We were not far from USF & Zeko's looked like an interesting place to try. It has the aura of a fast food place, but the food is for sure mostly Mediterranean. The lady at the counter that waited on us seemed a bit bored & perhaps unhappy to be there. So she was not a good first impression for us, lol. I ordered a beef shawarma & a side of fried mushrooms to share. I admit fried mushrooms are not exactly a common item given a Med menu. When they arrived I had to laugh. We received a large bowl with what looked like golden golfballs. These were literally large mushrooms that had been deep fried. There is no way these were healthy, but they tasted good line State Fair food, lol. The shawarma was surprisingly good for a fast food joint. I've passed by Zeko's more times than I can remember and always wondered what the food was like. Today I visited and thought I'd try it out. The dining area was fresh and clean with a few customers. I tried the chicken Philly and the chicken gyro . The service was great and made my ordering easy. The ambiance is cozy but not small, a few booths and patio seating as well. Went for the first time in four years, and I may say my post is biased, because the flavor was explosive! The first thing you notice before you walk in is the locations usually have this orange tinge (definitely a way for a location to stand out) second, the inside decor is the opposite of outside, where it has a relaxing and incredibly clean setting (which you wouldn't expect in this type of fast food establishment. The people inside are very friendly, and even though their aren't many items on the menu, they're very quick to give recommendations and one person even apologized when the "5 minute" wait was going to take another two minutes. As far as the food; the fries usually are the type that you think are without any salt, but, they do have a bit, so, you want to be careful not to add extra. The chicken Schwarma? The inside and outside are perfect, the pita is soft but well cooked, the chicken is moist and juicy, with the right types of flavor blends. The inside, with pickles, etc, will send you on a flavor trip! Not to mention the sauce. Now, the sauce needs its on section. The toum (garlic sauce) I recommend you get it as a large container, that way you can spoon it onto your fries (for 4+ people) or use a third, and keep the rest for a few more meals. The garlic sauce is a reason alone to go here, to bring for use anywhere! Now, they also have a very spicy sauce, which I would not recommend to most people, as the spice would be too hot for most to handle. Can I handle it? Yes, but, can most people? No. If I could give it more stars I would, careful reading others, as I'm not sure how they built their scales. read more

Zeko's in located in this busy plaza near USF, the place inside is very clean and the customer service is great. They make your shawarmas fresh, even the falafel balls are deepfried as you order it. They have toppings that you can choose from and they make it right in front of you. We tried the chicken and the falafel shawarmas, I liked the Falafel shawarma the most because of the tahini sauce. 4.5 stars for this Greek restaurant that has a good variety. My go-to is the gyro platter, which comes with a substantial amount of food. Service is good. The people that work here truly feel like they are happy to serve you. Management must be great because they also do a nice job of keeping the place clean and going above and beyond. Inside and outside seating. Not much to look at outside but is available when seating is full. Self-serve drink dispenser inside near the counter. After ordering you select a seat and they'll bring the food out to you. No wait service after that so no tip necessary. Self-service cleanup after the meal. The restaurant does a nice environmental job by using hard plates and real silverware. Plenty of parking and right across the street from Busch Gardens. This is our go-to for after a day at the park. They offer very late hours so it is almost always open when you crave Greek! Their selection of food is extensive! read more

Wow I just ate at Zeko's Mediterranean Grill and the food was fantastic! My family and I have high standards for Mediterranean food and we were seriously impressed by how authentic and high quality the food was here. Everything was freshly made to order- even the bread! They didn't take any short cuts, it was clear to us that nothing was just frozen and reheated. The service was great, too. The woman who took our order at the front answered all of our questions and gave us informed suggestions food-wise because we were struggling to decide what to order at first. You wouldn't come here for the ambiance necessarily, but the place feels like a hole in the wall and I personally love that hidden gem sort of feel they have going on. Came here with a small group after helping plant some flowers and plants at a nearby assisted living facility....I didn't know it was here... They had a Greek gyro salad special that day and it was not only tasty, it was HUGE! I had leftovers for like 2 days! Everyone's dishes were filled to the brim. And VERY reasonably priced. My husband and I were in Tampa on May 4th to go to Busch Gardens. We needed to have something to eat for dinner, and I remembered that Trina at Hampton Inn had mentioned how good the food was back in January. So, this trip we went there! We ordered our food at the counter and paid for it there, too. We were given cups to get our own drinks, the sweet tea was delicious!! I had ordered the large shrimp platter with steak fries and my husband had a gyro platter with steak fries . When the food was brought to the table, I could not believe that it was a large platter, it looked like a jumbo!!! The shrimp and the fries were delicious, you know those steak fries that are double-fried that are good and hot and have a slight crunch, these were just that!! The shrimp were a decent size and were yummy! Steve said that his meal was delicious, too! No ketchup was on his fries, he said that they were too good for ketchup!!! Best Mediterranean salad I've had in a while! It would be 5 stars if they would include pita bread and some garlic sauce with kabobs.

