The items and their pricing are about the same with Tan Tan's at this moment. Moreover, Tan Tan Wok is also next door, there is a door for employees to go and back between two places. We'd waited for quite long for our food (due to busy night I believe, the restaurant was almost full while followed CDC guidelines). To us, the food was average. The staffs were okay (not attentive enough) Our dishes: 1) Spring rolls (pork and shrimp): 3 rolls cut in half for this dish. Meat was not much in my opinion: thin slices of pork, small shrimps, they are quite cold. To be honest, I tasted cold veggie mainly. (They should not be cold) 2) Duck noodle soup: good portion with a lot of duck meat. The broth was flavorful but quite salty to me. New restaurant that opened in the back half of 2020 with a menu that spans SE Asia (mostly Vietnam) but also has staples from China (sizzling chicken in black bean sauce). Kids enjoyed their respective noodle bowls, with generous portions of beans sprouts on top of the grilled pork. I opted for a fusion dish, shrimp pho, and it was OK, but I found the beef broth a tad too oily for my liking. Shrimp were perfectly cooked though. This is a COVID review. Experiences may be different during regular operations. Tried to place an order by phone - I didn't see any online option. Got hung up on. Called back and placed the order. While they confirmed the order back, I didn't catch a mistake until I saw it when I got home. Frankly it wasn't worth going back to get it fixed because it took 50 minutes to get my moderate sized order ready in the first place. Just based on my pre-taste experience, I'd have given this 1 star. They clearly screwed something up in the prep process because parts of the meal were cold in the 10 minutes it took to get home. Those items were a waste of money. The rest of my order had decent flavor. The grilled chicken was nicely charred. The pho was a little oily and sparse on the basil and sprouts, but I thats a hard one to guess on takeout. Like others, I found the rice cake to be pretty good. All in all, it wasn't a terrible meal, but there are a lot of better options in Katy Asia Town. I'm unlikely to go back once things are back to normal. read more

Overall review: Food portion is a bit smaller/price is higher than other Chinese/Vietnamese restaurants. Good service, food came out quick. We ordered 5 dishes: - Duck noodle soup: 4/5: flavorful broth, soft duck meat, supposed to be mì vit tiem but the broth didn't have that authentic taste even though it wasn't bad. - Wonton soup: 4/5: no noodle so there were 9 wonton. Good broth, decent size even though we have seen bigger with actual shrimp in each wonton (of course on Bellaire). It came with chopped meat (xá xíu), not even thin slices. - Fried rice cake (bot chien): 2/5 looker very good but rice cake was soft and soggy like tofu, you can't even pick it up without it falling into pieces. No pickled carrot & green papaya which usually comes with this dish. Sauce is on point. - Broken rice with grilled pork (com tam): 3/5: actual broken rice, good fish sauce, pork meat is on the dry side, thick cut, ok marination not "wow". - Beef steak cube with macaroni: 2/5: you have a choice of medium or well done steak cube, I chose medium. It did have pink in the middle but the meat was very dry, hard to chew and barely had any flavor, macaroni was meh as well, I had to add a lot of sriracha just to have some kind of flavor to finish the dish. Portion was disappointing considering $13.95 price tag. Will come back to try other dishes but will be more skeptical with my choices now. Jia kitchen is one of my favorite one. First time here and first time I open & review on Yelp. The food here is awesome. Atmosphere is really comfortable, clean, and nice. The service was pretty friendly too. We had a great and fun time on guessing the animals on each flower on their wall. She said if I can guess all correct will get a free appetizer. The area is easy to park in but because this is located in Katy Asia town, the prices feel higher than Houston's chinatown (which isn't a problem, at all). Unbelievable, my wife and I were trying to find a great new to try and we got tired of the old places. On a whim we drove around Katy area and ended up in Katy Asia Town. We drove around the parking lot and found Jia Kitchen. To emphasize how good the food was, it is on par or extremely close to how my mother used to cook these dishes on the same menu. The wonton was super good and authentic and surprisingly the shrimp was fresh and crunchy not hard, rubbery, nor any smell of chemicals. Egg noodles are my favorite! I ordered extra portion for $2.95. They have dry version and with soup version. The coconut fresh cracked was super fresh and good. The rice egg cake was delicious and reminded me of when I had visited Saigon in Vietnam and had street food. The spicy noodle soup Hue style with the interesting Pho Tai beef eye round combo was very good and tasted close to my mother's style of cooking. I hope you try this place and experience nostalgic tastes of authentic Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine. The service was excellent and they kept checking on us and took plates away to keep it neat. As I am typing right now they are full house. We will definitely be coming back for about 30 more dishes to try. read more

