I've ordered food at Jin Chan twice. The first experience was pretty good, food was yummy delivery took about 40 mins. The second time I had HORRIBLE experience. After ordering dinner around 8PM, my boyfriend and I waited an hour and our food still hasn't arrived. I gave them a call and they told us it was on its way. 20 minutes later (9:20PM) our food still hasn't arrived. I gave them a call again to cancel our order because now it is getting late and we did not want to wait anymore. The person who answered the phone was RUDE and unsympathetic. He proceeds to say that we should wait longer and that this was "normal" for delivery to take this long. He refuses to cancel our order and says "I can't help you" over and over again and hung up on me. The food arrived 20 mins later, while I have already gotten some fast casual and the driver expected us to pay for the meal. The food was COLD and it was obvious it's been sitting out for a while. Not very good. The fiance had some very fond memories of eating at this place while starving through college. He insisted/suggested this place as pit stop while passing through Boulder during a recent trip to Colorado. Unfortunately the current place did not live up to his memories...at all... The place is pretty sad. I guess it used to be attached the neighboring Asian grocery store. Anyways, the food was not good and the fiance's meat may have been on the downside of its lifespan. I had a spicy basil eggplant with shrimp dish with rice. It was both pretty greasy and had that cornstarch-as-thickener look and gloss to the sauce. Gross. Not very appetizing but still edible. Like I said above, the fiance had a beef stir fry and the beef was definitely not fresh. I ordered a thai iced tea which was clearly made from a powder mix and not very well dissolved...very pasty and with a weird medicine-ey taste. Oh man, was this awful. If you're looking for cheep Chinese food in Boulder, this is not your place! Admittedly, I only paid $3.99 for an order of Orange Chicken, but it was tiny! 5 pieces, tops. The breading on the chicken was uneven- crunchy in some parts, but mostly soggy. The chicken (was it even chicken?) itself was terrible, too. It was brown, squishy and crunchy all at once. While eating, I wondered if it was beef or pork by mistake, but I still dont know. Regardless, it was so awful, I threw away my food. The cheese wontons were good, though. So I'm from Chicago so no way any Chinese food can compare. The Egg Rolls in Chicago are big and crunchy and filled with awesome goodness. Most meals are too. I have tried 2 places since I moved to Boulder and they were so bad I said I would not try another but this place not bad. Even though these are skinny little egg rolls and not the same at all they were Ok and tasty, The Mongolia beef was good but not great. Sauce should be thicker and it should have much more heat but it was at least a 7 out of 10 I would try the place again but not order through Grub Hub as it took a long long time to get here. read more

One of Boulder's hidden gems. Since it changed hands, it has become better and better. The renovations are wonderful, the food is authentic, consistent, and totally delicious, and the husband-wife duo are lovely and dedicated. This place was awesome. Been in Boulder 9 years and only just now tried this place out- it was a Wednesday night and it was packed. We sat inside and ate and while we did have a wait Awhile for the food it was very much worth it. They only had two people working and they were killing it! The woman working the front counter was so nice for how busy it was and it was impressive watching them just churn out to go orders and in house orders. Every single table was full and there was at least two people line the entire time we were there. Wowza. We got the Crab Wontons and Mongolian Chicken and Sesame Tofu and they were all so fresh and yummy. I'm not a vegetarian so I cannot speak to the integrity of the Sesame Tofu (I didn't inquire if it was fried in different oil, or if a meat broth was used in the sauce, etc) but I can tell you that it was so so so good. Anyhow- overall, I can't recommend this place enough! I also recommend eating in house- it's cozy and it's awesome getting the food so fresh instead of it sitting in a to go container. read more

Authentic food. Owners are from Shenyang. They have a really wide selection. I would recommend anything I ate there from noodle dishes to lamb to tofu. They also have a bunch of vintage cameras on the wall just because they like them. It's cozy. read more

