    Spicy East Coast Italian
    Les R.

I ate at this location twice for lunch. Convenient, relatively fast, and efficient. Was busy both times I was there with a line to the door. Orders were accurate and sandwiches fresh. I forgot how much I enjoyed Jimmy John's and it was the perfect option while attending a conference at the convention center. I got the same thing both days as it was quick and easy! I went with the #7 SPICY EAST COAST ITALIAN. It has double Genoa Salami, double Capicola, and double cheese with hot peppers, onions, lettuce, tomato, & mayo. I got my sandwiches as an "Unwich", which is the low carb option. Same sandwich and price but in a lettuce wrap. But all seating was open both days I was there as the left side had bikes and supply boxes in the dining area so all seating was to the right of the registers in the larger section. The bathrooms were clean but required a code that you had to ask for and was for customers only. I know the business has a right to limit restroom access, and they may have reasons, but I don't like the overall feel and vibe if it. Not a good look for a business in my personal opinion. This JJ location is in the David L. Lawrence Convention Center with the entrance at 1027 Penn Ave it is a perfect location for not only the conference center attendees but as a great faster food sandwich option in the city.

#11 Country Club and a Pickle

Jimmy John's has the best bread for a quick sub. That's all there is to it. Are there better sandwich shops? Sure there are but nothing a quick and convenient with what I'll call above Subway quality subs. In fact, for a franchised sub shop, this is probably my favorite. It's all about that bread which you can get a day old loaf of for .50 (fiddy) cent! I don't know what it is about it but I love it! Now I normally grab an Italian Night Club but tonight I decided to try a Country Club. You know I added the hot peppers by request too. This was a solid choice and I'd get it again but it is not replacing that #9 as my favorite. One thing I really missed was the Italian dressing. That would have been a nice addition. And don't forget the pickle! It's totally worth it if you are a dill pickle fan. The location is nice on Grant St. and easy to get to from most places downtown. As for service, I can't say much because they were so freaking fast! No joke there guys! It took me longer to debate what to get rather than them making it and me being out the door. I don't even think the crosswalk light changed! I guess they are living up to the name. You won't go wrong stoping in here!

The sandwiches are ok here. I've had better. They put way too much lettuce on the subs, even when you ask for less. Maybe the key is no lettuce? The bread is good though and I do love the pickles.

Why do you scoop all the good white bread out of my roll and throw it away? Please don't say it's so you can fit the measly 2 slices of roast beef. I think I'll stick with potbelly from now on.

We walked about 10 min and change from our hotel to the strip district location. It is a small little place made up for by its attention grabbing wall art of famous and loved Pittsburgh figures. The menu is easy enough. Pick a protein (there are many options) to go on the sandwich which is the standard cole slaw, cheese, tomato, and fries tucked between two slices of thick, soft white bread. As a vegetarian, I was pleased to see a vegetarian option with both a cheese and an egg and cheese version. GF and I shared and it is not a bad sandwich to share bc the thing is massive. That isn't to say that I couldn't have eaten another half bc I absolutely could have. The thing is so large and busting with ingredients I wondered how I could fit it for a bite but where there's a will, there's a way. It was excellent. What a great combo of flavors and textures. I only wish there was more cheese. I do feel like with the cheese version there should be more than what is in the version with meat but call me crazy. I could eat that every day.

The service was solid, the atmosphere feels authentic Pittsburgh with murals of local athletes and celebrities covering the walls, and the food still brought great flavor. They said it was just "sitting down there" and got lost in the shuffle. I thought it was pretty pricey for the portions. We got the bread as an appetizer which was pretty good but again, not elite. Now, I am going to take you on a journey just like the books Belle read so strap in. We had a 5:45 PM reservation, and even arrived a few minutes early. The hostess/employee (I don't want to assume positions) took me upstairs for a table right by the window, which will be an awesome view when the construction finishes. It was also a beautiful sight of that part of the city as-is. When I was seated, I was one of a few tables seated. It was not full or even busy at that time. Also, as we were seated, we were given waters. My friend joined me about 5-7 minutes after the reservation time. We then ordered our drinks at about 6:00/6:05 PM. From there, we waited and did not meet our waiter, who will be referred to as sweet baby angel Max from here on out, until about 6:20 PM. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees at around this time. Our orders had some modifications but nothing major. By this time, many more tables were seated upstairs and others seemingly received their alcoholic drinks and even appetizers by the time we received only our drinks around 6:30-6:40. Our drinks were big, too, which is great, but that also meant we had to drink them a little more quickly due to the time constraints with the show. We were enjoying ourselves but noticed multiple more tables receiving not only their drinks and apps but also their entrees. Once 6:55 came, we had to tell sweet baby angel Max about our predicament. I will be honest and say we suggested for our drinks to be comped at least - not only for the wait and lack of courtesy with everyone else receiving their items before us despite our arrival and reservation time, but for the fact that we would have maybe 15 minutes to eat, finish our drinks, pay, take our food back to our cars, and make curtain time. What sweet baby angel Max did next flabbered our gasts -- he said not only will our drinks be comped but our whole meal will be comped. He also helped pack our food and kept it in the back so we didn't have to worry about going back to our cars. We made sure to tip him with all we had! We are so glad we did because when we returned after the show, he had the kitchen remake the food and kept it warm for us. When you go to The Eagle, ask for sweet baby angel Max and you will not be disappointed with him, the service, or the food. Because even when they may mess up? The Eagle gets it right with their classy attitude and positive treatment of their customers. You definitely have multiple return customers just from this encounter. Thank you!!!
