers who now have to go dispute the charge. Thanks Jets. Please don't order online until you confirm they have reopened, if they ever do.

Small restaurant right off Lake Cook Rd that serves Detroit style square pizza at reasonable prices. This is my typical alternative to Lou's or Giordano's pizza if I need to carryout around this area. However, the pizza here isn't consistently assembled well, at times slightly overdone, and can be quite greasy. When prepared well however, this can be almost as good as much pricier options of this style of pizza. It's overall very bready and depends on crisping up the edges, crust, and cheese to stand out for texture. But, at the same time the pizza can be a bit greasy for some people and there's nothing really special about the toppings.

This is how my pizza arrived The Grub Hubb driver had the pizza in his warming bag turned on its side. As you can see from the photo all of the toppings have slid to one side. Not sure why the driver wouldn't keep a pizza flat. Pretty sure I won't do this again. The pizza tasted great after I moved the toppings back in place.

Yummy pizza that is quick, easy and cheap. I like the four corners pizza, but that is all I tried here. Since it is a carry out joint there is not much more to say!

We ordered a kid's cheese pizza, fried calamari, spinach and artichoke dip, coconut onion rings, and crispy Brussels sprouts. We also ended up getting a deep dish. We had a party of 10. We made reservations and the table was ready. Our server was very nice and helpful. My wife was feeling hot and out of no where, the server came with a mini handheld fan and plopped it on the table which was awesome. We ordered Pepperoni Thin, 1/2 cheese, 1/2 cheese thin, Gfree Pepperoni, Gfree Penne with meat sauce, Brussels, and Onion Rings. The pizza was crisp and the cheese was nicely cooked. I really love the sauce as it has a nice little sweetness to it. The Brussels were good and roasted perfectly and had a nice drizzle of sauce. The onion rings were large and had crunchy. The server was very attentive and funny. We really appreciated the fan! They also had live music. I def will be back here.

I noticed a portrait on the wall next to the stand and inquired who it was. Her name was Sara Rowe, and it's a loving memorial to a long time Melman partner. Melman combined her first name, Sara, with a classic Italian suffix to create the name "Saranello's". It's an upscale restaurant with upscale food. But at a mid-scale price point, Thanks for that! The food: I had the baked eggplant parm, since I'm from Chicago. You know what I mean if you're local. And it's my new benchmark. Well done! The wife had the braised short rib ravioli. It's now her desert island dish. It's a very very nice space. And our server knew the menu backwards and forwards. Anyone who's had the grated "parmesan" in the green can will appreciate the genuine Parmiggiano Reggiano they serve here. Freshly grated with no cellulose, and that beautiful tang! With homemade tiramisu for dessert, and a glass of wine, the tab was about $75, but you get what you pay for, and you'll get what you're paying for here!

Now, after not visiting for quite a while we were there yesterday and I am VERY disappointed!! Their Frutti di Mare Pizza used to be great (and having lived near the Italian border I feel I can rate it) - now it's a Seafood gravy thrown on a breadbowl made of pizzadough. Bonta, if you change from making the real stuff then why would I come to you? I was so disappointed. (and - had I wanted this I would have ordered Pasta with Seafood and gravy. It did not taste bad for that but it was awful if you go there to expect an Italian Pizza! We also tried the Grilled Octopus appetizer - it was great just a little burned unfortunately. The Chicken Marsala was very good and also came with a soup that was good too. Again - the reason for me to go to Bonta was the Italian Pizza and this expectation was clearly not met. I might try another pizza but not that frutti di mare unless they get back to how they did it before The service was great, our waitress was very attentive!! (The owner walked around but she only talked to guests she knows as it seemed)

Our server (AJ) was fabulous and joked with the table - he made the experience enjoyable as well as the atmosphere of the restaurant. The hostess appeared wearing a blue-and-white striped sweater hanging off one shoulder like she'd stepped out of an Italian perfume commercial. Around her neck was one of those little cornicello pepper necklaces, dangling just enough to suggest fate had finally decided to throw me a bone. Blue eyes. Not "blue." The kind of blue sailors used to abandon families over. She laughed at one of my jokes. That was all the encouragement my diseased brain required. I immediately conducted a full tactical assessment of the restaurant. The P.O.A. Index... ...was approaching DEFCON 1. Every direction I looked was another devastatingly attractive waitress carrying Aperol Spritzes with effortless confidence. It was like wandering into a government-funded supermodel relocation program. Then... A shadow fell across the table. A man. Our waiter was a man. Christ Almighty. The emotional whiplash nearly snapped my neck. It's like going to the zoo hoping to see lions and discovering the enclosure has been replaced with an accountant named Kevin. There are beautiful women everywhere, and somehow I'm discussing pasta recommendations with a guy who probably knows three different olive oils by taste. Cruel. Absolutely cruel. To his credit, the b@5tard was outstanding. Friendly. Fast. Knew the menu inside and out. Kept the drinks full. Never interrupted. The s.o.b. gave me absolutely nothing to complain about, which only deepened my resentment. The food, meanwhile, was infuriatingly good. The pizzas arrived looking like they'd been blessed by an Italian grandmother carrying unresolved anger from 1947. Thin crust. Fresh mozzarella. Just enough char to remind you that ovens are supposed to flirt with fire, not electricity. The pasta had that unmistakable handmade texture that makes Olive Garden feel like a felony. The cocktails disappeared with alarming speed. By my third Negroni, I was convinced I could hear Dean Martin narrating my life. Walking out, I glanced back toward the hostess one last time. She smiled. For approximately three seconds I considered abandoning my entire life to become a part-time sommelier with absolutely no qualifications. Then reality returned. The male waiter handed me the check. Four stars. The food was phenomenal. The cocktails were dangerous. The hostess should be classified as an Italian national treasure. And our waiter deserves a raise... despite committing the unforgivable crime of existing between me and the waitresses.