One of my favorite spots for shawarma, especially late night! Don't sleep on the salads either. Love this place!

Workers are ver sweet and efficient, food was soo tasty, tasted REAL and fresh and a good price, and restaurant is very well kept and clean!

There was a big roach in the tea drain, and the seat were sticky and the were crumbs on the table. The service was decent.

They have a selection of Mediterranean foods such as Falafel, hummus, gyros (chicken? and standard). Several other items to round out the menu. We started with the hummus and pita. Oh my. Warm, soft pita bread accompanied by rich, thick, tasty hummus. Just the right amount of oil and seasonings to make it perfect. Large enough portion for the table to share. Gyros were served with a side of fries. The pita was warm and slightly toasted. The tzaziki sauce was very good. The meat could have used a bit more seasoning for my tastes as it was a bit bland, but still good. Fries were okay with added salt. All in all a good meal at a reasonable price. I was in Tampa for work and was craving some Mediterranean food. My colleagues and I were unsure of exactly where to go. I looked up on Yelp for some local restaurants in the area that were 4 stars and above. We stumbled upon Zeko's Mediterranean Grill! There is a drive-thru area and a inside sit-down restaurant. As soon a we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted with a smile and a welcome. We informed the Zeko's team that we were new to the Tampa area. The front register attendee told us that we had to try their rice, beans, and pico de gallo mix. He offered us a gracious amount of samplings at the register. It was amazing! The flavor tasted fresh. The beans were cooked well and the rice was not dry. After looking at a variety of options on the menu, I opted to try their chicken gyro with hummus instead of the tzatziki sauce that comes on-top of the gyro. For my side, instead of the French fries, opted for the rice, beans and pico de gallo. My colleagues had ordered the fish n chips and the chicken gyro with hummus and the tzatziki sauce. The restaurant was absolutely spotless! It was well cleaned, stocked, and organized. We ended up sitting at a booth table inside the restaurant. We waited for about 5 minutes until the order started to roll in! The hummus came to the table first. I was quite surprised actually because I thought the hummus was suppose to go on the chicken gyro, instead it was a large hummus side plate with pita. The team then proceeded to bring over a relatively large bowl of rice, beans, and pico de gallo mix. It was way too much food for just a lunch! The chicken gyro arrived and I was blown away by how much food and quality of the meal that was provided by Zeko's for under $10.00. I had enough food to cover dinner for the evening!! The Hummus was seasoned well. Zeko's didn't over due the hummus with too much lemon, and just enough chickpea mix. The Pita was a little different than what I am used it. Instead of a thin pita, Zeko's provides a thick pita bread for your hummus. The chicken gyro was very good. The chicken wasn't dry or overcooked and their was plenty in the bita bread. Next time I'm back in Tampa, I'll be visiting Zeko's again! Great food and great customer service! read more

Do not sleep on this place. They are open till 4 AM. Better than McDonald's or IHOP. Stopped by late and picked up fresh made food. The portions are big so if you get one entrée it's enough to share, especially if you are eating late at night. A little on the pricey side but hey, the food is worth it. Burgers are char-grilled, the Gyros are amazing. Meat is sliced deli thin just like I like it. My favorite late night go to spot. read more

I like this place more than I thought I would. Totally enjoyed my chicken kebobs and my son loved his fries. There is a pleathora of items to choose from and I feel like I should have sat down to look at the menu first before just jumping into my decision. I can't wait to go back. It's our usual go to after Busch Gardens and even though the prices are a bit steep you get a TON of food, so it's well worth the value. I hear the shakes are really good and I'm looking forward to trying the wings which I heard is one of their top sellers! Why 3 stars? Because I had high hopes but was a bit disappointed. --- --- --- I don't know why it took me so long to get to Zeko's, but I recently became determined to check them out soon. I happened to be in the area and figured it was finally time to make this happen. My very first impression was that I was excited to see a drive-thru. I had been on my feet for hours and really didn't feel like getting out of the car and putting on a mask. My wife and I both ordered a gyro, but she went with a Greek salad as her side, while I opted for fries. To be honest, all of it was just okay. I don't love the gamey flavor of lamb and prefer gyros that only have beef, but that was not an option. As expected, I thought it was decent, but would have enjoyed it much more without the lamb. The fries were unremarkable and the salad had a minty flavor to it that I wasn't very into. We did enjoy the potato salad inside the salad, at least. My favorite part of the meal was the banana shake. Despite the other stuff not turning out how I hoped, the shake was excellent. Overall, I'll probably opt for some alternative options closer to my house when I'm craving Greek food in the future. read more