Just had their macaroni with diced steak Togo. I had my sister bring it home to me and I didnt need to microwave it or anything because it was still hot but I'm not impressed. My brother ate the same plate but at the restaurant and he too said the steak was almost well done. It was not juicy nor flavorful at all. This place is great! The menu has options for every taste, and the looping slideshow on their TV highlights many of the delicious dishes they offer. I got the Shrimp Noodle Soup, and it was AMAZING! The broth is so tasty, I can't get enough of it. The helping of noodles is very generous too, and the huge shrimps are filling. I left very satisfied. My BF loved the Vermicelli too. However, my BF was pretty salty that after about 1 minute, or about 5 sips, his 85% ice-filled cup of Vietnamese coffee was empty. When this place first opened it was great. Lately I feel like it is going downhill a bit. Their A1 banh bot chien dish, aka their famous signature dish, has been horrible the last few times I've had it. (It has been a favorite of mine for 30 years!) I guess I will have to drive to Bellaire Tan Tan when I feel like eating it from now on. The rice cakes have been so mushy the last few times, it falls apart as soon as you grab it with chopsticks. We have enjoyed everything we ordered here! We recently moved to Katy and are very happy that we've found our go to spot. We knew it would be good when we walked in and the owner of Pho Saigon was there with his family. We of course ha their mi hoanh Thanh Kho (dry egg noodle with pork and side of shrimp/pork wonton soup), pho (very very rich bone broth, very good) banh bot chien (egg omelette with rice cake and fried onions), chargrilled beef ribs rice plate, and viet eggrolls. What a disappointment, maybe too much hype. Staff was nice and food was not bad overall but couple of let downs makes this visit an average experience at best. Not too busy when we got seated but waiter disappeared without giving us a menu. We waited few minutes and still no menu so I got up to fetch the menu for our party. Ok, no big deal. We ordered quickly and first couple of dishes came out quickly, wonton soup and rice cake omelet. Wonton soup flavor was comparable to Tan-Tan but rice cake omelet was not as good. We'd also ordered a roasted chicken dish. I know roasted chicken normally takes longer than other dishes but my wait was ridiculous. Everyone in my party had finished their dinner before I got my chicken, 30+ minutes later. And the chicken I got was so tiny. It wasn't even a chicken, maybe a very small cornish hen at best and I paid $15 for this. If we go back, I will not be ordering anything roasted here. read more

This place is operated by Chinese-Vietnamese and they sell authentic Vietnamese food. My personal favorite is the rice vermicelli noodles with beef. A lot of the food on their menu is a bit similar to the other restaurant called Yummy pho and Bo Me which is located in the same plaza. read more

Update November 6 2019: originally 4 stars, now 5 stars Staff is perfect! Nothing I would change. The owner reads all reviews and actually changed the menu to add Vietnamese names. They also now give pitchers of water (and if you order it) iced tea at all tables to decrease wait time. They now seat you instead of the previous seat yourself, but service is quick and friendly. Food is still perfect! Favorites are definitely crispy chicken with sticky rice (number 33) , duck noodle soup (number 29) , and rice cake (number 1). Old review: Summary: (Soft opening Saturday October 6 2019 lunch) Food is delicious! Lacking staff and a descriptive menu, but smart self serve table for silverware and water, and super nice atmosphere. Long version: Food - The food on the menu is mostly Vietnamese food. Ordered banh bot chien rice cake, shrimp & pork spring roll, and duck noodle soup. Honestly nothing bad or critical to say about the food - photos are attached (both of the food, and our receipt so you can see the price - there was also a Soft Opening 15% off). The banh bot chien is exactly how it should be, and