I sat in a parking lot across the street and placed an order on-line for the pulled pork baker and the classic pulled pork with collard greens and Mac and cheese. Delicious Biscuits - warm, moist & full of flavor. Pulled pork was fantastic and the brisket was well cooked. Collared Greens were some of the best I've ever had. The main downside for me was that the BBQ sauce tasted more like ketchup than BBQ, which ruined the star of the meal - all of the meat. Mac & Cheese was average. The jalapeño sausage was good. What the Yelp? Bae and O stopped to pick up ribs. First, they are OUT OF BABY BACKS?! We should have known to keep it moving. But, we purchase the 35.00 slab of rib. Big mistake. We get this meat home and 4 bones out of 12 were Charred black. I mean, Not suitable for consumption. Y'all already know, I called up there to speak with management. I, along with others, placed our orders a week or more in advance. We arrived on time, and later learned after sitting there for over an hour that the restaurant had run out of chicken. What is the purpose of placing the order early? What is the purpose of scheduling a time to pick up. When I say poor management of how to handle the day, today was the worse. I have never seen service like this since moving to Gardendale 18 years ago. I was extremely disappointed. There was poor planning this year. Ways to improve for next year: regardless of whether you order online or call in, these customers should be honored first. Request that early orders arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled time. At their scheduled time, call their name. If they are present and have paid, fix their food. They had an order for someone that had been sitting there since 10:30am and it was 3pm. They better not have chicken! Plan to close the drive thru 1.5 hours to closing. If you see your chicken inventory is low the day before, make a run to Walmart or Publix and buy chicken. Chicken is the one thing you should not run out off. You can stretch chicken better than any other meat. A breast can feed two people if needed. Please do better next year. Best barbecue I've ever had!! First the complimentary cheese muffin and sweet cream butter is addicting so be careful. They had lots to choose from and great mix and match options for a wonderful price. The smoke ring on the super juicy spare ribs was perfect. Tender and moist brisket that you can tell was cooking for hours. And the smoked turkey is a MUST! I've never had such a moist and flavorful slices of craved turkey breast. The collards were perfectly seasoned and the Mac and cheese are a dairy lovers dream. Don't skip over this place. WET, like it was an old piece of boiled meat, fatty, with no 'smoke' or bark/outside meat. Sauce is watery, with no particular flavor. Server brought a cup of whipped butter spread & plates as soon as we were seated, but no biscuits until after entrees were delivered. my mother-in-law placed an order for Mother's Day 3 days in advance. There was no record of the order when it was time to pick it up. No effort to make it right just place an order and wait until 2.5 - 3 hrs past time planned of family dinner. So that was the last time my family will attempt to do business. I'm not a huge influencer l, but I am an E-9 in the Air Force. I will share the story of when the Gardendale Jim and Nicks dropped the ball. Amazing! Another business trip and another amazing local restaurant. Came here based on a Google search and the recommendation of the front desk clerk at my hotel. My waitress (Amy) was great, although I got the impression she was waiting on a bunch of tables by herself. The place is nice, clean, and well-lit. I got the two meat platter (chicken and brisket) with mac n cheese (one of the best I've ever had) and the bbq corn. Not gonna lie, the corn was out of this world. Genuine Bar-B-Q... My wife ordered the smoked chicken bbq salad with bbq ranch dressing and peach lemonade. I ordered the Classic bbq pulled pork, and the Not-So-Naked baked potato. The pulled pork was so tender and juicy... and the flavor beyond belief. The baked potato was so good, I wished I had 2 of them. From the first bite of her salad, my wife's eyes grew in astonishment as she couldn't believe that smoked bbq chicken could ever taste so good. Before we started our trip back north, we had to stop at Jim and Nick's again for another meal. It was spectacular as well. I did not get a receipt but I do have the order sheet that has the server name, the check number and the items ordered. Overall my family had dinner there Saturday and it was fabulous. As for now there will not be a complete dinner for me tonight. Whomever the kitchen manager is, should not had put that meat out the drive thur window. Placed Jim N Nicks in my Yelp app and received directions to the restaurant. Walked in the door took a few minutes to attract the attention of the servers but not too long. Seated in a booth within the bar area with ample televisions to watch any sports I wanted to see. Perused the menu and chose Carolina Styles BBQ pork with coke slaw and Mac n cheese. Prior to my entrées arrival my server brought me two piping hot corn muffins (a signature) side for Jim N Nick's. They were delicious. My bbq pork came shredded and was flavored with a vinegar type sauce and it was ok but just not my cup o tea! I didn't count the Carolina style sauce into account for this review because it was my first time trying that and it was not the restaurant's fault for my taste buds. read more

I ordered online, not a big order, less than $20.00. NO WHERE is it listed that you have to come inside to pick up online orders. So, you wait in line to have the rudest person ever (and she's old enough to know better) to tell me to come inside. Then go inside to have a rude but not as rude person tell me the orders are lined up against the wall and that's after waiting in another line. A couple of signs are very inexpensive and would have gotten a better rating. it was unnecessary to have this much hassle and it was not rush time either. read more

First off, Jim n' Nick's is one of my go to restaurants. I have done several reviews, which have all been good. I have been a few times since the coronavirus pandemic. But, my last drive thru visit was awful. I was overcharged and treated rudely when I questioned it. My drink order was wrong. My sauces were omitted. I caught those errors before leaving and they were rectified. Unfortunately, I didn't notice my banana pudding had been left out until I was almost home. I called the restaurant when I noticed the omission and was not given an apology or anything. I spoke to a woman when I called. I was just basically told I cold come back and pick it up, which I did. It was very inconvenient to go back, but I really want the banana pudding that I ordered and paid for. Lastly, when I started eating and opened up what was supposed to be barbecue ranch, it was something else. Tarter sauce maybe but definitely not barbecue ranch. It was a very disappointing experience. Hopefully, this was an isolated event. To be fair, when I went back to pick up the banana pudding, the guy who helped me was nice and apologized. We were traveling through from NOLA to Ky. We had very little sleep and we're getting hangry. Deciding what to eat while on the road can be a challenge. I saw a sign for BBQ and I was sold. It turned out to be a good choice. I paid no attention to any attitude that may (or may not) have been coming from the hostess. My goal was to get a table and food. Our server was a sweet, soft spoken co-ed who knew the menu and helped us make good choices. First, the brewed iced tea was good. We ordered the pork plate between the two of us because we didn't want leftovers. The pork was tasty. I had asked for a side of the white sauce which was not like any other sauce I had ever had. It was a mayonnaise based sauce, that was spicy, peppery and had a hint of pickle juice. I ate my pork with it. So tasty. The mac-n-cheese was better than I had expected. It was worth ordering. The fries were real potatoes. And then there was this sweet, cheesy, mini, muffin roll thing. I wanted to shove like 5 in my mouth and eat them chipmunk style.
