For $20, you only get four thin slices of meat jun and four mandoo 2 scoops rice. We ordered the Jin Joo Special for $35, and it was honestly disappointing--not worth the price at all. I actually laughed when I saw the tiny sliver of meat jun that was served. Come on! We've been coming here for years and have never seen such a drastic change in portion sizes. The portions have become ridiculously small while the prices keep going up. We had a table of four, and the banchan served was barely enough for one person. Unfortunately, the value just isn't there anymore. At this point, you're better off going down the road for a more flavorful Korean feast. read more

Why do they charge a mandatory tip for take-out orders starting at 15 percent? It's forced and not optional. They got a new Clover POS tablet versus manual receipts. Whoever programmed it for them is a ripoff. I normally give 5 to 8 percent tip for takeout. 15 percent is high being you are not sitting down and being served. read more

Well the food was good the quantity a little light and the service was rude. The meat Jun, bbq pork and fried mandoo were all good. The ban Chan was also good. The disappointment was the service. Even if the food is rated a 4 out of 5 I have to minus two just for the service. Our server didn't have a name tag on so I just called her "aunty". The second time I asked for something she responded by saying my name is not aunty, my name is Mimi! She also started to clear the table when I was still eating my meal. Very rude! I ordered take out. 1/2 tray of Their Khal Bi. Ten pieces from the large Bone short ribs. Absolutely delicious. They placed foil around the meat, boxed it into two containers and made it so easy to take on the plane back to Hilo. A bit pricey but good short ribs is expensive. Can't compare to the thin cuts. Initially wanted to eat at another restaurant in this area but that restaurant was closed. Decided to eat here instead. Got the seafood pancake, meat/fish jun plate. The seafood pancake was crispy with lots of different seafood in it. The meat/fish jun was decent but seemed like a small portion for the price. The meat jun were also very thinly sliced meat without much flavor. We got a few refills of the banchan but when I asked for thirds of a couple items, the server told me that it would be the last time she can refill it. The banchan are fairly small portions so I was surprised she wouldn't give us any more refills of the items. read more

We were a group of 4, the server asked us what to order and we told our orders. She asked us if that's all, since that looks like it's only for two people. And gave us a side-eye. We told her we selected the right amount since we're not too hungry. She came back and gave us small portions. Small portions for the main plate and small portions for the side. For a $30 meal and $20 meal. (Knowing them, they've always given decent amounts) Over-all their Manju and Kalbi didn't Taste good because of their attitude. Dinner in Aiea, O'ahu, Hawaii... I was starving and couldn't think of where to go. I looked at the Bookmarks on my Yelp app and settled on pho. It just so happened that the pho place at Waimalu Shopping Center is closed on Wednesdays. That's lucky for Jin Joo Korean Restaurant, which is right next door! I easily found parking because I beat the dinner crowd. Several people stopped in for takeout, and there were a few people dining-in. The cheerful server greeted me right away, showed me to a table, and brought iced water, utensils, and a menu. I quickly decided on The Jin Joo Special Plate (#1) because it had some of everything: mandoo (with some glass noodles in it), BBQ chicken, bulgogi, kalbi (smokey flavor), zucchini jun, meat jun, and 2 scoops of rice. It was all good - delicious and hit the spot! The banchan arrived first - yum! I tried each side dish even though I don't like spicy food! The slightly tart and sweet seaweed was my favorite. The crunchy cucumber followed, with the tofu and fish cake next. The cabbage and especially the bean kimchi were too challenging for me. I enjoyed the pleasant, old-school vibe! The server really made me feel comfortable by chatting about Instagram because she noticed me taking several photos... LOL! I'll post there tomorrow... Haha! A friend recommended this place a long time ago so finally decided to try it. I looked over the menu for the plate lunches and the pictures didn't show if it came with any banchan. Found out it comes with 4: 1. Bean sprouts 2. Choysum 3. Kim chee 4. Cucumber kim chee Ordered the Meat Jun for me and the BBQ Chicken for my husband. The Meat Jun was good as other Korean places I've bought from. It's the sauce that gives it the flavor but I'm still trying to find a restaurant that has a tasty egg batter I used to order from that is no longer in business **so sad**. As for the BBQ Chicken, it was a little dry even with the sauce they gave but it was tasty. This place is located in the Waimalu Shopping Center with lots of parking. The worker was friendly and said the wait will be about 10 minutes...the food was ready in less than 10 minutes! Yay! read more

