The take out waitress is very rude. I came on a Tuesday!!! A slow weekday and I am early in my pregnancy so I got a tempura roll to go and she almost trampled over me when I came to the door, she didn't even say excuse me or sorry and when I told her I had a to-go order she ignored me and finished bagging two orders and then asked me the name for my order...... I have never had such bad service in my life. For one I'm pregnant and for someone to walk so aggressively around you is very dangerous and rude! I would not recommend this place even to my worse enemy. To top it off I had to ask for soy sauce and hot sauce because it looks like I was suuuuuuch a big inconvenience for her that I was there for business thank god I checked the bag because I had a bad feeling and of course there was no soy sauce or hot sauce so I asked she handed them to me without saying one word. Do yourself a favor and if you're in Downey don't go here. I recommend Tokyo Garden and Kyoto Sushi. Much better food and much better service. This place does not care about customer relationships. This place is new to me and I really didn't know anything about it until I looked up places on Yelp. I have to say this place looks very busy and for good reasons too. This place has absolutely tasty sushi and the service is terrific. There's quite some variety to choose from and they also serve edamame two ways. The staff is very precautious by wearing face shields and gloves and now you are able to eat inside. This place feels comfortable and you most definitely feel welcome. I personally ordered the lobster sushi and it was delicious and has a bit of a kick. The super Philadelphia roll is very good too although I've never had it with asparagus, the way they serve it here. To finish off the rainbow roll is a must because it kind of gives you a different taste because it includes different types of fish and it's stuffed with other good tasting ingredients. read more

BEST SUSHI PLACE EVER!!! Me and my boyfriend eat here regularly and it's always a pleasant experience. You can tell their servers, cooks and the rest of their staff are really attentive to customers and connecting with them. Whenever we come here we're always greeted and sat down right away with a smile (despite the masks you can still feel their positive energy!). The sushi here is also really tasty and priced well. Personally I don't eat sushi, so my review will be primarily based on everything else. I love bento boxes. My main reason for visiting sushi places is to get a yummy bento box with all of its goodies. This places bento boxes have been my favorite. The chicken teriyaki is so good, the chicken literally melted in my mouth it was so soft and tender. I also get the bulgogi which is a great touch. I can't wait to try everything else on the bento boxes. I also love getting tempura here. The bento boxes are perfectly filling too. The place can get packed so patience is needed but well worth it. It also helps that they have an amazing deal on sake being 99 cents! It can't get better than that. My third time here. First time 5 star service and 5 star quality food! Second visit, 3 stars at best! The good looked and tasted different, long waiting time, but so impressed with the first time, we went back again hoping it was a fluke!! Today, 0 stars for food and service! We waited at every turn!! No apology for the delay from the waitresses! There is a young man with outstanding personality, you'll know when you get there who he is, he's the manager, probably the only reason anyone returns! They messed up our order, brought the wrong roll, then the replacement roll was half ass, missing toppings, 30 mins later they try bringing the replacement roll again! We were there over 2 1/2 hours, most of the time waiting on food, drinks! Ridiculous! To top things off, the owner decides to add an automatic gratuity to the bill because according to her, that's "her place" policy!! As though her place is exempt from California law! She has to post her automatic gratuity on her menu, she can't just slap it on your bill! They total your bill and then with a marker they cross out your total and handwrite in the auto gratuity to have it pass as a tip and make the employee pay for it! Tips are taxable to the employee. The employer is completely responsible for taxes owed on auto gratuity! So that's her way around it! I'll be reporting her to the IRS and labor board!! It's the principle of the matter! I got charged $20 for $1's worth of service!! When I approached her, she said "Oh you don't want to pay tip!" I said that's NOT a tip, it's a service charge and service was non-existent during our visit!! read more
