The food is fantastic, plentiful and so authentic ! Jim and his wife are INCREDIBLE !!! What a friendly couple who make you feel right at home. My husband Tim just came home with our To-Go order of Jim's Special Chow Fun and Mandarin Prawns. I was taking everything out of the bag and saw a third container marked "For Gift" ! I opened the large container mind you and it was the most melt-in-your-mouth yet perfectly crispy salty peppery and oniony battered chicken breast nuggets ! O. M. G. ! Tim and I stood in the kitchen and devoured half of the Gift ! What a wonderful, generous and kind surprise that was.... We can't wait to dig into Jim's Special Chow Fun which is so heavy we'll be eating two meals worth LOL, and their Mandarin Prawns look fantastic as well. The one major positive is the wait staff is very friendly. Other than that, the food is really lacking, it's hard to understand why some reviews are so positive of the food. I got orange chicken and chow mein and the chicken was so sweet, fatty, and lacking any savoriness. The chow mein was flavorless and just overall disappointing. I brought multiple mom here after reading the reviews. I am glad we came. It's a hole in the wall place...but we'll worth the visit. It's easy to miss if you drive by...its in the corner with a green awning. We sat down and we looked over the menu. We decided to try the sweet and sour pork with half fried rice half chow mein. While we waited on our food they brought is these free appetizers...oh my goodness they were delicious. I did not expect that. The staff was so nice and attentive. The food was not bad either, though definitely lacking in the kind of flavor I would expect from a Chinese restaurant in a bigger city. The hot and sour soup was strange. In our opinion it was neither hot nor sour. It wasn't that it tasted bad, per se, but it was pretty bland and lacked and kick. I'd give it a 3. The salt and pepper fish was my favorite dish, and my husband's was the green beans. Those we would give a 4. The chow mien was not great. I have to admit that upon seeing the restaurant I was skeptical, but once we got in and smelled all of the wonderful food being made, we were delighted. It looks like a "hole in the wall" (and probably is considered one), but it was absolutely fabulous food and the service was delightful! We were even treated to a small plate of appetizers for free, which was broccoli and green beans in a tempura batter. We had the cashew beef dish which fed both my husband and me and we still ended up with leftovers. Plus we ended up getting an order of six combination eggrolls that were also very tasty. From the minute we first walked in to Jim's, we were welcomed with a chorus of "hello!"'s and it just kept getting better from there. We had just spent the day moving and were hungry like we had never been. Boy am I glad we picked this place! The incredibly delicious food, the genuinely sweet service, the generous and yummy gifts from Helen who works tirelessly to create amazing dishes, all of it adds up to an absolute gem of a restaurant that we look forward to coming to again and again. This place is your average hole in the wall that serves up quick American Chinese food. The lady was busy but also pleasant. I ordered the crab wontons, beef and vegetable chow fun, beef and broccoli as well as the chicken and broccoli which were both served with fried rice. In the south (Georgia), the crab wontons are generally sweeter and more creamy, which was what I somewhat expected, but the ones here only tasted like minced imitation crabmeat mixed with a touch of cream cheese. The chow fun was quickly thrown together and also not really up to par with what I'm used to. The noodles were stuck together and overall, it wasn't properly seasoned. I'd say the food is really intended for people who like inauthentic Chinese food. It was very filling, and the lady was even kind enough to give me a plate full of fried chicken and two egg rolls as a nice gesture. Since I typically enjoy eating more authentic and regional Chinese food, I won't likely return here only because the food doesn't fit my preferences. read more

