Pretty tops as far as supermarkets go. Lots of vegan vegetarian and organic options. There bakery case is also pretty full of vegan options. Prices for the kind of products I buy are comparable to most other supermarkets. I wish they had one closer to where I live in east county. read more

I work right around the corner from Jimbos and as a result go to Jimbos multiple times a week to pick up a lunch or grab dinner on the way home. I always go for the hot case and its honestly a hit or miss. I find that they generally put everything out fresh around 11 am and after that, they replace food as its sold throughout the day. In the hot case, I generally go for the Salmon if they have it, and of the countless times I've gotten it, it has only been dry one or two times which i find impressive for Salmon that is sitting in a hot case. With it, I generally go for the brussels sprouts and they are always amazing. Anything else in the hot case is really hit or miss. The lasagna is a good standard, but I've had bad oven fries, and mac and cheese which always look a lot better than they taste. As for the actual grocery stuff, they are pretty standard in price for the type of stuff they have and the produce is top notch. I can always count on fresh apples and watermelon when I'm craving it. They have super healthy tasty options and I've found that many of the packaged foods they have have manufacturer coupons in the packaging which definitely helps when you want to repurchase a treat that is pricier than the less-healthy options. The rating I gave is because if I didn't work around the corner, I wouldn't choose to go to Jimbo's over sprouts or whole foods. Their prices are too high for standard quality food and mediocre customer service. All the people I've interacted with have been pleasant and accommodating, but if I want hot case food or a sandwich from their sandwich bar, I always plan to be waiting 5-10 minutes for service. There have been times when an employee has been helping another customer for 10 min and not acknowledge my presence or the other people's presence, and I feel like the wait would be less frustrating if the employee acknowledged that they saw you and would be with me shortly. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE. I can't say enough good things. Try their meat department. My favorite part about their meat counter is it's right by their micro brew beer! Best fresh vegetables and fruits in 4S Ranch. The only other place it compares to in RB area is Baron's but Jimbo's is an actual full service grocer (with a meat counter). I know I am making a big deal out of the meat counter but it's awesome. My favorite is the Flank Steak Pinwheels- they come loaded with feta cheese and olives or bacon and spinach. read more

This is a great store. The manager, the checkout clerks. I will say that a new female butcher was extremely rude. I asked her to butterfly and chicken and you would have thought I asked her to kill, and pluck it. She complained that I'd have to wait awhile and took her sweet time (almost putatively) even though there were no other customers waiting. Very disappointing, where are the regular butchers, usually very good people back there. read more

I love hitting the deli counter for great hot lunches and snacks. Everything is marked for Gluten-Free and Vegan, so it's easy to shop without asking a million questions. All the food and salad bar items are fresh and delicious. Groceries are all very high quality, likely organic, and therefore the prices reflect. Not the best place to stretch your dollar, but you can be assured you are eating very well if you buy here! read more

This is the spot to get a quick, delicious lunch for vegans around the 4s area. I am probably here 2-3 times a week during lunch and it is great every time. The sandwich bar is an incredible value as a 6 dollar sandwich is huge and stuffed full of delicious ingredients. The hot deli always has vegan selections and about half the week the daily special is entirely vegan. Some of my current favorites are the jackfruit enchiladas and the blackbean polenta. If you are in a rush there are some grab and go options that are either cold items or can be nuked. Plenty of the cold items make a great side for a sandwich! When you have forgotten to get lunch, and it's 5:30 pm, it's great to remember Jimbo's has a really great vegan sandwich. The one that I chose is Lonestar. It is a big, hickory-flavored treat. I stopped in for this treat in the Rancho Bernardo Store. They were quick, professional, and courteous. I could only finish half of that sandwich. But finished it when I got home, when there was more room in my belly. I recommend Jimbo's for lunch or dinner. There are many choices in their menu. read more

