It took THREE FULL HOURS from being 1 car length behind the "Safety…read moreInspection" sign at the entrance to finishing my safety check (they don't take appointments). There is no sign or person indicating anything about the wait time at any point, and once you get past the entrance, you're trapped in the line with no way to exit for at least an hour. From the entrance, you can't see the whole line or tell how many cars ahead of you are waiting for inspections - no way to guess how long the wait might be if you haven't done it before. The staff person who did my inspection was not very friendly, and when I said "I really wish you'd put up a sign that says it's a 3 hour wait" (without a rude or angry tone, just weary), he ignored me and just told me how much I owed him. No hint of kindness or apology for the insane wait time. I wish I had read the reviews, because this seems to have been an issue here for at least a year. A simple sign to set expectations or even just kind words from the staff could've mitigated the horrible experience.

Ladies, if your tire pressure light ever comes on and you're not sure how to put air in your tires, just stop by any of their locations. They'll check your tire pressure and fill your tires with air free of charge. If it's something more serious, they'll inspect it, patch the tire if needed, or help determine what's causing the issue. I highly recommend this company and am proud to be a longtime customer. They've earned my trust, and I'll continue coming back for all of my tire and wheel needs.

I spoke to Archie on the phone and told him that I wanted to use their current promo coupon for an $89.99 oil change. He said no problem. However, when I arrived for my appointment, Archie said that the coupon was actually only good for $10 off, which brought the total amount to about $110 ($10 being taxes and fees). That's $10 more than advertised. Not a huge deal, but a little annoying. I tried to argue that the price/coupon didn't make sense or add up, but got nowhere. Although it didn't sit right with me that Archie kept gaslighting me about the coupon, I agreed to proceed at the higher price because I had taken time off from work, already driven down for the appointment, and it was only a $10 difference. Before handing over my keys, I noticed that the safety check wasn't listed in the paperwork and pointed this out to Archie. He responded that the safety service wasn't listed in the appointment notes. I asked if they could still do the safety anyway, and that's when things turned really weird - he said "respectfully, I'm going to decline servicing your vehicle altogether." When I asked why, he said "I don't want you to have a bad experience." Well, I had a bad experience so I guess that failed. I've never had any business refuse service before, especially after misleading me about the price and messing up my confirmed appointment. I went to another shop in town and had no issues. In summary: only come here if you want bad service, false promises, and a waste of time.

Both of these gentlemen are extremely knowledgeable, super friendly, courteous, fast and efficient! Although, the location is on the other side of the island from where we live, it is well worth the travel over the mountain because of the time you save making, to me anyway, a huge value! Still do not need to get out of the car but just need to get your required documents ready as well as the mileage since they will ask from you verbally and check your odometer. Need to follow the staff instructions as asked and they do check window tint. They usually take out the old safety stick and place new one on your bumper but this time, the staff just placed it over my old which I didn't like. I tried asking but no time so maybe next time... This place can get busy since I had to park on the side and wait in line queue outside and reversing back into traffic on queen street can be intimidating at times when it is busy after all is done. $27 safety check fee which includes tax (but add $3 more if paying by debit/credit card). Some stuff changed but still I would still consider this place again for safety check and for convenience.

They're so good at explaining what happened and I've never felt ripped off. The reception area is nice with AC, water, and a TV, plus a huge perk is that they pay for your one way ride share from the shop after you drop your car off.

After reading the awesome reviews, I came here to get my oil change. I called at 5:30 to make sure that they were still open and the worker on the other line was so helpful and friendly! She told me to drive down as quick as I could because they take cars till 6 pm. AWESOME! As soon as I got there I was immediately approached by one of the mechanics and received awesome service and info about my oil change options. A second mechanic also came to move my car. My car was put into the garage quickly and I was seated in the waiting room in no time. I was there for roughly 20 minutes for an oil change PLUS they changed my air filter. Compared to a 1-3 hour wait at Sears just for an oil change, this Jiffy Lube is the bomb! Overall, the customer and mechanical service is EXCELLENT and the work is done in a very timely manner. I definitely recommend going this this place for an oil change. Jiffy Lube (Punchbowl) = fast, friendly, reliable, and top notch service PS. I suggest going with their Signature Package which includes a top off of fluids and a whole lot of other auto checks, not to mention carpet vacuuming and window cleaning! read more

I came in for a routine oil change on my 2020 vehicle and left with major issues. Right after driving off, my car started sputtering, misfiring, and all the dashboard warning lights lit up. I turned around and brought it back immediately. After several hours, the team couldn't identify or fix the issue. I ended up towing my car to a nearby Honda dealership. After a proper diagnostic, they determined that the oil filter installed during the Jiffy Lube service was faulty and had been over-tightened. Once the filter was replaced, everything worked fine. What made this experience worse was the lack of support. I asked the general manager for the district manager's contact information, but they refused to provide it. I only managed to get the email address through a friend who previously worked for the company--and I'm still waiting for a response. This experience was incredibly disappointing. The issue clearly stemmed from their service, but there's been no accountability or follow-up. I would not recommend this location to others. read more

