There was a good selection of meat, veggies, & seafood, & noodles. There is a 1 pound minimum which is easy to do with all the options available. I went with sticky style level 2 & my boyfriend went with pork broth level 2. Our bowls arrived & wow it was a lot. Mine was thicker with the peanut sauce but it definitely helped balance the spice. It was slow burn. The pork broth was a hard punch with the spice. Both flavor profiles were something ive never experienced before. Very unique. Although our mouths werent burning, we both probably could've gone level one. I took the leftovers home & it was spicier the next day. We got some drinks to go, the mango green tea smoothie & the grape green tea smoothie,both with cream. They both came with jelly at the bottom. Again, unique. You pick what you want in your bowl at the self serve bar and then weigh your amount and pick a broth to cook your food in. The self serve bar isn't super extensive but it does have your basic ingredients. I tried the dongbei style soup in medium spice and the pork broth. The spicy broth was not bad and the pork broth tasted rich and almost milky! While eating, I noticed a rush of customers come in for drinks so I had to try. The worker recommended the dahongpao milk tea and the mango pomelo sago drink as their more popular drinks. The mango drink was yummy but the milk tea unfortunately tasted watered down. This spot has lots of seating and is self pick in toppings for hot pot. Really appreciate this style as you can select how much to put into your meal. I got myself a variety of toppings and tried the tomato soup based hotpot. I thought the broth was more on the sour and salty side, got zero spice, can see myself trying the pork broth with level 1 spice next time. Also got to try the grape green tea smoothie and it was really refreshing. Can't say the produce looked the most fresh on first glance but it was tasty nevertheless. Service was quick! Update: went back to try their sticky malatang and I really enjoyed it! I will say that if you go during a time when there are slightly more customers the produce will be fresh and stocked up very well. The sticky malatang at level one spice reminded me vaguely of the same spice level as shin ramen. We went here for my friends birthday party, they charge for pound for the stuff you put in your hot pot, honestly feel like it's a scam, the bowl itself it's already half a pound. I put a baby octopus in mine and I was chewing that thing for days, I had to spit it out sadly. The broth is good and also the avocado boba was amazing. read more

I have high hopes for this place but major improvements need to be made. it was busy when I came in on a friday night. the area to grab the ingredients and pay is quite small so there was a crowd of people hovering around. ingredients selection was disappointing, in an already small selection, many ingredients were out or close to out and weren't restocked in a timely manner. some ingredients like the seafood options weren't displayed in the most appetizing way. they require at least 1 lb for your bowl which I found difficult to meet as selection was sparse. after ordering they give you a number and you find a seat. utensils and napkins are in a pull out drawer in your table on the side but mine was empty and so we didn't have enough utensils for the table. it seems like they don't give you water unless upon request. I think it would be nice if they had a self serve water station. although they were busy and severely short staffed, the food came out in a timely manner. the food itself was actually pretty good. the broth was flavorful and spicy. I just wished it had a little more depth but overall really good. the ingredients were cooked perfectly. the vegetables still held their crunch and noodles were al dente. my friends ordered drinks and I had a sip and they were good! my friends really enjoyed them. my only concern is that the person making the drinks didn't have her hair tied back while working. i'm hoping that jiaocai can work out their kinks because I really enjoyed the food. it just seems like they lacked the manpower to make the restaurant run smoothly. i'd be willing to come back in a few months to retry and see if they were able to smooth things out! read more

After eating lunch around the neighborhood, we decided to stop by Jiaocai Meow Tea on a Saturday afternoon. Upon entering, the layout of tables were setup to optimize for their soon-to-launch malatang. There were a handful of groups waiting for their drink order and the two workers seemed occupied with keeping up with the orders, which prompted me to order from their kiosk instead. After receiving the drinks, I pondered why they used this cup and lid for a milk tea that was cold. Perhaps it was due to ordering a small size instead of large but I wasn't able to appreciate the depth of color of the tea or see the boba pearls. Per recommendation from a friend, their 50% sweetness level is not very potent so I ordered 100% sweet and it was tasteful. The flavor of the milk tea was quite fragrant but the brown sugar boba lacked the consistency that I was hoping for. It had a slight crumbly texture when chewing. read more

I have high hopes for this place! We came on the first weekend that they had their soft opening and ordered a mango green tea smoothie and peach oolong milk tea. Both were amazing. The tea flavors really shone through, which was surprising since I think its rare in smoothies. The boba was chewy and just the right level of sweetness. It did take a little under 30 minutes for both our drinks, but they are still new so I think the staff is still getting the hang of making them. We have been here a couple of times now and this time they have the malatang option available so we decided to try it out. We got lucky and beat the rush as it filled up after we ordered. They have a simple selection of items to build your bowl with. I didn't see the sign that you need at least 1lb per each bowl and had to add more on the second bowl. We made a few bowls each with a different broth. I thought the Dongbei Old Style broth was flavorful, but slightly salty for me. The Sticky Style was decent and the Vegetarian broth was nice and clean. The salt and pepper chicken were a bit on the bland side. They do have great drinks, which gives it that added bonus. New boba and malatang spot! The malatang will open next month. Inside has ample seating, a fridge section for the malatang, and the counter area. I got my drink in 4 minutes but I was the only one there. The strawberry green tea smoothie with cheese foam has a vibrant strawberry flavor, includes water chestnut jellies, and very mild tea flavor. The cheese foam is nicely salted too. I am excited to come back and try their malatang. I do wonder how they will handle the foot traffic inside because the fridge selection area is crowded by tables right now. read more

I got the mango pomelo sago drink and it was decent. Similar to hey tea mango coconut boom from heytea, but not comparable. Due to a peanut allergy, I couldn't eat the mala broth. I got the vegetarian one instead. It was a decent mushroom based broth. The meats and vegetables were not very fresh when we went. When asking about stocking more of the cabbage, the employees I asked did not know what cabbage was. There is no sauce bar, which would've made the meal a bit better.