Best store ever! Love all the vegan and gluten free options! I only wish there was one where I lived. The employees are super friendly and nice. We ordered vegan sandwiches and the girl who helped us was super knowledgeable and even helped me turn my sandwich Very Veggie Stuffed into gluten free friendly by making it a wrap. HANDS DOWN BEST WRAP EVER! The veggies were incredibly fresh!! My boyfriend ordered The Veggie Burger and she let us know the bun had honey so he got it on sourdough. His patty tasted really good. While my first stop to Jimbo's wasn't a bad experience, there was nothing about it that made me want to go out of my way to rush back here anytime soon. I was in the area so I decided to stop by for some specific items in the produce section. Comparing it to Henry's / Sprouts, I felt that Jimbo's was a little too unorganized for my liking and did not offer the quantity of produce I was looking for. I was specifically looking for jalapenos and serrano chiles and when I finally located them (with the help of another customer) I was disappointed in the size and quality of the product. I guess I am just used to a size were I can make poppers, however with these, I felt I could only make the pop because they were so small. As I mentioned earlier, I found my items through the help of another customer. It wasn't as though I didn't try to find someone who actually worked at the store to help me but the staff seemed be be nonexistent. At the check out, there was no small talk, no asking if I found everything alright. It was curt at best and the feeling of there's the door and get your butt out. On the plus side, the store was clean and parking was plentiful. I really don't think the second should a selling point but I'm stretching here. As far as the pricing goes, I really didn't notice a major difference between this and major grocery stores. I admit, I really don't look too much at pricing but rather grab what I need and go. If I'm in the area, I'd give Jimbo's another try, solely based on the other reviews and I'd like to try out their deli in the future. read more

The store is in the same vein spas other health food stores like Sprouts + Whole Foods, but provide health food almost to the complete exclusion of all the rest. I'm not complaining, mind you; it's nice to come to a place knowing you'll find all the strange ingredients you want. THE DELI Jimbo's deli is truly the thing I come to this store for 9 times out of 10. My absolute favorite thing on the menu is the Cali Wrap with Daiya cheddar. -- Totally vegan + 110% delicious, the Cali Wrap consists of romaine lettuce, red onion, tomato, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, hummus, + cheese all wrapped up in lavash bread. Seriously, it's amazing + you need to go try one! THE VERDICT Great selection. Pricey, but expected for quality of goods. Delicatessen has some amazing vegan + vegetarian options that I frequent for lunch during the week. I am surprised that regular six-pack Joes with no pretensions to gourmet food are reviewing Jimbo's so often. That can't be too bad, as they assert that the food is good. But Jimbo's is not what hippie food stores used to be, what with rotting produce and weird smells. Whole Foods changed all that. Besides the point of organic is not only about effects of pesticides on human body (you should eat organic for the dirty dozen, but no need to eat organic bananas) but because of the impact of industrial farming on the ecology. Take it from me as someone who has a college degree in Environmental Science and could have worked at the EPA. So stop bashing organic stores. It's a choice: you live with yours but no need to berate others unless you actually understand the whole issue. I don't know why folks are complaining about the prices, as their prices are on par and sometimes lower than the almost adjoining Ralph's. I don't know why people don't realize that apples from Jimbo's taste like apples and not like cardboard, which they do in Albertson's, Ralph's and Von's. Paying 20 cents more per Apple is worth it for the taste. Ever eat a REAL apple? I will put some comments about taste. We eat a fair bit of lamb, and the lamb from Jimbo's is far superior to Lido or other brands -- there is no comparison. The meat section manager gave me his number, so when I need a lot of lamb cubed for kabobs, he makes it happen. Free of charge. Same for a rack of lamb, made into frenched chops, free of charge and with a smile. Ever had that happen to you at Albie or Ralphie or Vonzie? An anecdote: the witch at Ralph's told me it was too "dangerous" for her to cut the HUGE steak in two 10 oz steaks. *Clears throat* I wonder how she got the job of a butcher with that attitude and understanding. Wow, I say. Wow. Fish, ah we are a coastal town. Go ahead and try the Salmon, Halibut and Sea Bass from Jimbo's. If you know how to cook, they taste outstanding -- not like the decomposing, frozen-unfrozen-frozen, smelly filets available elsewhere. As a matter of fact their fresh fish tastes better than what you find in 4-star, Zagat-reviewed restaurants in Del Mar or elsewhere. Potatoes cost less here than in other supermarkets, even though they're organic here. I can go on, but the point is that people need to give it a chance and not bash it just because Jimbo's is what it is. You know that going in. Finally, customer service is outstanding all around. Folks who work here, love working here. More than I can say of most places. Yep, go to Jimbo's for taste. Its hard for me to give this place a good review cause I have a different experience everytime I come here... and it's always bad every other time. While they offer really great products and some of the staff are really nice and helpful, I've had some terrible customer service at the sandwich counter, which is usually the main purpose of my visit. You'd think when you phone in an order at 4:30pm to pick up at 5pm, your sandwich would be ready before your buddy's who walks in with you and didn't order ahead. Buddy gets his sandwich at 5:20, and I asked if my order was ready, girl at the counter responds with "It can be, in a few mins". Ummm...? No apology. There was another time when I was trying to order and the dude behind the counter was just walking around moving stuff around and kinda ignoring me when I'm the only one there, so I went up to another lady at a different counter and asked if they were still making sandwiches, and she politely said yes and told me that the dude that was ignoring me was the one making sandwiches, and so I approached him once again and he just said "no hot sandwiches" and nothing else and kept doing whatever he was doing. No attempt at customer service whatsoever. There's such a big contrast to my visits cause of the polar opposite experience between employees that are really pleasant and those that are obviously just skating by. Bottom line: Good products and food, but customer service at the sandwich counter is a crapshoot and I have to think about whether or not its worth it to go back every time. read more