Being leary of any auto shops I was so happily surprised by this Jiffy Lube. Going there for originally just a Safety Inspection I also realized I needed an oil change. After getting there around noon on Sunday, I was able to get in and out in 20 minutes....INCREDIBLE. Michael met by my car outside and made everything easy, Vincent came in where I was enjoying my tasty FREE coffee and showed me my filter which was still good and to wrap it all up, Paula went over my check list and helped me in regard to another issue. FANTASTIC!! Will go no where else and after the dreaded drive to start, I thought, a time and wallet consuming process turned into a pleasant surprise with great Aloha spirit. Jiffy Lube is a long standing business with a good reputation and that goes without saying. What does need to be said is how a business goes beyond good service, beyond doing its best, and does what it takes to express true Aloha in its operations. This is especially true for Albert S. and the Jiffy Lube Team at the Punchbowl location, who went out of their way to help me when I pulled into the station with a blown tire. Without hesitation and in the midst of a busy afternoon, they offered to help and Albert worked to get me back on the road while serving others. Horrible Unprofessional! I saw they got 4 and half star on Yelp thats why I went there to do oil change. Everything went ok at first place. But After it finished and I drove my car to Pali Highway, my car suddenly started shaking and stop in the middle of the Pali eventually. It was only 5 mins I drove from there!!! It took half hour for they to come to the place and found out that they forgot to tick on a pipe!!!! WTF! I had to say sorry for every car that passed by. What a memorable day! It was just a simple oil change and they brought me such a headache. It was the first time I went there and the last time for sure! The store wasn't busy, so I went in to check if they are still open, and there is this one bold head guy sitting inside next to the glass, I tried to talk to him. But he didn't give me any response. So I made a turn and trynna leave, he came out yelled at us "what you doing". Then he lead us to the entry with a really inappropriate attitude and voice and giving me weird instructions to move the car into the building. I was angry at the time, so I just leave with telling him to trade his customers nicely in the future. No wonder why this jiffy lube is so quiet and other two are busy with employees like him. read more

I usually dread having to bring my car in for repairs/oil change/inspections ect, because I almost always get ripped of and mistreated. This was not at all the case at Jiffy Lube on Punchbowl st. As I pulled in, Chelsea immediately welcomed me and asked how they could be of service. I was 5th in a long line of cars. I was in and out in like 30 mins!! Everyone was nice and extremely helpful! Lesson learned. I ultimately had to fix the truck myself. While most mechanics can hear, most mechanics can't listen. Communication is a major issue here. No contact with me before they replaced new, original manufacturer parts I had installed but charging me big for trial-and-error part swaps (SEE PHOTOS). I'll give the short story first before I get into details. IN SHORT: I took the truck in with a check engine light recording a P0305 (sometimes P0300) engine misfire. The truck was at Punahou shop for 5 weeks (plus two days). Nothing was fixed at a cost of nearly $1,700. The shop was tired of dealing with it and resorted to the "engine needs a rebuild," which was a diversion from their inability to find and fix the real malfunction. With truck returned, I bought test kits and reviewed the engine symptoms. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor, which stopped the engine misfire and the check engine light. I also replaced the fuel pressure regulator to fix very low fuel pressure at the fuel rails. Now, the engine starts at first turn of the key, accelerates without stutter/hesitation and has restored engine power under load to factory standard. THE DETAILS: I took the truck to Punahou Auto Service on March 6 with a misfire issue. I told them I had replaced everything from the distributor cap to the spark plugs and fuel injectors. They said an engine diagnostic starts at $650. I said no thanks at that price and asked them to remove the engine head unit and have it rebuilt (the truck has 160K miles). We had a verbal agreement, so I spent the next days believing this work was underway. The next Friday, they called and said the truck was fixed. By the time I arrived, they told me oops, the check engine light came back on and there was still the engine misfire. Before I left, I reminded them that they were tasked to remove the head and have it rebuilt (not do as they please). I was told nothing about cost at this point. Two more weeks passed, so I called to check the status of the head rebuild. They told me over the phone that they were sorry, but the past two weeks a Ford Ranger pickup was occupying the mechanic who had worked on my truck. I was upset that my truck sat for two weeks after they worked on it the previous week, but I remained calm and polite. I came into the shop the next morning to take my truck out of their shop in as-is condition, but they told me I owed them $1,100 and wherever I take the truck next the same fees for diagnostics will be charged again. Nothing was fixed and they had no clue what was causing the misfire, but said they think they are close to finding the problem. They talked me into keeping the truck in their shop. I was told the expense was currently at $1,100 so I no longer wanted the engine head rebuilt (they said it doesn't need it). Week four, they called on Good Friday before Easter to say they can't fix the truck so come get it. I arrived and paid the bill, which had increased to $1,659.55. None of the parts replaced were told to me in advance. I had recently installed those parts. After I paid the bill, the shop owner said the truck's engine is shot and the computer has the truck in 'limp mode', so I need to drive it at a top speed of 5-10 miles per hour or have the truck towed. Again, I was upset but remained calm and polite. I asked how did I pay so much money to receive my truck in this condition after I could drive the truck at 70 mph before I brought it to them? The shop owner agreed to keep the truck to get it out of 'limp mode'. I called the following Tuesday, but still not ready. This was week five. I finally received the truck in mid-April. The owner walked with me and I started it up. It didn't want to start and when it did, it was sputtering. I was frustrated and told him the truck always started fine on the first key turn. His replied that I need a new engine. I drove the truck home with the check engine light on and the misfire. Immediately, I bought test kits. I tested compression - all good. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor and the misfire stopped (check engine light also deactivated). I still had the hard-to-start/crank engine issue, so I tested the fuel pressure. I removed the fuel pressure regulator, which had an obvious dent in it. The valve inside seemed to be jammed open, preventing fuel pressure. I suspect the mechanic dented it because fuel pressure was fine before. Also, the wires to the Idle Control Valve were so taunt around the lower intake plenum that one was pulled out of the control valve. I had to replace both damaged parts. Now, the truck fires up on the first key turn and the engine runs without a sputter or hesitation on the accelerator. The engine power is back to factory standard with no misfire or check engine light.
