I met a friend here for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. We got there at 11:30 because we knew it gets busy during the noon hour. And we were right. It got busy. I had the chicken apple salad on a bit of Romain lettuce. It also came with walnuts, blue cheese crumbles, and a raspberry vinaigrette. It was definitely good sized and quite delicious. The lettuce and apples were very fresh and the candied walnuts and blue cheese crumbles were a nice touch. It also came with a small piece of garlic toast. I've been to Michael's several times and have never been disappointed. I have to tell you their sandwiches and potato salad are amazing. If you go, get there early to avoid the long lines! read more

Michael's Deli is not a "sandwich shop". It's an institution. For as long as I've been in Reno this place has been here serving the neighborhood with great food, wonderful quick service, friendly faces and amazing prices. The building is owned by a long-standing local family dating back to the 19th century, not some private equity firm. They stand for Reno and serve the community well. Breakfast is served until 10:30 am, which I don't think many people realize. In a time where so many businesses are held hostage by high rents and disinterested landlords, this place is a welcome oasis that reminds you of what this town is all about. Everything I have had here is good! This time we had a Mandarin Chicken Salad and Caprese Salad. The Caprese Salad was delicious! A generous serving of tomato and mozzarella cheese. Such a cute and nostalgic spot. Tons of seating, welcoming atmosphere and the staff is great. Parking can be tricky, but there are street parking and about a block away is a small one way lot. The triple decker hot corn beef and pastrami sandwich was great! Fully loaded with meat and flavor. 10/10 recommend. The Chicken salad sandwich was just ok. Nothing stood out. It was missing my swiss and the bread got really soggy quickly. I wouldn't order this sandwich again. But that's ok, because the triple decker made up for it. We also ordered the sweet passion salad. Okay when someone suggested Michael's Deli I was like: where when and how? The interior was so homey and very sporty of various sports. You could chill the day away there, enjoy the pictures and the staff. The samich was yummy. Yes I called it samich, it was beautiful, to see all that green, the softness of the bread and no drowning of the mayo. It was such a delightful balance. What a lovely, authentic spot! We had just landed in Reno after an early flight and we were walking downtown looking for something to eat and Michael's Deli caught our eye and I'm so glad it did! Both of our sandwiches were so flavourful and the staff were super friendly. LOVED Michael's Deli! Sandwiches are the perfect size - the French Dutch bread is perfect. I got the TAB sandwich and it was so tasty, perfectly balanced. I truly loved it! We also had the Jalapeño Soup - which was creamy and so comforting for the winter months. This was phenomenal - I'd get this again every time. The apple chicken salad was MASSIVE and so so tasty. This was admittedly, the first time I've been to Michael's deli, even though I've passed it by it so many times throughout the years I got their prosciutto Panini and it was delicious. A great blend of prosciutto cheese pepper Cheaneys all warmed up on a flatbread. Also have the veggie pasta salad, which was very balanced filling but light. This was a great lunch to get without feeling like I broke the bank or was in a food, and could return to work. I will have to try their soup one day. read more

The food is really good and it's usually always a line. Even though they are busy the employees are not rude at all. Very nice very patient. It was my first time there and I let people go ahead of me to order because I was unsure. I ended up choosing a gyro beef sandwich. It definitely hit the spot! There is mostly street parking available. This place is located in midtown so you already know the parking is scary. But luckily there is available parking in the back of the building. This is one of my absolute favorite places to visit for either breakfast or lunch in Midtown. Everything is very clean, organized, and the utensils and napkins are well stocked. I decided to have the breakfast sandwich with sausage on a croissant this morning. It was perfect and exactly what I needed after a busy early morning of yard/ garage/ estate sales. They also have really good crisp filtered water which was very refreshing since it was just starting to warm up outside. The staff are always so great and helpful as well. 10/10 read more

There are two signs, once us order here, any other ones has pick up here, but the rest is up to you to figure out. I ordered two gyros, but one of the employees wasn't very reassuring us to who was I supposed to pay, and not much else explained. I asked the lady at the pick up window, and she said, yes, I could pay there. I had a good sandwich, and I enjoyed the place there. They have a lot of sports memorabilia, and it is really quite the nice place to eat. I love places like Jersey Mike's or a normal sandwich shop. See the pics but we got some turkey sandwiches and I'd actually really recommend the potato salad. It was pretty traditional and just the right amount of ingredients. I loved it on a super hot day in RENO. I'd love to come back here to try some more of the sandwiches! Great spot for lunch! There's always a welcoming vibe at this deli. The service is great, as they are able to move through the busy lunch hours seamlessly. The food is well priced and always tasty. The menu has a huge variety guaranteed to fulfill any dietary needs of whomever you're dining with. I opted for the daily special, the Waldorf salad with generous chunks of perfectly cooked and seasoned chicken breast. It was evenly proportioned with greens and toppings to make a satisfyingly filling salad. My friend ordered the Natty bird which was polished off in its entirety...no complaints there! My better half frequents this place 3-4 times a week, so he brings home his leftovers, which are all delicious as well. The various pasta salads are always full of flavor. Usually this place is very good. I've been going here for years for lunch with my coworkers. But TODAY, I would have to say I'm very unsatisfied with my service. I ordered a B.Y.O sandwich and they gave me the hot pastrami & corned beef triple decker. I went back to correct my order and I proceeded to get another sandwich I didn't order! Even after speaking to the guy who was making the sandwiches. At this point, I didn't want to go back AGAIN since it was such a big deal the FIRST two times. So I just ate half and called it a day. How have I never been here in 20 years? We had the spicy chicken club and the Pete's sandwiches. Both were very flavorful and loaded. The French and Dutch crunch rolls were soft and pillowy with good chew. We also got side orders of potato and macaroni salad. Yes! They are fresh made and terrific. I am super picky about ordering these salads anywhere because I hate commercially made versions. These were great and not all saucy. Our next trip, we will be ordering large servings. The hours for us are difficult, which is probably why we have never been, but we will absolutely be returning. We already know what we will order on the next trip. All the staff were friendly and the food comes out quickly. On a side note, if you like fresh green salads or are just cutting out bread. I preordered a corn beef sandwich. My first thought was to go to Manhattan deli in the Atlantis but between convenience and my budget I decided to try Michael's deli..... The sandwich looked very small but I also don't like anything but meat, mayo & mustard on my cornbeef. To some of my experience, the sandwich seemed skimpy on the meat. The quality of the meat was more prepackaged microwave i can get from port of subs(even though they don't have corned beef but it was reminiscent of their prepackaged microwaved pastrami). I think the next time I have a craving for corn beef. I'll just go into Manhattan deli. It's literally a few more dollars but the quality is obvious. I also ordered pasta salad, which was tasty!