Small family run business that's a must for good Chinese food in town. Great dim sum and the dishes were all made to order. The staff was incredibly friendly and one of the owners threw in a little extra since we were new to the area. We have a variety of random sticky and fried goodness. The non-descript exterior & old school interior holds top notch food. Jim's is no ordinary Chinese restaurant. I'm going to assume that the chef has formal Chinese culinary training. See the pic of my Kung Pao Chicken (extra spicy but not overpowered by the chilis, allowed more subtle flavors to break thru), and bonus sesame balls added by the nice order taker / server. When it comes to food, I tend to be a no-frills kinda person. I don't care if the place I'm going to uses truffle oil or Himalayan sea salt or any other dainty cuisine addition that makes my food special. Jim's is a no-frills kinda place. We meshed well. The prices were standard, the portions were large (I love large portions), the service was quick and the employees have multi tasking down to pat! I watched one of them seat new customers, finish a to-go order, and clean a table in one fell swoop. It was great. Efficiency like that has to be admired. My only complaint (it's a dainty one) is that I wish the food were a little more spicy. Or spicy in any way. They had the usual chili peppers with what we ordered (kung Pao chicken), but there was no kick to the dish at all. Being that I have to watch how much of the Taco Bell Hot sauce I use before it's too much for me, that's saying something. Also - for pickier eaters than me it's important to know this is more of an American Chinese food restaurant. For a restaurant of its kind, Jim's deserves 4/5 stars for being efficient and serving great portions. On the grand spectrum of restaurants, it's somewhere around a 3/5, which is pretty good for a simple American Chinese restaurant. Parking in front of the restaurant and seating are somewhat limited, though there's plenty of parking nearby. read more

My friend and I were craving for beef wanton then I googled "wanton soup near me." Jim's came up so we tried it. The place is tiny but they serve really good and affordable food. Staff are all friendly and make sure that everything is going well. I love boba so I recommend this place because they got the super affordable boba drink. read more

There was people waiting outside to order so I knew it would be good. This little mom and pop shop were hustling between people at the shop and phone orders. While in the area for a mini vacation we tried to experience things one may not ordinarily find appealing and yelp allows visitors to do just that. We wanted to try a local Chinese Restaurant that was a local favorite but 180 degrees out from the chains restaurants and boy does Jim's fit that profile. When we drove up we both looked at each other and decided we were committed to trying this place even though the outside appearance was a little scary looking and we agreed we would play it safe and order things that would be virtually impossible to screw up. We walked in the through an old screen door to find a really small restaurant with the menu plastered on the walls with giant pictures of each item. We found a small table open against the far wall next to the checkout counter and order window. We were immediately greeted by the most friendly family staff and handed a menu and gave our drink orders I opted for a can coke and glass of ice and my partner in this adventure ordered hot tea (which was served in a metal tea pot from the 60's it appeared). After searching the menu we opted for a bowl of Jim's Won Ton Soup to start (giant bowl serves 2-3 easily) it was filled to the brim with a great broth, won tons and an arrays of meats and veggies I couldn't completely identify everything but it was ohhhh so good. We were then given a plate of appetizers on the house after placing our orders it included sesame seed balls, spring rolls and pot stickers with a sweet and sour sauce all which were excellent. I ordered beef and broccoli with chicken fried rice extra extra spicy and she ordered Hunan Chicken with chicken fried rice (sooooo much food we could have shared one entree for sure) the food was excellent I suggest you ask for everything extra spicy cause I could agreed it could be a little bland but fresh and we very much enjoyed it all. Beside the menu items plastered on the walls there are also multiple magazine articles and awards Jim's has won. After spending a little extra time enjoying our meal Helen one of the owners came buy and introduced herself and struck up a conversation asking about out meals and where we were from she is just the most pleasant person you will find we ended up exchanging hugs upon our departure and made friends for life we definitely would return if ever in the area again it was a very cool experience. read more

January 2nd 2024: I was in town with my family for a vacation. We were craving for Chinese food and found this place based on the good reviews. We are excited to try. Turn out they have the worst rude service ever . As soon as I walked in , the lady immediately said no table for dine in, only to go and ignore me. I haven't even told her how many person. There are a few table finishing and even one of the customers telling me they are leaving soon so I can take their table. I just feel like they don't want any business. I understand they are busy , but she just pushed customers away in a very rude way when she can do it in a polite way. When I asked how long is the wait for Togo, she said one hour. read more
