Went to get a simple oil change, and came out with my car making weird clicking noises. Will not be going back there again.

Months ago I went in to purchase a 4 set of tires. After purchasing the tires I asked if my transmission fluid could be checked, and how much it would cost to re-fill it. They offered to do it for free since I already purchased the tires. That sounded like a great deal-- I don't think any logical person would turn it down-- so I agreed. But the deal was a clandestine type. Which I don't understand how that is allowed. I did not realize the nature of this promotion, until after the service was completed. I drove home, and within hours my car stopped working, its a pretty new model so it was really odd that it just stopped suddenly. Later after consulting with many mechanics I found out that transmission was damaged due to the lack of transmission fluid. Therefore, leading me to conclude that when the transmission fluid was replaced by Jiffy Lube, they either did not add the right amount or did not seal it right and caused it to leak. I went back and explained the situation to the manager, and he deflected any type of accountability. He was a bit rude about the entire situation, even though I was willing to work things out in a polite and civil manner. I did not want to post this, because I am the type of person that understands that we all make mistakes. What I did not appreciate was the lack of responsibility. I hope they are able to get better management that is able to understand the severity of circumstances and take responsibility for their actions. Scammers! They charge double what the dealer does and you leave wondering if the oil was ever changed. And they always try to rip you off by telling you your car needs something else. Go to an actual mechanic or the dealer. Avoid these fast oil change crooks if you can. read more

Just finished up at the Jiffy Lube off of Hollister. The guy that helped us was named Tim and man was he a kind, personable employee. You could definitely tell that he was a kind soul and not just business friendly. He helped my husband and I with a quick oil change and gave some amazing advice on care for our vehicle without pushing their services too hard. Also, Jiffy Lube offers free top offs for wiper fluid and oil, you can't beat that! While the price was about as expensive as you'd imagine, their quick and friendly service definitely rates them at 5 stars. read more

OMG TALK ABOUT COMMUNITY AND SERVICE!! I'm a working struggling Latina student at UCSB from San Diego I hit a curb while turning (I turned too fast and too soon). Went here to get an oil change and had these comments. 1. They said the wait would be an hour but they had my car in service in less than 30 mins, so that was great. They were vacuuming and doing smaller checks before getting to the oil change and were diligent in getting my car ready to drive so I could carry on with my day. 2. I like the fact that this location has female workers versus men. Way to break the stereotype and be quick/helpful/respectful. 3. My problem. They quoted me 100$ for just an oil change because my car runs on full synthetic oil and I needed the 100$ oil change...apparently, but then I immediately went to the Honda dealership down the road and got all of that done and then some for 50$. So, what's up with that? Stars for the work force and speed, minus three stars for that triple figure quote. $$$ read more

*UPDATE* Goleta Jiffy Lube manager, Peter Garcia, personally followed up on my review and issued a refund. I appreciated his efforts to resolve a disappointing experience. ------------------------------ Worse experience than any auto shop that I've been to thus far. As I pulled into a parking spot, the guy walks up and opens my door asking what I was doing there. After telling him I was coming to get an oil change, he just replies "this isn't where to park" and offers no suggestions of where to park. This is the guy who actual does the whole intake and transactions in the Jiffy Lube office, he's so bitter and really sucks at any kind of customer service. I only decided to come here because of a groupon, but that was such a mistake. One day after leaving, an engine light came on and after taking my car to a local shop near my place (Kiwi's- they're awesome btw!) they found tears in my air filter tubing and TOOLS left in my hood. I almost laughed out loud... I can't believe how much of a joke this place is. I don't usually write any reviews but damn, please save yourself and find somewhere local instead. read more

Incompetent Break things Manager will argue with you. I requested tire rotation - they forgot to do it. I reminded them. They broke a lug nut off and told me it was my problem. Rest of the lug nuts were hand tight. I drove off and noticed severe tire wobble at 30mph. Brought it back - manager argued with me that they had done the job correctly and the lugs were tightened to spec. He told me to go to another tire shop and fix the problem they caused. Also there was another customer there. They had broken the transmission fluid dip stick as well. He had been there for several hours while they fixed the problem they caused. read more

