What the Yelp? Bae and O stopped to pick up ribs. First, they are OUT OF BABY BACKS?! We should have known to keep it moving. But, we purchase the 35.00 slab of rib. Big mistake. We get this meat home and 4 bones out of 12 were Charred black. I mean, Not suitable for consumption. Y'all already know, I called up there to speak with management. He was apologetic and promised to send a gift card to cover the ribs. I appreciate it, BUT what about tonight?! We can't hardly eat this old meat. Jim N Nick's ought to be a shame of them self. In the sentiments of Jhene Aiko, y'all are, "The Worst ". Please Get back to the way you were! TY

Delicious Biscuits - warm, moist & full of flavor. Pulled pork was fantastic and the brisket was well cooked. Collared Greens were some of the best I've ever had. The main downside for me was that the BBQ sauce tasted more like ketchup than BBQ, which ruined the star of the meal - all of the meat. Mac & Cheese was average. The jalapeño sausage was good. Clean establishment, decent service, seemed understaffed, but it was clear the employees worked hard.

Best barbecue I've ever had!! First the complimentary cheese muffin and sweet cream butter is addicting so be careful. They had lots to choose from and great mix and match options for a wonderful price. The smoke ring on the super juicy spare ribs was perfect. Tender and moist brisket that you can tell was cooking for hours. And the smoked turkey is a MUST! I've never had such a moist and flavorful slices of craved turkey breast. The collards were perfectly seasoned and the Mac and cheese are a dairy lovers dream. Don't skip over this place. The safe were so friendly and working diligently to keep up even being short staffed.. I'm sad I won't be able to have it unless I drive 13 hours.

My family and I came here 6 months ago and it was so good we came back tonight. Sadly we was very disappointed the service was good, food was cold Ribs was burnt but falling off the bone. Our ribs was very disappointing, bake beans and greens was warm. It was a completely different experience. I'm convinced that restaurants in Gardendale and Fultondale just sucks. We want be coming back. I like my ribs to have a bite to them. I don't understand how ribs are falling off the bone and dry at the same time. The fries was old looking and cold. The only good thing was the server.

Very good food friendly service clean facilities! Not overpriced for the amount of food you get .

Amazing! Another business trip and another amazing local restaurant. Came here based on a Google search and the recommendation of the front desk clerk at my hotel. My waitress (Amy) was great, although I got the impression she was waiting on a bunch of tables by herself. The place is nice, clean, and well-lit. I got the two meat platter (chicken and brisket) with mac n cheese (one of the best I've ever had) and the bbq corn. Not gonna lie, the corn was out of this world. I would have preferred chicken-in-the-bone because that's what I usually get but it was moist and flavorful. The white bbq sauce went great with it. The brisket was also on point.

Biscuits come out with the meal and are rarely fresh. This is their worse location. Go to Bham or Cullman for a better experience.

Service at the bar was good considering every seat at the bar was taken. We ordered our food and it was out within 15-20 minutes. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken, but subbed the sides for the whole fried okra and Gouda grits. When I say those grits and okra hit.....somebody in that kitchen knows what they're doing! The chicken breasts were juicy and flavorful. The spice level was typical for Nashville hot chicken, which I sometimes I can't take. But I loved the flavor so much I couldn't stop eating it. I will eat here again when I return to the city!

It had a good energy right away. I had been looking at a few things on the menu and was really going back and forth. I was interested in the hot chicken, the Brussels sprouts, and also the ribeye Philly cheesesteak. They told me both were really good, and I ended up going with the ribeye Philly cheesesteak. Great choice. I also got a side salad with the chipotle ranch dressing and that was very good too. Picture below. For dessert, I was planning on getting the key lime pie, because that is usually my move, but Hayden my server talked me into trying the blueberry cobbler cheesecake instead. I am glad he did. It was very good. Picture below. Between the crowded room, the good service, and the food, this was a very strong experience all the way around. I am giving The Southern Kitchen & Bar 5 stars.

It's kind of hard to tell what all the food options are, so I had to ask what some stuff was. I managed to get a meat and 2 instead of a meat and 5! There were quite a few veggie options that looked amazingly delicious! I do not recommend coming here hungry or hangry. Ok, sooo I love meat loaf so naturally that's what I got. I also got collards and cornbread dressing & yes they had cranberry sauce. Everything was good tasting. The meatloaf was a little sweet to my taste so I probably wouldn't order it again. The veggies were not over seasoned or overcooked. I will definitely comeback here bc there is still just so much I wanna try. The staff is nice and took care of the crowd. I even witnessed them give a person in need food, as they were about to dig in the restaurant's garbage can outside for scraps. Made me count my blessings.. all of them! There is street parking only. I didn't have any issues parking on a Sunday afternoon. The inside of this restaurant is not big but I was comfortable dining in.

Only about 3 people at a time can hold inside before it's starts getting crowded. It stay pretty busy. Options are 1 meat with two sides or 2 meats with three sides combination. A la cart is available as well. They have ice tea or lemonade drinks in a cup that they also serve you. Lemonade was good. There's a very small counter to pay after you order. Fry chicken is tasty with perfect crisp. Collard greens were seasoned well and perfect texture. Yams (my favorite) was perfect - flavorful, not too sweet and firm but not hard. Both of us thought the Black eyed peas looked really good but taste bland. I would have preferred it without the Okra. I didn't see that when I ordered. One in our group commented the meat loaf was good. The dressing was really good too - well seasoned and tasty. After paying there's a dining area for self seating. It serves the purpose to sit and eat but definitely could use sprucing up along with the restrooms. Please seriously consider! It would make the experience much more pleasant to enjoy their delicious food. I took off two stars for that reason and yes it's that unpleasant as the tables/chairs are also too clustered together. The chairs don't fit around the table properly. Overall good southern food at a reasonable price and recommended. Skip dining in if you don't have too. Just my two cents.

The baked beans are very flavorful and delicious too. I usually order the bone-in ribs, but you never know what you're gonna get. Sometimes they're meatier and juicier; other times they're cooked more, with a burnt-like skin. I personally like a little fat on mine, and those portions often lack that. But then come the onion rings. Oh my. I tried them today, and they were wonderful. Some Yelpers complained you don't get many. Well, I had to bag some up because I couldn't finish them alongside my other sides. These are not rings -- these are onion wreaths. Huge slices, made in-house, with a breading so good it should be illegal. I will definitely order them again, and I recommend others risk the carb coma. In fact, I bagged up most of my other sides too. It was a lot of food for one sitting. I felt like a bear preparing for hibernation. My husband commented that Memphis is known for barbecue, but Alabama has some great places too. Full Moon Barbeque is a prime example. Oh, and if you want to sample something on the menu, they're happy to oblige. I wasn't sure about an item, so they let me try it - much better than ordering a full portion and being disappointed. Honestly, I don't think you'll be dissatisfied with anything on the menu. The service here is excellent. Everyone is very friendly, helpful, and mannerly. They genuinely want to make sure you enjoy your food. They check on you without hovering, and they seem to actually care about your experience, not just turning tables. It's the kind of service that makes you want to come back. One more thing: if you want authentic Southern sweet tea, order it here. It's mouthwatering -- literally. The kind of sweet tea that makes your eyes close for a second after the first sip. Add a lemon slice, and you'll want more even after you've quenched your thirst.