Jimbo's is my favorite groceries store. I know their food is pricey, but every time I try some organic produce from the store I just keep coming back for more. I especially LOVE Jimbo's vegetable sandwiches & desserts, as well as their refreshing juices! Their desserts are SO good. I was amazed half of their desserts are vegan... and ALL ORGANIC too. Their staff is very friendly and welcoming also. Sandwiches: Go ultimate health-conscious with their Very Veggie Stuffed is stuffed with yummy veggies & hearty avocado that fills you up. Veggie Burger is also very good, and is vegan. Even my omnivore friend liked it. They're only $4.95! And 100% organic. :) Love the healthy concept. For desserts: GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE all the way!!!! Some of their cookies are a little dry, though. Try choosing more moist-looking items. Juices: Emerald Bliss - whenever I feel a little down or if I feel like I'm getting a cold, this drink always fixes me up. I get better WITHIN 24 hours, thanks to all of its organic natural vitamins and germ-fighting nutrients. It's a bit pricey ($5.95), but for the amount of organic veggies you are getting, it's very reasonable. This way you can drink pounds of vegetable!! Tastes good too. This pertains only to the deli: GREAT sandwich.... but POOR service. So I strolled into Jimbos and hit the deli, where I waited a while without anyone even acknowledging me. There no real place to order, its like do I stand here, or do I go over by the counter opening, just very confusin,g. I tried making a few eye contacts, there was about 3 people working in the deli, and realizing they were busy, I was patient... but I never even got eye contact, like I seeee yooou or a "Hey, be with you shortly" or "Can I help you?" If there's one sure turn off, its poor service. I was wiling to wait, I just wanted someone to acknowledge the fact that I had been waiting and they would eventually help me. After speaking up and asking where I can place my order, a woman finally rudely asked what I needed. I ordered the grilled sourdough with lemon chicken minus the provolone and mayo, add onions $6.95, via recommendation by the SubPrime. The verdict, it was delicious, the chicken very tender, and juicy, with fresh veggies. Bread was great, but small in size. MONSTROUS Tuna Salad Supreme sandwich. I loved the crushed walnuts in the tuna salad. I also got a HUGE MOUND of sprouts. The sandwich was extremely fresh, as indicated by the beautiful crunch of the lettuce as I bit down, barely fitting the sandwich in my mouth... Everything else on the menu also looked quite interesting. I think the Lone Star is my next conquest, based on some of the reviews I've seen here. The organic vanilla bean coffee was also quite good. This is definitely a great lunch spot. It also isn't that expensive, considering a place like Whole Foods or Bristol Farms would charge at least a dollar or two more for a sandwich of this caliber. Jimbo's Naturally is the best place to get anything organic. Unlike Traders Joe's and Sprouts (which I still frequent), Jimbo's Naturally does not carry anything NOT organic - so you don't have to worry about checking labels to see if it's organic or not...it is! I come here almost every day for either lunch or juice and could not go without. The sandwiches are AMAZING, but be sure to place your order first thing before you go roaming around the store because sometimes there is a wait. However, it's a wait well worth it for both quality and quantity! The Lone Star sandwich put in a gluten free wrap is my favorite. I also am a huge fan of the Turkey Garden Wrap. I've never tried to Soy Delicious sandwich because one of the deli counter workers told me it smelled like stinky feet. F.Y.I. As far as juices, be sure to know what you're ordering. Most of these juices (especially the more intense veggie juices) come with a need for an acquired taste. If you aren't sure, feel free to substitute any "questionable" items (i.e. the onions in the Flu Buster). You can't go wrong with any of the fruit smoothies or shakes - obviously! Oh yeah, and I'm beyond obsessed with the bakery items. GF vegan muffins that taste delicious??? Sign me up. I've dedicated Friday morning for my one day a week to indulge in one of these tasty treats (favorite: coconut carrot muffin). The cookies are also really really good - especially any of them with carob chips! Quick Tip: Check the little refrigerated section between the deli sides and the meat for reduced items - these are things that were from the day before and are totally fine to eat. I'm in awe that a market could have so many beautiful products under one roof. Most amazing was the produce section. It looks as though every single piece of fruit was handpicked out by a goddess and placed on the display trays. The trays are not overflowing with fruits, there are very select amounts of fruit, and each piece is perfection. The taste of each is as if you just received a basket of fruit from Harry & David, but at 1/2 the price. It is truly worth every penny you spend here. After shopping here once, I am never shopping anywhere else for my organic produce. I love that the entire store is 98% organic and vegan, and there are only very few items that are not organic, mostly in the dairy section like cream cheese and fine cheeses, however they do have organic choices as well. Proclaiming, "I am the whole store's manager", voraciously states Marc Magana of JIMBO's 4S Ranch 6/28/2014. He assured me that my $30.00 wouldn't cover the price of the cake I ordered and came to pick up, which he says is now $40.00!!! He had no problem leering at me after he grinned a gorilla grill (showing teeth is a showing of aggression to the gorilla) trying to grind me for another $10.00 ! Is it because he doesn't like caucasian women, or just women in general? Hmm, I don't think that individual recognizes what part of town he's in, perhaps he is better suited for a downtown location where community relations are more numerical and less personal, as I will never order another cake from Jimbo's 4S Ranch unless this is resolved to my satisfaction, like where's my $30 cake??? I graciously informed the glaring, angry face of M. Magana that he could keep it. So, instead of accepting my $30.00, the price I had paid for the previous cake, this greedy individual with the social graces of an inmate; will most likely take it home or throw it into the trash or give it to someone in the store .... and Jimbo's will have to deal with that loss financially ... (Dumb and dumber). I would re-think/re-train your managerial hires, Jimbo or at least teach M. Magana to add. read more

