I come here for inspections only, as I usually do maintenance and repairs myself. The building is in a convenient location, is relatively clean, has free WIFI and they are generally pleasant people. Inspections are just like anywhere else, you wait in line, they take 15mins and you're out. From what I could tell, the employees seemed proactive and interested in doing the work quickly and efficiently. Car passed and after I paid, the guy who drove my car out of the shop held the building door and car door open for me. I guess they have to do it, as we exchanged very awkward glances, then stared at the ground and left. If that's the worst part of the experience, I can't really complain. 3 stars. Nothing to tip either way good or bad. I'll be back with the next car. read more

Took my VW here a few months ago. They changed the oil, but when I took the car home, oil leaked all over the driveway. Huge mess. Took the car back and they told me they forgot to empty the drip pan, but that there was nothing left in there. Took car home again and it leaked again. Took the car back and they emptied the rest of the oil in the pan, then told me to go to ACE to buy some cleaner that I could use to scrub my driveway. Instead of making it right by sending someone to clean the Exxon Valdez of Durham, they offered me a free oil change next time. Not even a refund! I will not be returning. read more

I tried to get my Lexus ES350 inspected at the Hwy 54 (Hope Valley Commons) store. They weren't busy, but still took 20 minutes to tell me I needed to have my brake fluid system flushed and refilled.The guy showed me the fluid reservoir; the level was clearly between the two "lines." I asked how much for brake fluid; the guy said, "No, it needs a full flush." $99 I'm told. I said no thank you and he refused to give the car a passing grade. No brake light flashing, my fluid was between the maximum and minimum, new tires, car is in tip top shape and he refuses to give me a passing grade unless I let him do the brake fluid work. I understand a guy trying to sell his services, but this was beyond the pale. I immediately took my car to my garage-guy, who doesn't do inspections. He checked it out and I'm fine -- no brake fluid or flush needed. read more

Every time I've come to this Jiffy Lube I've felt like they're trying to scam me. Every time it's something different... Either, this is dangerous for your car, you need to fix it. Or, this could cause your engine to burn up. Or, you need to upgrade the kind of oil your using to this kind that is $15 more. And if you don't listen to what they recommend, they're extremely rude to you. It's only one employee that makes me feel that way every time. And that's not comforting as a woman whose father is a mechanic, thus I know how to take care of my car and change my own oil, I just don't have the tools to do it here in Durham. I have had good experiences at jiffy lube, just not at this location the past 2 times. I would not recommend coming here if you don't want to feel arm twisting. I won't be back. read more

TL;DR- Double check any services they recommend you get here yourself or see your dealer, they are more than willing to lie to your face just to get a sale. Getting my oil changed here was fine, but as we were talking about what kind of oil I'd like to be put in my car the man working me with tells me that my coolant reservoir is COMPLETELY EMPTY and that I should get my coolant flushed... for $119! I said no thank you and went home to check on my levels and, if it needed it, replace my coolant myself. Went to check the level and, lo and behold, it WASN'T EVEN LOW! There was plenty of coolant left. The audacity of this place to lie straight to my face simply because they believe they can get away with it is DISGUSTING and only ensures that I will never go to another Jiffy Lube again. If you think that just because I am a woman you can sell me completely unnecessary items you are sorely mistaken, and I will be telling anyone who will listen to me to never go to this location, or any other Jiffy Lube. read more

This location is both inept and dishonest. They attempt to up-sell you with unnecessary services and upgraded oil types. My car calls for conventional oil, which I have always used, and they argued with me that it called for synthetic. I changed the oil the time prior and after the Jiffy Lube service and found that they had stripped the drain plug by using the wrong socket size. On previous trips they have left the old oil filter gasket on causing there to be two, which of course leaked. They also left the oil filler cap off which caused oil to spew across the engine compartment.This is the third problem caused by the same Jiffy Lube location for a simple oil and filter change. I will never use another Jiffy Lube for any automobile service, they cannot even handle the most basic, routine maintenance. read more

I dropped my car off at 4:25pm with the assurance that it would be inspected by 5:00pm when they closed. I returned just before 5:00 and was told that their system could not connect with my car and that I should come back the next day to try again. A few minutes after I left I realized that I did not have my registration card, so I turned around and hurried back. While in the process of closing the shop the attendant I spoke with was trying to ask the others if they had seen my registration card and was told that they never took it out of the car. He looked in my car and of course it was not there, so he searched the shop himself and found it on the wet, nasty floor!!! My registration card was handed back to me soaking wet and creased with dirt. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be back!!!!! I hesitate to believe that they even tried to inspect my car. read more

Scammers and horrendous customer service. They tried to scam me and upsell me nearly $200 because I'm a woman. I maintain my car well, and it is in great condition. I needed a quick oil change, and that's it. From the time, I walked in, the guy at the front desk was so cold and rude and mumbling to the point I could barely figure out what he was saying. He did not have any semblance of customer service skills or social skills for that matter. Furthermore, he tried to insult my intelligence and scam me because I'm a woman. After I tell him the type of oil change that I want, he tries to insist that I get the higher priced one that would be $100. I stand firm and tell him to stick to the type I requested. After the oil change, I'm called over to see my car. He has the hood open and starts pointing at random shit, not even at the correct parts at that, and stating bullshit like my radiator needs to be flushed and that the oil is corroded (oh look, how it's brown! *eyeroll*). BULLSHIT. Again, I stand firm and have to be insistent repeatedly that I came here for an oil change and explicitly stating that I'm not paying him that. I came here for the type of oil change that I requested. AND.THAT. IS. IT. As I'm checking out, he continues on with this rude, cold, angry demeanor and attitude. I mean it just wasn't anger, it was like a level of serious rage that bubbling under the surface of his skin. Really, just a disgusting, rude attitude and tried to literally scam me out of HUNDREDS of dollars because I'm a woman. Went back to my trustworthy, regular mechanic. We talked about this incident too, and he was like, yeah, you definitely did the right thing. Don't fuckin try to scam women, young people, or anyone for that matter. Also, they did NOT do a single thing on the list of complimentary services and yet they checked every single one off. Tip to anyone going to any kind of mechanic, always stand firm and get only what you came in for. Take before and after pictures in case they tamper with your vehicle. And ALWAYS get not just a second opinion, but a third and a fourth before even THINKING about paying more for repairs or maintenance. read more