I was sick and determined not to leave the house, so I decided to order delivery to the house via Hungry Buffs. When my order hadn't arrived in over an hour I called to make sure it had gone through. The person who answered the phone said it was at the front of the queue, but they'd been busy, so it was taking a while. It took another 40 minutes before the delivery came. I live blocks from this restaurant and my food all arrived cold. I got the pork buns, sesame chicken (I know, not authentic, but I was sick and it was what seemed appealing at the time) and crab rangoons. The total was $23. The buns were dry and flavorless. The filling in the rangoons was weird. The chicken smelled divine but tasted like stale garlic oil. I nibbled a little bit and left the rest to eat the next day. The next day all I could bring myself to eat was the fried rice. Threw the rest out. I'd maybe give it another shot stopping in the restaurant and ordering some of the more authentic Chinese food, but I didn't like this and will NOT be ordering delivery again read more

Handmade from scratch dumplings! Home-style Chinese dishes! I am so happy this cozy restaurant has opened in Boulder. It is the most authentic Chinese food in town, and the couple who own and cook for the restaurant are super friendly and experienced. They've re-done the inside to feature a few of the couple's vintage cameras from their own personal collection, and it's right next to the Asian grocery store. From the front of the menu, I was worried that they might only serve "Chinese American" style food (i.e. orange chicken), but the back of the menu has an amazing list of tasty home-style choices as well! So far we have enjoyed: Singapore noodles with shrimp (incredible huge high quality shrimp), cold chili beef tendon, cold marinated boiled chicken, crispy duck, the seafood + crunchy veggie hotpot, fish & bamboo shoot, spicy eggplant, and, of course, the homemade dumplings (boiled or fried) which are thick-skinned and delicious. read more

I love this place & the owners are so kind. I get the best service I have ever received from a Chinese restaurant. I order from JinChan at least once a month for work. I call in the night before & place my massive order for all dinner entrees to be delivered between 11:40am & 12:00pm. Per my request, they call when they are in the parking lot and I lead them to where I have to set up the food. They bring 20-30 entrees, all the fixings and are always on time. Everyone loves their food. Some of the company favorites are the sesame chicken, orange chicken, panang curry & szechuan beef. Saw the great reviews so we decided to stop by for lunch. We were told to order at the counter first. The menu's were disgustingly dirty. We should have left but no-I believed all of the great reviews. Hey this girl waiting on us had an attitude for sure! My bill total was $19 and change-then I made the mistake of adding a soda. She added the soda and told me the price. I didn't understand her so I asked what the price was. She SHOUTED $20 and some change -hence the attitude-gave her $20.50 hoping it was enough. I ordered from the lunch menu-a shrimp dish-It was tasty-but the scoop of rice with it was sooooo small. Uhm rice is cheap! My husband ordered a Thai Panang curry-by the way on the lunch menu but they said Nooooooo-not included in lunch special but in the lunch special section on menu. It was SOUP-not noted on menu. It was bland. Tried to doctor it up with soy sauce. We noticed a man at another table had to keep asking for things-silverware, water, ice things that they should bring to the table as it is NOT a cafeteria-but the tip jar is out! I just went and got my own-oh well no service-no tip. On the paper menu is a coupon for 2 egg rolls with $20 order-mine was over $20. We asked for the egg rolls. Sorrrrrrry-haha it is for carry out ONLY. Will we be back-I don't think so. I'll spend my $20 somewhere else for a great lunch WITHOUT the attitude and extremely POOR service! I really enjoyed this eatery. Granted it's not the best Chinese food in the world, but it's the best of what it is. I actually enjoyed how when I ordered lemon chicken, it came with soup, an egg roll and rice. I liked that, cause it was only about $12. I felt it was rightly priced for what I got too! It wasn't overly greasy, (what Chinese food isn't?). The wonton soup was delicious, albeit not the most creative soup. The lemon sauce for the chicken felt a little jelled, but trustworthy.