The hot food/sandwich bar: The food is a little bland. I had mahi once and a vegan lasagna/casserole thing once, and neither was that good. The grocery store: I like that you can buy things by the lb. It's nice to get exactly how much you need for a couple recipes so you don't have small leftovers. The 5 stars are for Jimbo's awesome selection of Gluten Free goods not only on their shelves, but their awesome selection of Gluten Free goodies in their bakery. For people that are gluten free, Jimbos here in 4S Ranch is the market to frequent. They understand the gluten free diet. The selection of fresh baked muffins are supurb! Try their gluten free pumpkin-zuchinni nut or the delicious gluten free blueberry muffins. What really is a surprise is that they offer fresh gluten free cheesecakes! YES...you celiacs can once again enjoy a cheesecake! This place puts all the other health food stores to shame. Jimbo's selection in their store is first rate and much better than the competition. Their produce seems to be fresher than the Henry's down the way in Poway and prices seem to be about the same. Having just moved to 4S Ranch, Jimbo's is a welcome surprise and I have been a frequent visitor since moving here. read more

Jimbos can be quite costly, but it's what you expect to pay for healthy, organic, or gluten-free food items these days. Some items I couldn't justify the prices for, but other items were within reason and/or on sale. Went here yesterday and bought organic bananas, tofu noodles (which i love because they taste like pasta and are low calorie and soy), miso mayo (which tastes great on veggies or on sandwiches), couscous (on sale!), sweet potatoes, and a few other goodies. The hubby and I like to eat at the deli on occasions, and I really like their turkey pastrami sandwich. Also, their cookies are scrumptious. I had a large sized gluten-free chocolate chip cookie that I devoured. Soups are also delicious, and they change them up frequently. I liked them all that I've tried: chicken noodle soup, curry vegetable lentil, and turkey chili. Eating here makes you feel a little better about yourself, especially considering the 20 something years I've polluted myself with delicious fried and greasy foods :) read more

Great veggie burgers for $5 from the deli and the thing is huge .They always have a 'reduced' section and you can find some good deals there. A lot of the regular stuff is overpriced for me. The soups are excellent and all of the burritos, but the prices keep going up. a small ass soup is now almost $3 (used to be $1.49) and the bean and cheese burritos are now $3.. but both are worth it. read more

Jimbo's market at the 4S Ranch is the best place to get lunch in that whole area. Their sandwiches with gluten free bread are toasted and so good. I have never seen so many gluten-free options anywhere, and I always get a cookie or a cake to go with my sandwich. I have been exploring all sorts of new beverages and vitamins. The aloe vera drink is something that i never thought I would like, but now absolutely love. I am also taking some ginseng with my multi-vitamin, stock up on some great tea. read more
