Absolutely lovely staff ; great location plenty of parking. A truly great selection of appetizers and entrees to choose from Everything looked delicious and I was happy to enjoy their none in rib eye perfectly rare! Thanks for the wonderful evening!

Came to Jim Johnston's Steakhouse with my friends for our quarterly meet and eat. To our surprise, it just happen to be the Wednesday Night Rib Platter Combo for $17.95. What a great deal where you get a full rack of St. Louis style ribs, coleslaw, and fries. By the way, I'm not French fry guy, but these fries were great. Yum!! The staff is super fun and honest; and the service is great too. The ambiance is very old school with dark wood paneling and a great big bar with plenty of seating for everyone. Overall - we had another great time here and hope you give it a try too. Yum!

This place was just okay. A little pricy for the type of food which was about the quality of a good diner. I did really love their carrot cake. Service was excellent. Ambiance has a diner/bar kind of atmosphere.

Attended a nice birthday party here. It was a lot of fun, and the service was great. The drinks were very strong, those were some heavy pours on the open bar drinks, which was unusual. We didn't have steak (sadly) but we did have a variety of the usual buffet standards. Were they great? No. You don't go to a steak place for buffet Italian. The clientele seemed older, hyper white, and kind of lost in time. It's obvious this place hasn't been updated in years, but they did throw a good party.

If you want really great, "American" pub fare/steak, this is the place. Lots of pubs around and all seem to go "trendy" with lots of decent traditional food, but "ok" and then trendy food like "slaw tacos" and stuff like that. That's not this. Fantastic steaks, great ribs, charboriled burgers, chicken pot pie, fish and chips. All excellent, and...really reasonable. A Filet Mignon, good size, perfectly cut, half the price of a steak house and often better. Old style onion rings, etc. Food is outstanding. It's slightly "dated" in its decor, but who cares, I go to eat good food. Family run and friendly. Worth trying if you haven't. They've been there for 45 years. Have a good local following and the bar is a good 'ol school place to have a drink or two.

The kids rib fries meal for $10.95 seemed like a good idea for appetizer. The ribs are tender but have zero smoke flavor and the bbq sauce is 1/5. The chicken pot pie was excellent. Highly recommend. The bacon burger wasn't memorable at all. The chocolate cake was meh. I've had better from Shoprite. I think we will try again.

But after I gave it another shot later, I realized they take online orders. The estimated time here does seem to be off though, as I showed up about 5 minutes before the ETA and it was already sitting around being less hot. So maybe estimate picking up even earlier than that. When I came, the place was packed, but it was a game night. The kitchen/pick up area is way in the back, but I will say, their hot pretzel is fantastic. The flavor itself is good and crunchy, but with the cheese sauce, it was truly delectable. It was just pure thick cheddary liquid goodness. It also came with a mustard if you're that sort, but just the combo of pretzel and cheese makes for such a good and quick snack. They also have a trivia night promotion, so I'm interested in checking that out, but for bar food (even to go) is pretty solid.

First stopped at Six Points Pub on April 18th, close to 3 PM, with the intentions of grabbing a…read morequick bite with a friend after a long drive from VA. We walked in and sat at the near-empty bar and were soon greeted by the bartender (woman with long brown hair), who also provided us with menus. After a few minutes, she circled back, and we ordered two glasses of water. Just seconds after ordering the waters, we were asked for ID. Unfortunately, I left my ID in my jacket, which I didn't have with me at the time, so I explained this to the bartender. We were then told that we could not sit and eat without ID (which I have never heard of in any restaurant I've been to... EVER). I left without making a big deal of it since I was hungry from my drive. Stopped here again on Saturday, May 16th, around 9 PM to meet up with friends before leaving Bloomfield for the night. We were told we could sit where we liked and were quickly attended to by one of the servers upon entry. I ordered a water, and my friend ordered the Six Points Burger with fries. This time, we were not carded until we decided to order beer/drinks. Additionally, there was a child in there, no older than 12 years old, eating with a parent/caregiver on this evening- ultimately proving the whole 'you need an ID to eat here' thing false... What can I say about Six Points after these two experiences?... There's a lively crowd in the evening times, and food seems decent, and it's in a prime location on Bloomfield Ave... but it's quite evident that (at least) one of their bartenders is prejudiced and seems to have issues with people of color simply trying to sit and order food. *I called Six Points on May 18th and asked to speak with a manager regarding my experience. I left my number with one of the employees who answered, and he also told me I would receive a call back- sadly, that never happened. To clarify, the employee acknowledged that my experience on April 18 should not have occurred, as I should have been allowed to order food. Lesson learned: Just go to Egans or Just Jakes in Montclair instead of Six Points Pub.

