I had a disappointing experience here last night. After ordering, my boyfriend received his meal very quickly. I understand that the restaurant is busy, but it had been 40 or so minutes after him receiving his food and me not receiving mine. Also people who were seated after us already all had their food and I didn't. During this time, no one had checked up on us so I had to get up and ask someone at the register what was going on with my meal. They said that the cook is making it now, but at this point my boyfriend had already finished his food and enough time was wasted and it was already late. We had waited 30-40 minutes to get seated, and another 30-40 minutes before checking in on my food. Our dinner was already ruined because we weren't able to enjoy our meal together and because we received such terrible service (we didn't really receive any). The workers did apologize and note that one of the servers accidentally gave my meal to another table. I understand that mistakes are made but nothing was communicated to us and no one checked in after we ordered. They tried to compensate with a 20% discount, but that didn't fix our already ruined dinner. read more

I finally had a chance to come eat here for lunch today. My sister spoke highly of this place, especially their kimchi so I took her and my wife here. We came exactly at noon so we didn't have to wait to be seated and it was raining. I found parking fine because it's in a big plaza. I ate at the pho place nextdoor before and saw the line that this place can get at nightime because they dont have alot of tables inside. My wife got their Spicy Tofu Soup, my sister got the Kal Guk Soup and I got their spicy shrimp steamed dumplings. My wife and my sister liked the kimchi and the other side dishes they had at the table. My shrimp dumplings came out first and I thought it was good. It had a nice spice to it and I didn't even use the sauce that came with it. My wife enjoyed her tofu soup and the spice level as well. My sister thought her Kal Guk soup was delicious. I was also able to order more kimchi to go to let my mom try it. The service we received was spectacular and they stayed attentive to our table. I've ordered from here a few times and ate at the restaurant a few times. I want to love it but I don't think I will be getting food from here anymore. I ordered galbi Jim for pick up and when i got home it was mainly large carrots and onions and not even very well cooked carrots (they were on the hard side) and the little meat they gave me tasted old and like its been frozen for too long and expired. It's way too expensive for carrots and onion. The rice portion was very small too. The ban chan portion too! Yeah, it's gonna have to be a no for me, unfortunately. I hope they place more emphasis on quality if they are going to ask for so much money. read more

At the time of this writing, probably one of the best Korean restaurants in the valley. Staff generally nice and helpful, and the food is consistently good. The space is a little cramped but they made the most of it, and it certainly has that Korean vibe. Sometimes the wait is a little long because of the popularity. The banchan also varies depending on what's available but most of the time it seems to be beans sprouts, vinegar cabbage, soaked onions, kimchi, and pickled root. The key to not waiting too long is to go on weekdays or before/after rush hours. I have tried almost everything on the menu, even their summer specials (the chewy root noodle with vinegar, forgot the name), and most items on the menu will not be bad. Even the katsu here is pretty decent, which can sometimes be hit or miss at Korean places in the valley. The beef I get in the Soon tufo is always very easy to chew through and I have not yet had a bad experience here. read more

Jin Cook's server, Tim, was extremely unprofessional and racist. He noticeably treated other customers better than my friend and I, who are both Hispanic. He would have friendly talks with the other patrons and provided more frequent servicing to them (all of whom were coincidentally non-Hispanic at the time), which was the complete opposite of how he distinctly treated our table. Tim gave us odd looks and curt words, even though we were respectful, well-mannered, and big fans of Korean soul food. I would encourage others who are against racism to avoid this place while that guy is there. No food is worth supporting someone who looks down on your group. read more

