My ex redhead bf turned me onto Jimmy John's and it's my fav. place for subs. I don't like any other place besides JJ. I know that I am really specific about subs & won't apologize about it. I love the freshly made bread and quality meat and cheese as well. A good afternoon turned into a sour exchange of looks, remarks and food being given away. First off let me start with this. JIMMY WHAT THE ACTUAL.. okay let me not go there. But seriously the cashier looked like he didnt want to be there, didn't fit the role of a speedy John employee at all, and he was a rude young man. So we ordered our sandwiches to receive a run down, sad, sopping, beat up sandwich; The bread was hard but torn as if it were a mess up from days ago. The condiments were runny like loose thread, the meat and cheese tasted alright although it was mediocrely kept with bits of scattered lettuce and splashed of condiments everywhere. Then we get down to the core elements of the sandwich, lettuce and tomatoes. The lettuce was obviously due for a change long before I arrived, the tomato was soggy and seemed lifeless upon further examination. I was extremely upset by the fact they would serve my wife and I such disgust. I casually meander to the counter with the sandwich and start chatting up the cashier about the sandwich and how I don't like it and it doesn't taste correct, and the same with my wife's sandwich. He looked at me with anger in his eyes, while I'm double fisting sandwiches I asked him what could he do to compensate the 13 dollars I just spent there. He simply responded with a brisk "I'm not the manager" While he manager swooped in to save the day and question what I would like him to do, I asked for a refund and they said sorry they can't do that and offered me two cookies. Not to remake the sandwich with fresh lettuce, not offer me a different sandwich to replace it, not even a drink cup offered, Just cookies. I took the cookies and gave the sandwich's to a homeless man who was already eating in there, I warned him about the nasty lettuce and told him they didn't even replace it on the line yet and then the cashier came out and sat in the lobby on his phone while my family and I sat there until the rain died down and left. I'm pretty picky when it comes to subs (I don't care for Quiznos, Subway or Firehouse because they give me a stomach ache and always taste bad, in my opinion.). My mom talked me into trying out Jimmy Johns. I'm glad I did. I like that they are simple. The sandwiches aren't pilled with lots of toppings, which I like because I am a simple type of gal. Though, you can request for additional toppings to be added. The sandwiches are very tasty and fresh! And the bread is the best part, for its so soft! I always get the turkey tom. It comes with tomato, turkey and mayo. I always add onions to mine. My mom always gets the tuna. The service is friendly and fast. They always greet you and get your through the line very quick. It is clean inside and it has a few seats if you choose to sit down and eat there. Because this is in front of Centro Ybor you can always find a spot outside to eat as well. I live about a mile away through some dangerous territory, so I figured the 2 dollars I pre-tipped the guy wouldn't exactly inspire him to haul ass. The customer service at this Jimmy John's is great. Their delivery time is always 5 minutes or less. I don't even know how they make the sandwich that fast, let alone get to my door. The staff is exceptionally friendly and positive. Tonight Phil took my order and was at my door 5 minutes later. He was funny, upbeat and helpful. My dog slipped out and he helped me grab him and get him back into the house. Thank you! They are THE BEST delivery in Ybor, no question. We needed this.
