Run Away! Run Away! If you value your life, your car or your money, go somewhere else. I had multiple problems with the 'service' I received, and am now taking them to small claims to cover the repairs my car needed after they touched it. The services I requested: oil change, tire rotation & cabin air filter replacement. 10 Ways in the Berkeley Franchise and Jiffy Lube Corporate Suck: 1) At the counter I asked that the cabin air filter be replaced. I asked if they had it in stock, and the rude franchise manager Joe C. informed me that since the computer says they have it in stock, they have it in stock. 2) It took them 1.5 hours to "finish" despite there being only two cars in the three bays when I arrived. 3) It turns out my cabin filter is special, so they didn't have it after all. 4) I get in my car and the passenger side dash is covered in multiple full hand prints of oil. 5) Two weeks later I take my car to the dealer to get the cabin air filter changed, and they notice I'm missing a lug nut. They start looking into it further, and realize that there are problems with 3 of my 4 wheels. Two of the lugs (the bolts holding on the wheel) are stripped, and need to be cut off and replaced. I'm informed that it's not safe to drive with a front wheel effectively held on by 3/5 the bolts it's supposed to be held by, and so I get to spend a couple of unexpected hours without my car, and get a couple hundred dollar repair bill. 6) While waiting for my car to be fixed, I go back to Jiffy Lube. The same manager is present. He gives me multiple excuses about how they do quality work, and couldn't have done this. He then complains about the wording on the work order from the shop that spotted the damage: It stated something to the effect 'customer requests lugs and missing nuts be replaced.' Since it was worded as 'customer requests' he then had the audacity to blame me for the damage, and say that I knowingly damaged my own car, and brought it to the other shop. I had already repeatedly told him at this point that the other shop had found the damage. He then said if I could get the other shop to reword the work order, he'd submit my repair bill to their claims department. 7) Which was a lie. I went, had the other shop write up exactly what they found along with 'technician noticed damage during multipoint inspection..." The terrible guy then had the audacity to further blame me for the damage to my car, saying I must have had a flat tire and am hiding it. That might explain issues with one, but not with three wheels. 8) So I called corporate. I was on hold for 25 minutes before talking to someone. 9) While filing my claim with corporate, I was told the franchise would contact me in 3-5 business days. That didn't happen. 10) Two weeks later I call corporate back, and find out that the Berkeley location is willing to refund my the tire rotation (yipee) and offers my next service for free, but will not cover the repair costs to my car. Don't go here! I haven't written a review in a while, since I've kind of realized that most of my day-to-day commercial interactions aren't that memorable. In general, capitalism seems to work: I go buy things, and I more or less get what I paid for. Unfortunately for me and my car, someone should probably explain that principle to whoever changed my oil at this particular Jiffy Lube. I'll be the first to admit that I don't know much about cars. That's why I'm getting my oil changed at a freaking Jiffy Lube in the first place. You'd think that a franchised oil-change place would have high enough standards to properly change oil. But alas. Shortly after I got my oil changed at this location, my oil light started flashing intermittently. Checking my oil level, I found my oil tank almost dry, so I added a quart of oil and the problem went away. Temporarily. The problem started again after a few days, so I took my car to a mechanic to have it checked out, and lo and behold, my drain plug was conveniently missing and my oil filter was improperly replaced. It was your typical Jiffy Lube experience - they kind of vacuum, kind of wipe down windows (not that there was much of a difference as compared to before), and try to tell me that my car needs all kinds of service. First time here And Last time!!!!! I decide to change my oil on my to pick up my wife and daughter from girls scout camp in Fairfax, CA. On 10-4-2015 I have my 2001 Chevy Venture Van ! I was in at 9:44am and out by 10am on my way to Fairfax after crossing San Rafael Bridge the van start shaking and the low oil Light came on and shut down. I open the hood I notice I had the same old used oil filter and old black oil. A empty windshield washer reservoir. I call and toll them what they do to my van? I tow it back to them they were going to check it on Monday morning. The manager very rude did not wanted to give me his name kick me out the property. That they not at fault. They change the oil again and oil filter but the damage of the engine is done! They covering up there bad service! He told me my van has a miss fire! Of course is going to have a miss fire!! All my engine components are broken! From valves, camshaft, crankshaft, levers, timing chain. They told me they not at fault. I have photos sending complaints to BAR, BBB and there corporate office. Never come here! Look at other people reviews!! I am guessing the manager name is Richard since he fits the description of being rude! Bad costumer service! Bad service! They own me a new motor! Shocking, truly abysmal. So bad I have to write a review, which is not something I'm usually compelled to do about a chain franchise. My experience was bad enough: 40 minutes (at 3pm) to be told they can only change the oil and not the filter because the filter is not in stock. Then I have to type in my own address because the clerk does not understand me. It is not a language problem, more that he is wearing a huge bluetooth earpiece over his ear in a garage, and thus cannot hear a word I am saying. However, the guy in front of me got the real treatment. He goes to pay, and hands over a 7 dollar coupon he had received in the mail from Jiffy Lube. "Too late", says the clerk," you should have given me that before i rang it up, the card has gone through now". " I did give it to you before" politely protests the customer, "when I got the estimate, but you told me to give it to you later. " They go back and forth with this a few times, during which the clerk makes no effort whatsoever to apologise and infers that it is the customers fault. The attitude is pouring across the desk from the clerk. I can tell the customer started off feeling a little sheepish about a 7 buck coupon, but is getting really riled by the clerk being so rude. Eventually the clerk goes back into the garage and returns a couple of minutes later. "You'll have to speak to him" he says, waving his arm in a general westerly direction "Who is "him?"" "The guy in the grey shirt, he's the manager". Pause. "So do I go out there or is he coming in here?" Out and in goes the clerk again "Sit down, he'll be with you in a minute." 25 minutes later, customer is summoned outside like a schoolkid and asked what the problem is, I hear him explain patiently, and then be told that he should have reminded the clerk before they rang him up. Now in a state of disbelief, the customer checks repeatedly "let me get this straight, this is my fault, for not reminding the clerk". "Yes". The manager eventually processes the 7 dollar coupon, and all in the waiting room make a mental note to go elsewhere for oil next time. And maybe an air filter if they behave themselves. read more