the sauce is great too. The fact that you can have both shrimp AND pork in the spring roll is awesome. The duck noodle soup has a great amount of duck, mushrooms and the egg/mi noodles. If I was to be super picky, I would only complain that our soup came out before all of the appetizers, which isn't a big deal, but somewhat confusing (why call it a starter if it takes longer to come out). Service - This is where they are the most flawed. Totally understand that they have just opened, and they do have a sign on the door that they are hiring, but their turnover rate is quite slow because tables are not being cleaned fast enough. This means that people are standing around waiting for a table which definitely is a turn off. They do have a table with water, glasses, silverware etc. but since there is a lack of staff and I ordered an iced tea (photo attached) it took a while for it to be refilled (and the glass size is... tiny). Atmosphere - The restaurant is super cute and aesthetic. The wall on the right side (picture attached) has a wonderful art design that's colorful and bright. The tables are bright, all with chairs (no booths) and the interior is well lit (even at night because we stopped by the night before to check out the menu). The bathrooms are gender neutral and have a fancy mirror that can light up if you tap a button. Concept/Menu - Some small corrections to make on this. When you walk in there's no sign (at the door) where it tells you that you can seat yourself and that you order at the register. There is a small written sign, but when there is a crowd you cannot see the sign. The order before you eat is nice for groups of friends who want to split the bill or order separately, but the small plates on the back table allow you to also eat family style if that's what you prefer. The menu is completely in English (photos attached) which although is good, is not descriptive enough and hard for non-native English speakers. Having the Vietnamese translations would be helpful, and having more in depth descriptions of the items would also be nice. For instance, specifying that the duck noodle soup has egg noodles (aka mi) in comparison to vermicelli (aka pho noodles). Saying "chicken noodle soup" may be confusing to American customers who aren't aware that Asian chicken noodle soup is different than American soup. Also specifying what kind of wontons are in the charsiu wonton soup, and some people may not know what charsiu is. The photos on the menu, although labeled, aren't directly next to the items (ex: switch photos 21 and 34). There is tons of space on the back of the menu to allow for more in-depth descriptions. There's a decent variety of dishes, but it seems like there are no vegetarian or vegan options for entrees. (Not a critique, just a comment). There are a lot of drinks, but for the size of the water glasses I would prefer shorter straws (or bigger glasses). Overall this is a great start to the restaurant and I would recommend trying it out. Food is super tasty, comes out quickly, and a great atmosphere to go along with it. Food came out hot but the staff was not knowledgeable and unorganized. The table next to us and behind us didn't get cleaned. Once tables left, there was no sense of urgency to get the tables cleaned. We had to stack our plates on there too. I asked if there was shrimp in the egg rolls and was told I don't think so. I said two people at this table have a shellfish allergy. I asked for sweet chili instead of the fish sauce. We waited for over 5 minutes and my husband had to get up. One of the servers said oh you want it now? My husband asked for no garnish and extra grilled onions for both of our dishes. This place is surprisingly good! At first I had no idea what to order. Based on reviews on Yelp, I learned that Roti with curry is a fan favorite. I now know why. Had something similar to Roti before, but didn't know its official name back then. It came out hot but creamy when dipping with the curry sauce. I also got the clay pot rice soup with chicken. It is basically the same as Cantonese congee, but not the boiled one（生滚粥）. My husband got the charsiu wonton noodle soup which also reminded me of a close assembly in Cantonese cuisine. Thumbs up for the food and the service (servers were really attentive). One star deducted because I cannot grab the to-go boxes myself, which were displayed in the back and apparently available for all customers. The #1 appetizer is good, closest to Tan Tan I've ever had but the wait staff was poorly trained...I'm not a big fan of wait staff tHat tries to memorize your order and it comes out wrong or in my case, NOT AT ALL...Didn't like the fact that the food all came out at all DIfFERENT times!!!
