I am really not trying to be mean. I don't know why this restaurant has such high reviews. My girlfriends and I all ordered omelettes, which tasted like plastic. A different waitress delivered our food, so we had to wait for our waitress to come back to ask for salt, pepper and hot sauce. Our waitress wasn't very friendly and with 50 percent capacity, I am confused why she seemed overwhelmed when they seemed over staffed. And it was FREEZING in the restaurant. Cold air blowing which made for an even more unenjoyable experience. So disappointed the frog pond next door was closed, as that was our first choice by far. Way friendlier staff and FRESH food. I've been to Jine's several times over the past year. The location is fantastic and if you're lucky enough to be there during good weather, outdoor seating is always a good option. I've always had fast and friendly service, so no complaints! Unfortunately, I just haven't had any above average meals there. I usually just have breakfast there and between French Toast, Pancakes and a simple Eggs and Toast meal, nothing has stood out. The last time I had Eggs and Toast, my raisin toast was stale. This place seems to be a staple for Park Ave lovers, but I just haven't had a great meal yet here. I won't give up though and hopefully I'll find some other menu items that taste great! read more

Came to this restaurant to have brunch with my aunt. First and foremost, love the location of this restaurant. So many authentic, traditional buildings which truly shows the character of Rochester. I ordered the crab cake Benedict with a mimosa. I had high expectations because I am from Baltimore, Maryland and came to visit my aunt. Crab cakes are a big thing in MD. A favorite amongst Rochestarians, the tasteful Jines Restaurant is one I very much recommend. I went out for a nice Friday brunch, and was greeted by the staff with politeness and kindness. When I sat down, I was overwhelmed with the amount of delicious looking entrees on the menu. After numerous refills on my water from stress drinking about what I wanted, I decided on the fan favorite eggs Benedict with a side of pancakes. This is something I get for breakfast a lot, but Jines opened my eyes and tastebuds to a new world of deliciousness, as it was the best eggs Benedict and pancakes I have ever had the pleasure to eat. Jines is one of those places where "everybody knows your name!" We have her coming to Jines for years, and the food and service are consistently excellent! The hummos here us probably the BEST hummos I have ever eaten, and it's gotten to the point to when the server comes to our table, he/she immediately asks, " Hummos?!" Peter Jines runs one of the most enjoyable restaurants in the area, and he takes his time and special care to get to know his customers and their "needs..." The servers are warm and friendly, and extremely efficient, and, as I said, the food is constantly good. .. What a sad experience. This was my second time here and we ordered regular dinner than sandwiches and it was a huge mistake. Tomato basil soup had no taste of basil and the canned tomatoes were obvious. Shrimp pasta was bland and overlooked. The flavors were monotonous and had no touch of sauce. It was like boiled pasta and sauce were just mixed together without any heed to flavor. Not going again. read more

I've been going to Jines for years now. The food is consistent. We love the omelettes and the the night shifter is pretty good. But I think they should update their menu to explicitly list the prices or the staff should let you know that adding an extra topping will $$. We had an issue and asked at the front with our bill and the manager did not offer any help. I was disappointed about this. :( read more

I thought Jines was great. It reminded me of Panos in Buffalo if anyone has been there, but better. Large menu, diner-ish, reasonable prices, big portions and a really kind staff. Came by at 1:30 on a Friday afternoon to meet my Grandma for lunch and when I arrived the host immediately recognized me and asked how many were in my party. The place was pretty full and I peeked into the dining room, saw my Grandma in a booth and headed over. The menu was large and they had an insert of specials that was surprisingly lengthy as well. Our waitress was sweet as could be and was attentive and informative about the menu. We both went with the jerk chicken salad special which was spicy jerk grilled chicken over a mixture of iceberg lettuce and a spring mix with raw broccoli, walnuts, orange wedges and tomatoes with your choice of dressing. They have 19 different salad dressing choices which is wild. The jerk chicken was delicious spicy and cooked really well. The salads came out in no more than 15 minutes which was nice. I thought it was reasonably priced considering the portions. I finished my whole meal but most people would probably be able to wrap half up and take it home. Jones is in a prime location, it's casual, it's definitely a good option for any meal of the day. read more

I'm sitting here now, eating breakfast and getting some work done on my laptop. This is one of my favorite places to have breakfast, and its always delicious, but today I'm actually here by myself and am seated in a space where I can see everything from the hostess station, to the dining room, to the server station in the back. Being in the industry myself, this is pretty fun to watch the operation so I decided to comment. 1. The staff is professional and extra friendly at the door. There is a very welcoming vibe and energy the staff has with the families and variety of people that patron here. ie. Hi I'm "Jessica" - its so nice to meet you! Is a greeting I heard at one of the tables.. 2. The servers are professional, working hard, helping each other, respectful of each other and service is prompt and thorough. 3. The coffee is mediocre at best, but hey, its a diner and was properly refilled each time I got halfway through my cup! 4. I ordered the Park Berkley omelette- without the hollandaise sauce.. delicious and plentiful! Despite the relatively full restaurant, it came to me within 10 minutes - great timing and kudos to the kitchen. 5. Should always comment on cleanliness, it is clean in the front and clean in the server station at the back. The floor is free of debris and same with the counter tops. I'm seeing people wipe surfaces as they work. Great job guys! read more

Jine's is a Park Ave landmark and I went by it literally hundreds of times before finally stopping in for breakfast with my wife. It was a beautiful day and we got to sit outside and enjoy the ambiance of the neighborhood, which is awesome. Service was quick, friendly and efficient despite the fact that they were very full. We had their wild mushroom and blue cheese omlet, which we both picked from their very extensive breakfast menu... And we both agreed: it was the best we ever had! I'd give them five stars, but that doesn't seem appropriate after one visit--we're definitely going back though! read more