This Jiffy Lube, not that any of them are very good, but this particular Jiffy Lube is absolutely the most unprofessional incompetent group of people I have ever seen working in one place. It's like the interviewed and selected people who had the least amount of social skills and intelligence, but who could screw things up the most. When I rolled up to this place and scoped out the crowd, I was terrified and fantasized about reversing and peeling out of there, but then I thought I shouldn't be so judgmental. Unfortunately, as a result of my conscience the value of my car is now depreciated, and the life span of my car's engine is now significantly reduced. Why is this the case? Because... I drove to Berkeley from New York so naturally I needed an oil change when I arrived here for the new year. I have used Jiffy Lube back home because they offer the convenience of fast service. The Jiffy Lube here in Cali is not only fast but they were very friendly. They recommended I use synthetic and I agreed. Fast forward to today to receive my free refill, Anthony did a great job with that, completing it in a few minutes. He also reset my computer to show 100% oil life and put air in my tires per my request. He was very professional and helpful, great service once again, thanks guys! read more

When I called them last week Wednesday and asked if they have the oil filter for my car, they put me close to 5 minutes on hold to check. I didn't mind it so much, as the answer was an enthusiastic "Yes, we do! Come by anytime." It has to be noted that they asked me twice to confirm that the filter is for that specific car, of that model year. So I go there on Sunday and pull in just to have one of the guys shout at me that they don't carry the oil filter for my car. When I told them that I called in a few days ago and they confirmed that they do have it, he just shrugged and said that a new shipment is coming in on Thursday and to check back then. And when I asked whether I can put in an order for that oil filter, they flat out said no. They might get it or they might not. After calling two friends to complain about this experience, they both said that Jiffy does that all the time. They tell you they have a certain product or part and then it turns out that they don't. What a waste of time. I'd rather spend my time and money at a place that is honorable and keep its customers satisfied. I usually go to Jiffy Lube to get my oil changed because it's a reasonable price and there are various locations so it's convenient whenever I need one. I went to this Jiffy Lube the other day to get a simple oil change and they advised me to get a tire rotation but ultimately left the decision entirely up to me. I knew I needed one anyway, so I agreed to get it done. The workers here were so polite, fast, efficient, and even made me laugh! The only thing is that they forgot to reset my oil change maintenance light. However, they told me if anything were to happen like I need a top off on liquids, that I could just go to them. I've been coming here for years and even when they are slammed and you have to wait so long it's mind numbing every employee there is ridiculously charming so you never leave unhappy Even if you're set on it. Y'all are the bees knees and that's why I come all the way from Oakland. After reading some of the so-so reviews I wondered but a long due oil-change and a very attractive coupon made me decide to try them out anyway and I am super-glad I did. Absolutely everything about the experience was top notch! - Not only were their prices better than anyone else, but they were also very professional from start to finish. I knew it was also time to change the transmission oil, and indeed they pointed that out in their checklist. The price for that - again - was better than other places I had checked ahead of time - and I approved doing that work as well. All other aspects of the service were excellent too: easy to get to, very short waiting time (Thursday 10am), the guys' attitude was very professional and the waiting room is great with Auto and other magazines, a coffee machine, and a very clean restroom. On top of all the above the car was vacuumed, all windows were washed, all fluids and lights inspected, tire pressure adjusted and everything was recorded on the final receipt. Good job Jiffy Lube. I hate cars, and only have one for emergencies and long trips. I think everything about cars and car culture is wrong, and are at the root of most of humanity's problems. That said, like most good American hypocrites, I own a car, though use it rarely - for emergencies, and trips to the beach and mountains. And so once or twice a year - I drive about 5k miles a year - I need an oil change. The Jiffy Lube on University in Berkeley is an oil change place, and like any other, they change your oil and check your fluids. But the SERVICE! Oh my, these gents are a class act - extremely professional, kind, patient, friendly, communicative; so good it's almost enough to make me want to drive more. Almost. So if you find yourself owning and maintaining a petroleum-fueled cage with which you propel yourself down the block or, god forbid, to work or to pick up the kids, you'd do well to let the fine fellows at Jiffy Lube handle your fluids. I can't imagine there's anyone better, faster, or more pleasant to handle a task that should be, by all rights, a thing of the past. read more

Immediately called location and manager blatantly refused to address the situation, he took no responsibility nor try to apologize. Website says shop opens at 9am I arrived around 9.30am and the shop was still closed and the employee said they wouldn't be opening until 10am because the guy with the key isn't answering his phone. I overheard a lady complain about them not being open when they were supposed to and the employee THAMMA gave the lady a $5 discount for being late. When I asked for the same discount the employee THAMMA replied "Well you could have taken your car to get a oil change somewhere else , no one told you to wait or to come here." Employees there are lazy and make u fill out your mileage . I made a guess of my mileage and they put exactly what I guessed . Wow! Took my car for rear differential fluid change. They did the work. Few days later took my car to the dealership for transmission service. Mechanic told me there was leak in the back for rear differential fluid. I took it back to the jiffy lube and guy told me there is no leak! Today I got the oil change from different mechanic.