This place is so bad, I can't even believe it is still open. I've had 2 terrible experiences with them and now my car is ruined. I had a 2001 Honda Civic that I bought after my first year of college at UCSB. I didn't even think twice about going to Jiffy Lube because it was easy and I had gone there in Illinois growing up with no problems. You would think that if your one job is to change oil, you'd have that skill down pretty well. Clearly not. The first few times I got my oil changed here in college, it was fine. I just denied the endless amount of things they tried to sell to you and went on my way. In winter of 2011, I went in to get my oil changed and when they drove my car out the man got out and I drove away. Not until I got home and opened my door did I realize they had miraculously dented right in front of the door and if I opened my door too much, it would make an awful sound like I was bending the frame even more. Needless to say, I went back instantly and of course, there was nothing they could do. I was baffled that this could happen at all. It was so ridiculous that it happened at an oil change that a small part of my thought I had just done it and not noticed. even though there was no way anyone wouldn't have noticed this. After that, I went to study abroad and was gone from SB for awhile. When I came back I really needed an oil change before I could start driving my car and I didn't have a lot of money so I went back just to get it done. Well, about 2 months later (~3,000 miles) my car broke down in Paso Robles and it turns out there was almost no oil in my car. Both repair people I took it to said it was most likely the last person who changed it had not done it correctly and I was going to have to get another engine which would be more than my car was worth. I had to sell my car for $500 when it only had 115K miles on it. Don't ever go here! If your only job is to change oil and you can't even do that right then clearly your shop is a POS. If this is your only option, don't even drive your car, its not worth it. read more

Went to Jiffy Lube on Hollister to get a simple oil change. Prior to going I went to the official website, goletaoilchange.com, and printed a coupon for their "Value Oil Change Plus!" The price on the coupon is $24.99. When I arrived at the location and was called the the counter the technician says the coupon has expired. Funny I printed this from their website, but whatever. He tells me he will look up the current promo code for $5 off. He has me sign something indicating a price of $49.59, but that he will apply the discount and $35 dollar regular oil change when they're done. Fast forward 45 minutes (he originally said 20-30) and I need to leave and get back to work. I get called up to pay and the total is $47.81. Im pissed but late getting to work and need to leave. A couple things: They charged $4.99 for "oil beyond fill capacity". When I signed the first set of paperwork under the section "oil level on arrival" it says FULL! What is it Jiffy Lube? No $5 discount as promised. They charged $10 for "MDA Fuel System Cleaner"? Again, this is listed nowhere on the original paperwork. This place is a total bait and switch. And they rely on you being rushed and not having time to argue. I will never go back here and will tell everyone I can to go somewhere else. Last thing... When I paid and needed to leave, the technician tells me I need work on another unrelated part of the engine. Obviously they don't work on that part at this shop, because when I try to engage him and ask what is wrong and how urgent it is he literally says "no big deal" and walks away. Do NOT take your car to be serviced here unless it is your last possible option or it's an absolute emergency. Both of my experiences have been horrible! My last was on 08/06/10 when I purposely went to get my oil changed so that they would check/add power steering fluid. My car had started making noises while turning, so I had specifically asked them to look into this matter. They assured me that everything was ok & that the fluid level had also been fine. Even after the oil change, my car was still making noises so I assumed that there must be an issue w/the power steering pump. But no, all I needed was to add fluid & the noise stopped immediately. If these people are too lazy to even check fluid levels as is guaranteed w/every oil change (especially when they have specifically been asked), then god only knows what half-assed job is going on when they're changing your oil. DO NOT GO HERE!! read more

I wasn't sure about going here because of the bad reviews, but my experience was just fine. I brought my car in because it needed an oil change and the tires rotated. Nothing was pushed on me. They showed me both of the air filters in the car. I knew one was pretty new and they said it looked just fine. The other looked filthy and I didn't remember when it was changed so I chose to have it replaced. I was outta there quickly and all the car is just fine. read more