Seating at the bar was a bit crowded. Jimmy the bartender was great in service but busy, but the seat I had was right behind the taps so I didn't have much space for the plate of food -- recommend getting a table next time or watch where you want to sit - plenty of space for a glass of beer, but not for a plate. The half plate of wings - a lot of garlic parm sauce on top, and while not the best wings (lacked any crisp), the sauce was nice and thick and heavy - albeit salty, but that's ok for wings. The sauce there actually did the fries good. Lots of TVs and street parking or muni lot parking (free after 6p weekdays).

What this bar pulled was completely unacceptable. They were openly reserving seats at the bar for certain people while telling everyone else they were unavailable. There was no advertised reservation policy, no advance notice, and no opportunity offered to regular customers. Apparently, the only way to get a seat is to know the owner, know the bartenders, or be part of the inner circle. What made it even worse was that my group had been sitting at the bar, ordering food and drinks starting around 7:30 PM, only to be forced out of our seats at 7:45 PM. The reservation signs on those seats clearly stated they were reserved for 8:15 PM. We were paying customers actively spending money, yet we were removed 30 minutes before the supposed reservation time. That is absolutely egregious behavior. I've worked in sports bars and have owned sports bars in New York City. In all my years in the business, I have never heard of reserving seats directly at the bar--especially during a major sporting event. It goes against everything that makes a sports bar successful. Bar seats have always been first-come, first-served. That's Sports Bar 101. I've spent plenty of money here over the years because it was always a great place to watch big games: good atmosphere, sound on the TVs, and a fun crowd. Unfortunately, last night proved that customer loyalty means absolutely nothing. Regular patrons were treated like second-class citizens while preferred customers received special treatment. For a bar that markets itself as a neighborhood sports destination, this was incredibly disappointing, unprofessional, and frankly insulting. If you're planning to watch a major game here, don't assume you'll be treated fairly. Unless you're friends with the right people, don't expect the same experience as everyone else. There are plenty of other sports bars in Brooklyn that understand how to treat customers. After last night, I'll be spending my money there instead. I won't be back, and I certainly won't be recommending this place to anyone. Let's Go Knicks

Our waitress was very friendly and ended up leaving a pitcher of water once she saw we were parched. The salad bar wasn't huge, but there were some cold dishes along with salad fixings, which is part of the vintage charm. The bread (not complementary) was also a huge round loaf great for sharing. The decor's medieval vibe is very charming and it's nice looking around the room. The kitchen is open to the dining room with big brick ovens. I had the prime rib which was big and juicy (the baked potato was fine but the Yorkshire puff was bland and barely editable soaked in juice - may just be I don't like this food). The steak came with a giant onion ring which was delightful, and it was cooked perfectly tender. This place thrives in your meat and potato staples, so not a lot of side options except what's at the salad bar. For dessert, we had to try the peach melba delight, which was a giant goblet of vanilla ice cream, peaches in juice, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. Deceptively simple but extremely tasty and great to share There's a large bar area and the bathrooms are nice. This place is great for larger groups that include older people. The food is good and the atmosphere did feel like it was from another time, but we had a good time, and it's nice to see a place like this still around.
