I love Jiffy Lube. Service in downtown location is better, but still a great deal and they are friendly enough. They were quick and attentive and I'll be back.

Waiting room. Free coffee from the Keriug.

The price they gave me was nothing compared to what I would have been charged at another place. I definitely recommend them, and I'll be back and refer them.

Dropped off our car for an 8:00 a.m. appointment with five requested items:…read more * Intermittent EPC light * A/C controls malfunctioning + Extra small items needed support with as already taking it in for 2 main items above: * Burned-out headlights * Rear wiper replacement * Stuck headrest Summary: We were charged a $110 diagnostic fee for EPC, $110 diagnostic for lights (ha!), $70 for windshield wiper replacement, $40 for headlight replacement. We spent over $320 between the diagnostic and basic maintenance items (still trying to figure out a $110 diagnostic for light swap), yet the two primary concerns we brought the car in for were either dismissed or pushed into another paid diagnosis. That's difficult to justify from an independent shop that relies on customer trust and reputation. Details: - No communication all day after dropoff. We had to call at 4:00 p.m. and were then told the car wouldn't be ready and we'd need a loaner and to come get it. - Had to scramble for a loaner because no one bothered to update us. - Google says they're open until 7:00 p.m., but we learned from the on-site dispatcher the service staff leave at 5:00 p.m. After that, only someone handing out loaner keys and answering phone, with no knowledge of vehicle status or access to notes. - EPC diagnosis resulted in "no fault found". Full diagnostic charge anyway. If there were no codes, no findings, and no direction beyond "bring it somewhere when the light comes back," what exactly was the diagnostic fee for? Apparently it didnt cover all items we checked it in with either (A/C continued...) - The A/C issue, listed at check-in, wasn't addressed at all. At pickup, we were told it would require another diagnostic charge and keeping car for longer. Why were we told to come pickup car then if service wasn't fulfilled? Why not call and communicate that so we could decide before driving down expecting to pickup with services fulfilled. - Headlights & rear wiper: Replaced. Thanks for handling the simple items we could've easily done ourselves. We only added them because the car was already there for the larger concerns. - Headrest: Not addressed because there were "no notes." No offer to have us bring it back, no attempt to make it right, despite it being listed at check-in. The biggest disappointment wasn't that every issue couldn't be fixed (understanding EPC intermittent problems can be difficult to diagnose). The most disappointing part was management's response. Instead of acknowledging the communication failures or incomplete service, manager/owner doubled down and was defensive rather than solution-oriented or taking any accountability, only noting you should have been told we needed it for 3-5 days. Other than that, exact words: "I get paid to have all the answers" and "I have been satisfying my community". They defended the charges and the process despite contradictory from check-in. I was also told the A/C required a separate diagnosis, despite it being one of the original reasons the vehicle was dropped off. There was no ownership of the lack of communication, poor explanation for why only some of the requested items were evaluated, and no effort to make the experience right. Paying premium prices should come with premium communication, transparency, and follow-through. Instead, we paid $210 to hear "no codes found," and we figured out we needed to swap lights, ha! (plus +110 for basic swaps). Then, we were told to pay for another diagnosis on an issue we already reported (A/C), or to take it in elsewhere for work, and left with fewer answers than we arrived with. 1 star: thanks for a last minute loaner at no charge, though reminder, we had to call to even try to understand what was going on (and even at that, didnt get feedback!)

Downey Car Care Center was going to charge an additional $289.47 for a brake caliper that was not needed and an additional $152.10 for a brake fluid service had we replaced the caliper. While Downey Car Care Center highly recommended the caliper, Alex's Auto Repair stated they did not want us to waste a lot of money if the calipers were not the problem. Truly grateful for Alex's Auto Repair prompt responses and amazing customer service. They verified the caliper did not need to be replaced. They simply lubricated our caliper. We were able to save over $400 and we are grateful. Thank you for your ethics, honesty, and time. It truly makes a difference. They responded quickly, were courteous, and didn't try to tack on a diagnostic fee just to take a look. When I dropped off the car, the technician walked me through their process, starting with the bulbs before moving into any potential electrical issues (which I really appreciated.) It ended up being the simplest fix: both bulbs were burned out. They had everything replaced within a few hours. Fair pricing, clear communication, and no upselling. I'll definitely be back for future repairs. Side note- they have the cutest shop kitten. ‍