Just went to this Jiffy lube this morning, there was a person in front of me. Their wait time was accurate and the prices they quoted me over the phone were accurate, didn't try and throw in anything without telling me and they washed my windows. I did notice that the windows weren't super clean after they had washed them, and it was a bit expensive for just an oil change, but all and all good service. read more

The guys were great. When I called at 5pm to ask what time they close, they said 6pm. Then I asked what time they take the last car in for an oil change, and he said 6pm again. A lot of times these places are shutting down 15 minutes before they close, not staying after. They were helpful, offered advice but weren't pushy, and all very polite. I was in an out in 25 minutes, but even if there was a wait, it would have been worth it. read more

Came here early about 15min after opening with the hopes I wouldn't have to wait long. I was greeted immediately and taken inside while the serviceman pulled my car into the stall for me. They offered me complimentary coffee and water while I waited. After about 3 minutes they came in to get some information and offer prices etc. The man was very helpful and super polite as he took down my information. He said it would only be about another 10 minutes and I would be on my way. VERY PLEASED with the fast and friendly service I received here at jiffy lube, plus they had a groupon making their 45$ oil change 25$ or 30$ (one has a tire rotation included) After I posted this I got into my car to find they topped off my fluids and even vacuumed my floorboards!!! Don't recommend- actually probably JiffyLube in general. Their base price for any version of oil change is higher than most others so it's a 'find the coupon' game with them all the time to be competitive. Right across the street is a less expensive option- literally right across the street. Plus there's is the constant attempt to up-sell on useless services or type of oil even for cars where manufacturer doesn't recommend higher cost oil. So if you like the hard sell interaction, as you would receive on any used car lot- by all means go to this JiffyLube. read more

Had a really disappointing experience here. Came in a week ago for an oil change and they told me I needed my struts in the front replaced. They quoted me and everything. I made an appointment for a week later (2/1) and it seemed like everything was ready. I came in at 8 am for my appointment, drove 20 minutes for it l and the man i approach says he had no knowledge of this appointment. He proceeds to make some calls and told me that his tech would be in at 9. So i left my car, went to class and then i get a call at 9:45 saying that they couldn't do what they had quoted me for. They had my car for 2 hours and couldn't tell me when i had dropped it off? So now after my class (which is when my car was supposed to be done) i have to drive back 20 minutes and take it somewhere else. and inconvenience the rest of my day for a 5 hour procedure on my car. Super inconvenient and didn't receive one apology. Definitely will be taking my business across the street from now on at Big Brand, they were more than accommodating and straight up with me. read more

They were honest and told me exactly what needed to be done and what could wait. As I pulled away they noticed my brake light was out and fixed it at no extra charge! Beware of them trying to upsell you! I just took my son's car in for an oil change. The woman behind the counter showed me 2 dirty air filters and said they were from my car. She said the 1st air filter came out of my glove box and was for my cabin, but it appeared to be bigger than my glove box. She said the 2nd one was my engine filter. However, I replaced mine 2 weeks ago, plus it was a different shape. I told her so, and she got a funny look on her face and said that she was just worried about ash and put it away. Then I walked out to the car and looked under the hood to check the air filter box, and it was still screwed down. I warned the next person in line and will be calling the BBB. When I got home, I double-checked, and my air filter is still new and clean and definitely not the same shape as the one she showed me. read more

Don't go here. Other than the usual upsell BS, they are incompetent. My girlfriend took her car there for an oil change and they talked her into replacing her wiper blades. It didn't really need to be done but that's not the problem. They took off the old ones but forgot to put on the new ones. She discovered it when she was driving down the 101 and went to wash her windows. The initial offer from Management was to offer a free oil change in the future. As if I'm ever going there again. They eventually did return my money and put the wiper blades on. The prices are cheaper at the dealership and they don't put your life in danger. read more