Korean food is my favorite, but not many places do it well in the Valley. Jin Cook is really a gem. I have zero complaints other than I wish they always had the oi muchim (seasoned cucumber) banchan because it's my favorite. The Kalguksu portion is generous and full of so many goodies in addition to what's listed on the menu. The Dwaeji Gukbap is lovely and silky and so clean tasting. NOTE: the last time we dined in, a man at a nearby table was not familiar with this dish and was upset that it was served to him "bland" but that is how it is traditionally!!! They provide you with salted shrimp and fresh gochujang to season it yourself to your taste. This is the best bulgogi I've had on this side of town. If you don't feel like taking the drive to KTown this place is next best for the valley/ porter ranch area. My boyfriend and I came here a couple days ago for the first and we will definitely be back. There wasn't a wait for 2 during the weekday. We were able to get a booth and was immediately greeted by our server. She was very prompt and checked up on us multiple times throughout our dinner. The banchan was amazing. The best kimchi I have ever had! The food came out shortly after ordering and everything was delicious. The mandi was juicy and the dipping sauce was sweet and tangy. Not pictured is the beef soondubu. The beef melts in your mouth and it wasn't too spicy. We have no complaints and we cannot wait to come back and try more dishes! I'm glad there is a great new Korean spot here in the deep valley. We Went there on a Saturday night and it was busy. We waited for about 45 mins. The ambiance is intimate. The restaurant is clean and servers are attentive. Food is very tasty. Great sides that get refilled when you want. The spicy tofu soup hit the spot and the hot stone bulgogi was on fire. Yes! Their Galbi Jjim! Great! I like cheese but I don't think cheese is good matching with this, cheese covering the savory taste so you may not taste all different savory tastes. Wow! What an amazing new restaurant in Porter Ranch. We have been missing these cafe style restaurants and this definitely hits the spot. Kristin- the head server was THE WORST. Kristin, the server was one of the rudest person I ever dealt with. We walked in for a to-go order (since they did not ANSWER their phone, she said they were too BUSY to answer). We asked her if we can order some food togo, then she made a face & said "oh.. we are busy, so it's going to take a very long time, like 40+ mins, do you still want to get something to go?" - to me, it felt like she was trying to get us not order there. We still did, and I was asking how spicy certain food was, then she goes, "Why don't you just order something NOT spicy?" But said it with the most disrespectful way with so much attitude. I was turned off by then, but my mom still wanted to try the food. Food was ok. - We felt like a burden to her. Then she rang us up, my mom put her credit card in, she didn't have her reading glasses on, so she was struggling to see, but then Kristin kept RUSHING her and saying how busy she was. At one point, my mom didnt even had chance to look at the screen, and she took it away. We found out she charged us 18% tip without our knowledge. my family and i love jin cook! we came here on a saturday night and it was definitely packed with a waiting list out the door. we waited for around 30-45 mins to be seated but this was expected considering that the space is small and this place is well loved by the community! upon being seated, we were promptly asked about drinks/orders which, again, is great considering how busy they were. the service is wonderful and the staff is able to handle so much simultaneously with phone orders, take out, and fine-in orders rolling in. the interior of the place is reminiscent of a modern korean pocha and is definitely a place to eat with more than 2 people. we were quite surprised that the menu states that their braised beef short rib hot plates are meant for 2 people because it could easily feed four to five people. the same goes for the tteokbokki and the bulgogi pancake. i've heard many people say that the korean food in socal is just as good, if not better, than the food in korea and jin cook is a testament to that statement. they use quality ingredients in their menu items and they hold their banchan to the same quality as well. seriously, my sister and i are still raving about their kimchi and their pickled radish to this day. while the food is definitely pricey, the amount of servings you get and the quality of the food makes it 100% worth it to eat at jin cook. for sfv locals, it's great tp be able to get some quality korean soul food without having to go all the way to koreatown in LA. read more

Jin Cook is a good restaurant. I went when there was a soft opening, so many of the items on the menu were not available. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice. It looks like the outdoors of Korea. It may be a bit crowded, so when it gets busy, it is hard to get around the servers, but you can manage to squeeze your way around. The food is delicious. I wish they had given a little more side dishes with the meal. When I asked the servers to give me extra rice for my baby, they said they were out of bowls, so they couldn't. But when the manager came around, she quickly grabbed it for me. I think they are trying to work out the kinks. Overall, the food was good, but they can work on communication with the servers. Some dishes were on the sweeter end for me but my husband isn't seem to mind it. read more

Full disclosure... I'm not very familiar with authentic Korean cuisine. But, I have tried a few places, including a few good restaurants in Koreatown. Jin Cook missed the mark for me. I had the mushroom Japchae and tasted the scallion pancake. I found them, both, to be under seasoned. Service was friendly, but you could tell they were still adapting as they didn't pickup their phone, no matter how many times we tried and a few items on the menu were not yet available. They seated our party of eight right away. The booth was a bit tight, but we made it work. I will likely give this place another try in the future, once they have settled in. read more