Everything went fine except for the suggestion to replace the battery. This is a rough narrative of what took place... ---- The technician shows me the battery test printout showing that the battery is dead: "Your battery is dead. We can replace it... we are currently running a special $30 off $150. The battery can be serviced at both AutoZone and Jiffy Lube." I reply, "Oh, OK. The battery is still under warranty, so I'll have it replaced where I purchased it." After declining the suggested services, I walk back to my seat. As I process the battery situation, I realize that I should have taken the test printout. I go back and ask for the printout a few minutes later. Technician looks for the printout, "Here it is. But, let me make sure it's correct." He leaves and checks with another technician about the report and comes back a minute later, "Apologies, this is the wrong report -- your battery checked out fine". ---- I don't want to presume that I was being scammed, so I will write it off as a genuine mistake. However, even as a mistake, it lowers the quality of service quite a bit in my mind. If you are told that you need something done and you think that you don't need the service, please have them double-check your car. read more

The Jiffy Lube staff at this location are second to none. They go out of their way to be courteous, helpful, and professional. My cars have been here twice for a minor service and, in both cases, I thought I was dealing with emergency situations. On both occasions, the repair required a very minimal solution. My trips to Jiffy Lube didn't cost much but I was made to feel like their most valuable customer. Kudos to these guys! I would not hesitate to bring my cars here for anything. read more

I've used Jiffy Lube on 54 for 5 years. I've also always used the 36 dollar Groupon. Which covers the oil change, tire rotation and rain x. Today however I was charged an extra 8.36 on top of my groupon. I have NEVER been charged anything additionally in 5 years. I think that it is really bad business to offer a coupon and then add additional charges (out of blue). With the additional charge and my groupon my oil change total was more expensive then the 2 Customers who left before without using a Groupon. I do not require special oil so that was not the additional charge. The point is they have lost my business. Pep Boys charges 29.99 for an oil change and simply put I was not happy with how a frequent customer was treated today at Jiffy Lube. I'm a woman but I'm no idiot. My oil changes and inspection will take place elsewhere. Bad business. read more

I arrived at Jiffy Lube right when they opened at 8am. I left at 8:35 with an oil change, tire rotation, and inspection. They vacuumed out the car and washed the windows. The employees (I spoke with three at various points) were all polite and professional. I really can't think of anything to complain about - I did have to adjust my seat when my car was returned to me (gasp!) but that's really nothing. You could argue it made the 15 foot drive from the bay to the pickup zone safer... As to price, I happened to have a Groupon, and they were running a promotion that gave 15% off of some services. Between the two, I paid half of what the "full price" services would have cost. My wife has had similarly pleasant experiences at Jiffy Lube. They're always fast and friendly, and there's usually a coupon or discount to be found. I'd recommend them. read more

I had a great experience in this shop and would recommend the services to anyone. I went in for a simple oil change and the technicians promptly got to it. I didn't wait long at all, like you would at most shops. The manager that day, Martin, even explained that I needed to get a couple of other things done to my SUV soon but none of it was immediate. Where can I start. I have spent thousands of dollars at this place and the only things they have been good at are lying, changing oil, and state inspection. I wouldn't trust them with anything else. They use after market products that break down quickly. Had my belts changed there and power steering pump which they did a horrible job. My car was still making the same noises it was in the first place. The "Super Mechanic" said "Oh your belts are supposed to squeal when you turn the wheel". What a GED incompetent liar. I feel they got their degree from Toys-R-Us. I had to take it to Kia the next day who said everything they did was wrong and had to pay twice because This Shty Lube on Hwy 54 wouldn't refund my money. Now my fan belt has gone bad which I replaced about 5 months ago from there and I gotta get that fixed again. Avoid this place read more

I went to this location at the end of July, for an oil change. Then my car was suddenly started losing a lot of oil, so I took my car to the dealer to have it check out. Come to find out that the guy at Jiffy Lube put my oil filter on wrong causing a oil leak. He said if I would have gone another day I would be buying a new motor. I purchased a Groupon for an oil change, tire rotation and it also included Rainex on the windshield and vacuuming the interior of the car. I also had my NC inspection during the visit. I'm not sure they actually did everything in the 15 minutes I was there. I had to ask about the Rainex on the windshield and they didn't do the vacuum inside. I took a trip the following week and had some car trouble and they discovered two of my lug nuts were missing. When I got back I took the car by and the manager was very nice and told me he would order the lug nuts and would have them in a few days. Four phone calls and two visits later I finally got them put on today. I checked in and ten minutes later they said that someone was going to get them and it wouldn't be long. This was after I called on Saturday and the manager told me to come by today. He knew then he didn't have them. Not happy with this place. read more