I had been here once before and had a great experience, so when my car's AT light went on…read moreunexpectedly one night I called them first thing the next morning to see if they could get it in. They said they could and gave me a timeline for working on the vehicle that matched my needs. While I appreciate them getting me in on short notice, they consistently over-promised and under-delivered on when they would be able to work on my vehicle. They were able to diagnose a couple of leaks that they thought were the problem and sent me photos to show me what they were looking at. In the past when I've left my car at this shop for work they sent over a detailed estimate before starting the work, but this time I only received the verbal estimate over the phone. I drive an old car, which isn't worth much, and I did let the person know that I wasn't interested in investing more in repairs than the vehicle is worth. As it was, the two leaks were just over $1K to fix, and I OK'd the work to begin. After fixing the first two leaks, they then came back and told me there was a third leak, which would require a more major repair to the transmission and they would have to have their transmission person (who wasn't there that weekend) send me an estimate the next day. While I understand that it's plausible that the third leak wasn't something they could have originally diagnosed, it felt a bit weird that the photo they used to show me the leak was one of the original photos they had sent before starting any work. If the leak was visible in that photo, I'm unclear why they couldn't have diagnosed it earlier. The added cost of this additional repair definitely tips the scales of worth-it/not-worth-it to repair vs replace this car, so I wish I had had all the information before deciding to make the initial repairs. Unfortunately, despite stabilizing the ATF level, fixing the leaks did not resolve the transmission issue. On a smaller scale, they didn't check or top up the tire pressure, which most mechanics I've gone to have done as a courtesy when working on my vehicle. The day after I picked up my car the tire pressure light went on, and when I checked my tires all four of them had low pressure. It's a small thing, but especially when dealing with expensive mechanical items like cars, the small things matter a lot in creating a sense of security and trust with your mechanic. They did mention that they were under new management since the last time I had been in, which may account for the different experiences.

Came in today to get 1 tire changed and the manager was some middle aged guy with a bad attitude like he hates the world. Outright hostile and rude to customers. I dropped my car off at 12:25, I guess it was around 12:40 when he actually checked me in (I would come to learn this later). He told me it would be about 2 hours. I said okay that's fine, walked around for an hour and came back to wait in the lobby. I asked how the car was doing assuming it would at least be up on the lift by that time and he snapped "It hasn't been 2 hours I said AT LEAST 2 hours." I said yeah thats fine i was just curious if they'd started on it. Then again, an hour later he walked into the lobby and I asked how it was going. He sarcastically replied "I'm doing fine." Then I said I was asking about the car and again he got upset, raised his voice and said "I said it would be AT LEAST 2 hours until they started on it. I only have the one mechanic here." I get only having one mechanic but there was only one person ahead of me and he acted like it was unreasonable for me to ask about the car again. It had been almost 2 hours at that point, which he countered with "No I checked you in at 12:42." Okay-- so it was an hour and 40 minutes not the full 2. Then he said "You're asking me about the car every 30 minutes." I had only asked about it 1 other time which was an hour before. Idk what this guy's problem is but he's really rude and I told him as much. Adding on technicalities and context to say that he didn't mean "2 hours" but "AT LEAST 2 hours" and not to finish but to even start the work. I wasn't even making a big deal about it I was just checking in. There was literally no one else in the lobby besides me. I didn't snap back until he started raising his voice at which point I felt he was just being disrespectful. Idk what to say other than it was a really unpleasant experience and I wont be going back as long as he's there. I didn't get his name but my guess is he's the manager. Prices are fine. About the same as anywhere else. Save yourself the trouble and go to a nicer shop.