Great breakfast place! I love Jines! Their breakfast is affordable and always delicious. Their Belgian Waffles are everything and in the summer their outdoor sitting overlooking Park Ave is great for people watching. Their menu is very diverse and their waitstaff has been around for a long time so they are familiar with the offerings. Their lunch and dinner is also very good. This morning I had the breakfast enchilada with a side of hash browns. I was very disappointed when it came out because it wasn't at all what I was expecting, when I think of enchiladas. It was a flat peta with cheese and meat sauce, similar to a 'fiestada' or the 'Mexican pizzas' I was served in grade school and it tasted the same. To give it the breakfast spin, they put two soft boiled eggs on top of it. Definitely not worth the $7.95 it cost. Should have gone to an elementary school and paid $1.50 for one instead. Went during a lunch rush in the middle of the week. I had breakfast, eggs Benedict, and the person I was with had a gyro. Service was good and the food was hot and had great flavor. The eggs were done perfectly and their tzatziki sauce was thick and awesome! We love this place. Give this place a try if you aren't sure what you want, they have plenty on the menu. Jine's is the perfect place for breakfast or lunch. All of their breakfast dishes are stellar... especially the Eggs Michael. Their lunch menu is good but somewhat limited. It consists of your standard sandwiches with a few Greek twists here and there. The only downfall is their service. It's a little like Russian Roulette with what server you get stuck with. Some are very attentive and good, others are scattered and forgetful. We have had servers who are constantly checking in and then we have had servers who, after we have requested something like ketchup, disappear out the side door for a cigarette and never follow through. All in all, Jine's is my favorite breakfast spot in Rochester. It's affordable and located in a great part of town. If you get lucky with a good server, this place is amazing. The remodel has really improved this place, much easier and more comfortable with the new seating. I've been here many times for breakfast and dinner since moving down the street from Jines. Most of the time it's good service and great food, but my last two visits are causing me to step away for a while. My last two visits have been plagued by very long wait times due to twice being passed over by the hostesses. I don't know why I have been overlooked and people who have come long after I first arrived were seated before me, but I was not amused. The food has always been great. I love the eggs and corned beef hash for breakfast, but when I have to wait 40 minutes just to be seated, the food tastes a little less flavorful. Okay. With my frustration out of the way, I can say that the serving staff has always been good, and the cooks have always been great. The food is one place that I can't complain about. I would still recommend Jines to friends and family, but I am going to take some time exploring some of the many other great restaurants on Park Ave. read more

The reason I come here when i go back to the east coast is their eggplant(?) and olive oil hummus. It is so delicious that I've offered to pay for the recipe on several occasions. Came here for dinner during the Park Avenue open house. Though there was a bit of a wait, they gave us free samples of their spakonpita, champagne, vegetables with tzatziki sauce and their eggnog milkshake for the event. Tzatziki sauce was fabulous and their spakonpita was deliciously made. I went with the pork souvlaki with their beer-battered fries which was a signature item on their menu. The presentation of the meal looked wonderful. Beer-battered fries were fabulous and seasoned to perfection. However, the pork souvlaki was quite chewy despite its appearance not being overcooked. The tzatziki sauce was also very overpowering and quite cold in temperature in the sandwich. I ended up not finishing my sandwich and just brought ir home. I wish I could say I enjoyed the sandwich more since it was recommended as Jines classic but the meal was less to be desired. However, I did throughly enjoy in the fries and service was top-notch despite it being very busy. read more

We have been to Jines on numerous occasions and tonight was by far our worst experience ever. We were waiting to be seated a party of two. Three times the hostess passed us by for other parties of two. When I approached the hostess she said "I am waiting for a larger table for you." I was on Park Ave on a Sunday morning with a couple of friends, looking for somewhere to eat breakfast. We decided on Jine's on a whim. Good music was playing through the speakers, the interior decor was nice, and the menu was extensive. I ordered a vanilla cappuccino and a bacon and cheese omelette. The cappuccino was watery and bland. The omelette was flavorless and dry, until you cut into the center where all the cheese was smooshed together in a greasy blob. Friend #1 ordered a mushroom omelette - same story. Friend #2 ordered a chocolate malt and chicken tenders with BBQ sauce. The waitress, who was rude from the beginning, brought him a chocolate milk instead of a malt. When he tried to politely explain the mistake she rolled her eyes, let out a loud sigh, grabbed the milk and left. She brought back the chicken tenders with cocktail sauce instead of BBQ. She had been so rude that my friend didn't want to bother asking for the correct sauce. He ended up taking his tenders home with him, rather than risk further upsetting the waitress. The Chicken tenders were actually battered and fried chicken breasts, not tenders. Tenders are made from the long, thin tenderloin of the chicken, which runs parallel to the breast and has a very different taste and texture. That aside the chicken was okay, but certainly not worth its inflated price. The tables in the larger dining area are very close together, so you're right up against your fellow diners. This also makes it difficult for waitstaff to move from table to table without knocking into the backs of chairs. All in all, Jine's looks good at first glance, but it's not worth the time or money. read more

This place reminds me of eating in a fancy hotel. The atmosphere was very good but the unique food selection was what really made this restaurant stand out. The menu selection gives a wide variety and more unique take on breakfast than your typical restaurant. The prices were a little high for the amount of food were a little high in comparison to what you would get at a typical place, but the non standard plain pancakes and eggs breakfast was well worth it. Service was standard and the choice to sit outside on Park Avenue makes for a very European experience. Overall a unique change from the standard breakfast but I would call it an every once in a while place. read more