I guess I just expect to pay a bit more because it is a national oil change station and I use synthetic. I found the service to be on point. Quick, polite and explained the service. Minor up sell on the air filter; but I simply said "no thanks" and that was it. Apparently, I get free "top offs" which is good because my son lives in IV and it will need it. read more

I'm pretty shocked with the low rating here. I came here last week for an oil change. It was kinda pricey, but they do a whole check up (&printed out the report!), put air in my tires, cleaned my windows, and vacuumed the interior! This was quite impressive since it was done within 45 minutes upon arrival and there were a roomful of people waiting too. Oh, and on top of that when I presented a coupon for an oil change, the gentlemen who helped me hinted there were better coupons online! Saved $10 and it was the best oil change service I ever got :) Overall, excellent customer service and the staff seemed super happy to work together. Definitely will come back. read more

Over the course of Five years going to Jiffy Lube I've never had the worse costumer service in my life, they were charging me $140 for my oil change which used to cost $110-118 so I asked what's the sudden change in pricing. They checked back in my history and noticed that they've been giving me the wrong oil. So now I have to go to a mechanic to check if my engine is damaged, and all they were going to do is give me $10 off for my oil change. Never going back again! read more

I give this review two stars because the actual oil-change service is adequate. Turn-around time isn't necessarily "jiffy" but is reasonable enough... In hindsight my rating should be 1.5 stars or less. I take my 2015 Accord Sport to a local Honda dealer I know and trust for oil-changes and service. With Honda's online coupons oil-changes only run about $40... $10-15+ LESS than Jiffy Lube. And from an actual Honda dealer. So the best (possibly only) thing JL has going for itself is you can drive in w/o an appointment and get out fairly quickly if it's slow. My overall negative opinion of JL is their people. More specifically, the way JL trains their employees to be shameless, up-selling salesmen, as supposed to customer-oriented auto technicians. ZERO ill will towards their employees that are just doing their jobs. The last time I went to a JL I wanted an oil-change on short notice before an impromptu trip to Vegas the next day. Only a few customers were in when I got there but still took over 2 hours from arrival to departure. And despite me telling the guy "I just want the basic oil change; no extra services or inspections" OF COURSE I got the 10-minute spiel about things they inspected and found were less than 100%, and how they strongly recommend I proceed with "x" amount of these repairs. With factory dealers offering great pricing on even the very basic services of their vehicles it's difficult for me to see a need to take my new-ish car anywhere else. At this point I'd need a somewhat strong financial convincing to even consider taking my car to a place like Jiffy Lube, that has a deserved reputation of charging exponentially high prices. read more

You ready? Here is your truth sexism story.. My lady was working and had an hour free but she could not leave work. She needed an oil change. We are from Los Angeles. She sent me to get her oil changed. She gave me a coupon for something like $35 for an oil change. I show up. Give them her Car. Ask for an oil change and for them to check coolant levels. They tell me immediately that I'd have to take the car to a mechanic to check coolant. I say "ok thanks guys". What else do I know? Before replacing things they call me up and say the cheapest oil change is $44.00. I pretty much say "ok". I know my own mechanic. I know his prices. I don't know jiffy lube. I also show the mechanic a coupon for $15 off which my girlfriend gave me to take to them. Guy says it's cool. When it's time to pay he says the coupon is invalid for unimportant reasons... I really didn't care. It's my girlfriends car, not mine, and if she really cares about $15 I'd give it to her. WELL, She cared. She ordered me to park in a lot across the street so she could work her magic. She walks into the place and says "how much is your cheapest oil changed?". "$35.00" "Well my boyfriend just came in with a coupon. You denied the coupon and charged him a minimum of $44.00 for an oil change. I'd like you to credit my card please. This place was amazing! The customer service was great. A co-worker told me that he thought my truck was leaking oil - I had it changed at another place the week before. Jiffy checked and fount the oil plug was not tightened and was leaking - even though a busy day. They appropriately tightened the plug and topped off the missing synthetic oil. All in 20 Minutes - saving our day. read more
