Lots of options for a place you wouldn't expect this much to choose from. You can tell owner and long-time manager Alane really cares about this place being successful. Alane is the daughter of Howard Solomon, the creator of the neighboring castle. Many of Howard's family work at the restaurant. The food is good. And the setting is excellent. Inside seating is a large ship built by Howard. There is additional inside seating below the lighthouse that has an artistic tree in the middle. Alane decorates the tree depending on the season. Salads are large with a number of ingredients. The Reuben is tasty and comes with your choice of one side. Crackers brought with the meal are Ritz. Did I say the service is good. Make sure you walk around the restaurant area as there are many decorations, including the risque 'netted' mermaid in the ship.

I had the BBQ Pork sandwich. Very good. It wasn't very busy the day we went, but we were speaking with the owner (daughter) and it gets pretty busy at times. They have a large patio area, with live music on nights. Check the schedule.

Very nice, tall blonde. She was very honest. She told us the steaks aren't local. She then told us about the fries that are hand cut everyday aren't crisp. They're more flimsy. She also let us know they make 3 homemade salad dressings. We ordered the fried pickles first. They came out small cut, with ranch dressing and seasoned well. I actually liked them. We then ordered our meal. We picked our steak of the rib eye 18 oz. We ordered it medium rare. Steak also came with 2 sides or you can get up charged for other items. I got fries and the mashed potatoes. My wife got her 2 sides as she was also charged 6 dollars for 2 sides and a salad. She got the baked potato and cabbage. The steak came out perfect. Good char on it. Medium rare was good. I liked it a lot. Not tough. The fries like she said came out limp. They weren't bad. Mashed potatoes were good. Nothing to write home about. My wife said the bake potato was good. And the cabbage was ok. The waitress was attentive and made sure our drinks were full when needed. Overall, I'd say the food was a 4.4 with the salad being a small plate with normal stuff. The fries were also missing that crunch factor. The mashed potatoes were ok. The steak is what saved it and the pickles.

The gator itself tasted rather plain and uninteresting. The burgers are substantial, cooked and seasoned well, and the toppings are fresh. It's a little quirky to offer both crinkle cut and hand cut fries, but I can vouch for the hand cut fries being good. The sweet tea is real here, and I took a cup to go. Service was kind and genuine. The dining area was comfortable enough and full of local flair. I decided to deduct one star due to the lack of unique flavor from the food. Everything tasted fresh and good, but nothing special.

Within 15 minutes. I was pulling into the Okeechobee livestock market restaurant. My head started spinning because I was the only car in the parking lot! They were just trucks and trailers and cattlemen. After reading Dave O's review, I dared myself to go in and had a blast watching the auction while my burger was being cooked. It was hard to eat the burger while hearing the hoofs of cows underneath and remembering the mooing when I pulled up. The burger was good and the service was great. The experience was off the charts. Next time I have to have one of those huge sweet teas everyone was drinking.

The food area is a lot smaller, but it's very clean and definitely do not smell the auction area right out the doors. The burgers are super thick and come with everything I couldn't finish mine. You have several things you can have as the side including fries, tater tots, sweet potato fries. Tea is great too! I will warn you what I do not see on other people's posts is it is CASH ONLY. My husband and I were in the car scrambling to see if we had enough before we came in. I had forgotten all about it. Both with a cheeseburger and the one side with waters was $27 and change. So make sure you bring cash. Other than that it's really good but not worth giving a lower rating.