We were able to have our three kids watched by the in-laws while we go out one last time before my wife gives birth to our 4th (induced on Tuesday). Craving Korean food and heard that this place was as authentic as it gets. So we go. And it nailed everything. It was busy so we were told that the wait was going to be about 30 minutes. We didn't mind so we stood outside. They did not have an official sign in list and the cashier seemed to have wrote my name on the back of a receipt to keep track of who was next for seating. The waitress/hostess came outside and told us that she cleared her "work" table for us because she didn't want my wife to wait too long due to be pregnant and ready to pop any second. This was really nice of her and we appreciated it! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside everyone is tightly packed. There are plastic partition walls they roll around to give tables privacy which was nice because when you sit down you don't even notice you are sitting a couple inches away from the other table, honestly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the M.M.C (Meat Jun, Mandoo, and Chicken) & a soup that I don't remember... and would probably butcher the name of. Looked for a restaurant on Mondays and a lot of restaurants are closed don't know why. Ended up in Waimalu shopping center at a place called Jin Joo. I ordered the Mandoo/ chicken and meat Jun. the Mandoo was gummy tough filled with grease, the chicken was sliced thin and the worse Meat Jun ever the batter was consistent like a pancake. The portions were so small I was affronted and alarmed that I was paying $22 for this small plate. Then when it was time to pay, I was speaking to someone and the big female waitress kept staring at me to pay the bill- we were NOT done eating- worse experience ever never going back. My mom absolutely LOVES Jin Joo and I finally got the chance to try here for lunch with my sister. It did not disappoint! My sister loves the Fish Jun ($17.95) so she immediately ordered that. I couldn't decide what I wanted because I love Soondubu no matter the weather, but it was really hot outside so I thought that Soondubu would only make me feel even hotter. I also love meatjun, but wanted to try something more authentic. I finally decided on the Bibim Kook Soo ($14.95) and thank goodness I did! This is probably the best Bimbim Kook Soo I ever tasted. It was perfectly flavored. It wasn't too spicy either which I liked. I loved the small pieces of bulgogi and the cucumbers were a nice crunch. It actually paired well with my sister's Fish Jun. The Fish Jun was so tender and moist. I sorta kept eating her food LOL. I could understand why that dish is my mom and sister's favorite. The Mandoo ($12.00) was also delicious and homemade. It was very filling with lots of meat and crunchy on the outside. Their magic sauce also makes the Fish Jun and Mandoo taste even better. I loved the banchan too. It's pretty hard to be disappointed with any Korean restaurant's banchan. Service was quick and the ahjummas are nice. Food came out super quick and I wasn't disappointed with anything. I love it here and wished I lived on this side so that I could eat here more often! Also, there is a small restroom for patrons in case you need to use the restroom. Now my go-to restaurant for kbbq. One of the best kimchee fried rice I've tried and I'm really picky when it comes to fried rice. It comes in a good enough sized portion for 2 people. I've also tried their kalbi, japchae, and meat jun, and all were really good, flavor all there. What really stood out to me was their fish jun. Ohmygosh so delicious! I saw this place on social media and had to try it. I took my wife to check it out, it's located in a mall, next to Kamehameha highway, with other competitors. We sat down and was greeted right away, with a menu options. The atmosphere was pleasant and not too noisy other than the workers and owners speaking Korean amongst themselves. My wife ordered the seafood soup spicy and I ordered the Kalbi/ meat jun special. While waiting the servicer brought the banchan(Korean side dishes), and utensils. When the meals arrived, I was disappointed by the portion size. What I mean is the price of the meal, doesn't match. The seafood soup was okay, not quite hot as other places. The Kalbi was delicious but the meat jun had no flavor, almost like eating card board. Overall, the food was okay. I've eaten other korean food around the area and this place disappointed me. The price was ridiculous and honestly I wouldn't be coming back soon. Sad to say.. Not recommended, go somewhere else. read more

Was on a Meat Jun Fix after having tried Seoul Food and have been trying to find meat jun just as good. My hubby heard about Jin Joo from a coworker that raves about it. So we tried it out last night. Food- We ordered the 1- Meat Jun and 2-Meat Jun/Fish Jun combo. It was alright. Meat was bland and not as thick as the other restaurants we tried. It definitely was better than Peppas or Yummys but I don't think I would go back to get Meat Jun. The portions were small. I asked for no rice since it's take out and they didn't give any extra of anything for giving up the rice. But who cares right?! Well this one meat Jun plate portion is definitely not shareable. My husband ate it by himself and if we shared I'm sure there wouldn't be enough. Normally we share a plate like how we did when we had Meat Jun from Seoul Food and Dong Yang. Their portions are huge and price is $1-2 cheaper. The veggies that came with the meat jun plate was so little. Not shareable at all. Luckily I had a pint size Kim chi left from Dong Yang that we ate with our meal here. Service- service was alright. Typical for a Korean or Asian restaurant so I don't expect much. But at least food was ready when I had called it in 15 mins prior to pick up. Sorry no pics. Forgot to take pics as I was disappointed. read more
