One line review: Would give this 3.5 if that were an option. We had heard about this place before but didn't get there until recently. We were able to be seated at the outdoor table (I think there's just one). We ordered: - the Magnificent Seven xiao long bao (colourful, with each colour representing a different flavour) - siu mai - ha gao - sticky rice - bbq pork roll (their version of mu shu pork) All of these were well-executed -- very tasty and a beautiful. We got a deal on some of the dumplings and the sticky rice because it was happy hour, and that was a good thing. The food was very clean tasting and well-seasoned but a bit pricey in my view. Value is only so-so. Service was attentive. Parking was a surprisingly affordable dollar an hour on Robson. Bottom line: This was good, and we enjoyed ourselves. After walking hours at Stanley Park in the rain, I was ready for lunch but unfortunately a lot of places that we had originally planned to eat at were closed during those hours. Luckily we stumbled upon Jingle Bao and their advertisement of the rainbow xiao long bao sold me. It wasn't busy when we went and the place is decorated so cute. I love the little xiao long bao light buddies on each table to dine with. The food was so delicious. I love the fried chicken. Not too salty or too black peppery. It was the right balance between everything. The xiao long bao was good and pretty and each had a unique flavor depending on the color so I adore that they weren't the same filling with difference color dumpling wraps. It's a Tuesday evening before Remembrance Day and hubby made reservations for 2 to try them out. Didn't realize they have parking in the back until we got there. It was a quiet evening. We had to write down 1 contact info (name and phone #) as soon as we entered. The staff came up quickly and had us seated. We were pleasantly greeted by the cute little glowing xiao long bao (XLB) on our table. Each table had one (pink or yellow). That ambiance was nice, spacious, bright, modern and clean. There were menus to look at, no QR code. My hubby did all the ordering as he loves XLB. The rainbow soup dumplings are my favourite! Red is spicy. Green is spinach. Yellow is shrimp. Brown is mushroom. Beige is traditional XLB. The traditional XLB was really good and reminded me when we were in Shanghai couple years ago. The deep fried vegetarian roll is really crispy! Perfection. The deep fried squid, it was missing salt but it was a a bit spicy for me to eat. It was good but probably wouldn't order again as per hubby. The Sichuan wonton and noodles was for my hubby. He said it had too much sauce. He loves spicy but he didn't finish it. We would definitely come back to try other items. Being located downtown, it's a little out of the way from where I live and there are tons of dim sum places along the way that are really good so I had high expectations. What intrigued me were photos of their colorful XLBs which they are known for. We called in and made a reservation that day. They don't have a huge menu selection which they could probably add to but we already knew what we were going to order. We ordered their signature magnificent seven and classic supersize xiao long bao. Presentation wise, they looked insta worthy but the quality and taste was ok. I guess I've been spoiled eating a lot of good dim sum in Richmond. Parking would be easiest on Eihu lane and just walk a block. I honestly think it's worth checking them out once to see what you think but I would probably pick another place to try over coming back again in the future. read more

After reading several great reviews about this place I thought it would be a good idea to visit as the place is close to Chinatown in Vancouver. Unfortunately I wasn't too pleased with the food here and the dishes were quite dirty. Coming in to the restaurant I was asked to wait to be seated which was fine. After getting seated we were given some hot tea that was extremely dilute and wasn't great to start off the meal. They have utensils laid out on the side but they were stained with food from previous customers which was disappointing. As we received our food, the XLB here was also quite disappointing, I could be biased as I have eaten at Din Tai Fung multiple times and have also ate XLB in Taiwan, however the quality here simply wasn't it. The classic XLB was decent but the other flavors were mediocre at best. I ordered the signature 7 and the other flavors while they did contain the flavors advertised were poorly implemented. The spicy one for example simply was the classic XLB injected with some chili oil. Garlic's flavor was overpowering and wasn't pleasing. All the other flavors were similarly disappointing. Moving on to the supersized bao, I expected it to be what the name entails, a supersized XLB containing plenty of both meat and soup inside. However it was mainly just a soup in the spicy version which contains an excessive amount of chili oil and little to no meat content. Overall, I did not enjoy the visit to this location and would not be recommending it to others. The food was mediocre and the silverware was stained. read more

