Terrible service!!! I had a disappointing experience at this Jimmy John's we are in the area and this is the closest sandwich place. I went to drive-thru and spoke with Allise. She asked how she could assist me but then left me waiting without any follow-up for quite a while. When she finally took my order, there was no apology for the delay. As I was paying, she prompted me to indicate a tip on the screen. I declined and said I didn't want to give any. Her response was, "press x then." After more waiting, I received my sandwiches, and when I thanked her, I got "uhuh" in return--still no acknowledgment of the long wait. Tips should be earned through good service, and a little courtesy and kindness go a long way.

6/3/2024- On the way back home and just wanted to grab a quick lunch.. Right off the freeway and a convenient drive - thru.. Went with the combo little John .. simple basic turkey sandwich.. Drive thru was quick- Staff was friendly!

We were glad we made the trip. The Ambiance is casual and no frills, but also open with nice spacing between tables and lots of windows to let in the natural. There is also a lot of outdoor seating which was not really an option in January. It's a walk up and order and pay process. They give you a number and the food is brought to the table. The staff were friendly and professional. Soft drinks are self serve. My friend and I split our order. No problem, separate bills, and sperate plates. The food overall was good. We deemed the pork schnitzel sandwich delicious and the BLT salad OK. Portions were quite adequate. The plates came out in a timely manner. The only complaint we had was the tables were not cleaned off. Also, the bathroom was also in need of tending. It would be worth a return visit if I were in that part of Reno. Not sure I would drive out of my way to eat there again.

My uncle and I stopped in for lunch yesterday and both ordered Caesar salads, his as the chicken Caesar wrap and mine as the salad with a scoop of tuna. Both were delicious, but the homemade dressing is really what stood out. So good. We also shared a couple glasses of wine out on the patio and loved the overall vibe. The ladies helping us were incredibly nice and welcoming. I already can't wait to come back with my girlfriends for wine and a cheese board!

I will say that I didn't see celery or apples, and I only saw one piece of red onion, but perhaps those things are minced very finely (or incorporated in the salad some other way?). Either way, I have no idea how such a simple looking salad tasted so complex but it was fantastic and I highly recommend ordering it. My husband got the Philly cheesesteak with some sort of French-fry. He enjoyed it but mentioned that he was surprised a place named "The CHEESE Board" had such a light layer of cheese sauce in their Philly cheesesteak sandwich. (He said he wished there was more.) The place was packed but the food was out fairly quickly considering. I will say that I wished the seating felt more spacious, inviting, and comfortable. With a full restaurant and tables so close it wasn't the most relaxing environment to dine in (a bit cafeteria like) but they are limited on dinning space it seems. I did see that they had a kids menu. A child at the table next to us got the $10 plate that included thinly sliced green apple, crackers, cheese, and a meat (salami perhaps?); the portion seemed reasonable for the price and was certainly more than one gets in a Lunchable so I made a mental note that I could see my kids finding something to enjoy here. Overall, fresh food and clean pleasant ambiance. I'm looking forward to returning as well as keeping this place in mind for a visit when I'm hosting guests from out of town that prefer salads and/or more "frou-frou" food.

A Proper Modern Take on Port of Subs…read more If you are after a spot that delivers top-tier sandwiches without any of the faff, Port of Subs is where you want to be. Honestly, it is a bit of a gem. The kind of place you stumble into once and then keep going back because it is just that good. The food is absolutely banging. We are talking over twenty mains plus about eight original numbers that put a clever spin on things. You are in charge from start to finish. Choose the meat, decide if you want it grilled, and pick your oils and extras. It is fully custom, which is how it should be really. And the sizes are a dream. From a modest five inches to a beastly twenty-four inches for when you are properly starving or sharing with mates. Now, the service is where they truly shine. These folks are quick, friendly, and genuinely seem to enjoy what they do. Go in a couple of times, and suddenly, they are greeting you by name and remembering your usual. It is the kind of hospitality you wish more places had. The vibe inside is chill. Clean layout, sandwich-themed decor that has a bit of nostalgic flair without trying too hard. Not packed either, which is a bonus. You have room to breathe, sit down, and actually enjoy your food. Background radio is on, and it is decent. Just enough to give the place a bit of life without overpowering your thoughts. All things considered, Port of Subs is an underrated wonder. Five stars from me without hesitation. If you like food that is made right and served with heart, get yourself down there.