This place is cute but a little gimmicky. They specialize in colourful xiao long baos and their supersize xiao long baos. We ordered their signature magnificent seven ($15) and crab xiao long bao ($18). They were really pretty for pictures but the taste did not match how good they look. The crab xiao long bao was kinda bland and we could not taste the crab in it. The colourful ones each had a distinct flavour. They were unique to try for the experience but I wouldn't order them again. I went to Wang's Shanghai Cuisine the day before and their xiao long bao tasted fresher and was cheaper. DELICIOUS! Five Stars Ate there this afternoon and it lived up to the hype for sure. Waited about 10 minutes to get in and it was worth the wait. When we were sat down the table was ready with our water, tea, menus and colouring pages and crayons for the two children we had with us. I love that little extra bit of service. Dumplings came out quickly and deliciously. Both of our kids 4&5 each ate the Rainbow Soup dumplings. They liked each of the dumpling flavours (minus the spicy). We also shared the classic soup dumplings, truffle mushroom dumplings, ha gow and the Crystal crab and shrimp dumplings. Every single bite was perfection "chefs kiss". The music was loud and fun. It's like the best karaoke playlist of songs. We loved it. The staff was wonderful and the man who I believe is the owner was fantastic. This spot was so good! Asian fusion restaurant specializing in artfully done dim sum! Staff was overall nice and the restaurant was very clean and welcoming. My friends and I tried a lot off of the menu and it was all good! My favorite was the dessert, Phoenix buns (egg custard buns). We also tried the Pandan bun with some meat filling in it, crab XLB, and the 7 different XLB (the pretty colorful XLB platter). The only ones we didn't like were the brown and red colour ones as the truffle was too much for us. The chicken dumplings were absolutely smashing. Must have when you are here. The crystal shrimp dumplings were a miss for us. It was too sticky and dry for us. I would have loved to explore the menu but we were full! Going back there soon to try other things. Great service with unique food! They are a spot with such unique baos to choose from that you'll be left wondering where this has been all our life. We came in to try the giant soup dumpling but also tried their rainbow coloured dumplings too. Each one had a different filling and it was fun trying each one. We are big fans of Xiao Long Baos. Din Tai Fung being the best in our opinion. We have tried Dinesty a few times and since we had not visited Vancouver since before covid, we decided to give this new place a shot. The variety and different colored baos brought us in. We ended up being very disappointed unfortunately. We are used to having a sauce made from soy, rice vinegar, ginger and hot chili oil to dip them in and compliment the dumpling. The only option here was soy sauce. No options to enhance the experience. We tried the sampling of all the colorful baos and all were pretty gross. Especially the green one which I think is spinach? Except one. The red one which was spicy. It was delicious! So delicious I asked to order them like you would the regular baos. I wanted a bunch of them! But no. Sorry, that's not possible. What!? Man.. so disappointed. It's their best one, the most flavorful and one of the spiciest things I have ever ate in Canada. And over the years of visiting and briefly living there, that's one thing that was constantly missing; spice. And overall flavor really. I guess Canadians just aren't into it. By far, the best part of the meal was the rice. It was really good. The cucumber salad completely threw is off as we expected a sweet and spicy marination on it but it came with what I think was tonkatsu sauce or plum sauce? Not sure. In February when I came to Vancouver, I had spent my morning hiking Stanley Park and I got caught in the rain multiple time throughout the day so when it was lunch time, I was ravenous. The bus drove by this cute neighborhood and I wanted to explore and stumbled upon Jingle Bao in it's bright yellow exterior. It was a later lunch time so it was pretty empty, but the cute interior made me feel like I stepped into a version of Hufflepuff world. Our orders came out pretty fast, of course I got the rainbow xiao long bao. I loved the different flavors, the green one tasted like a vegetable soup my mom makes but in dumpling form! I like the mushroom brown one too was simple but had a cozy warm feeling. I think the other flavors were spicy, shrimp, and regular. All tasted like some form of parents' nostalgic cooking. The braised beef was soft and chewy. I was especially looking forward to this because I was still pretty damp from the rain and freezing. The popcorn chicken was a great addition too! Ok. I admit ads work on me. I saw the Yelp ad and decided that funny colored XLB was on food agenda. I decided to go with the classic XLB, which met expectations. Im surprised it was not crowded inside when I went on a Saturday afternoon though I noticed a lot of delivery/takeaway traffic. Called ahead for reservations for a party of 5. There is a limited happy hour menu (beer/wine, no xlbs). Anyway, we were all impressed with the tasty soup dumplings and the super reasonable prices! My favourites were the mushroom truffle and classic xlbs! Service is attentive too! I was pleasantly blown away! I agree that its better than DTF and even Dinesty. Super nice folks but the similar menued 9 dumplings hidden down Robson just blows the doors of this so badly I cannot score it higher in good conscience. I feel this is a business worth supporting but when I think abut it, I think about standing on the cold street for an hour waiting and finding the flavours a bit flat. We visited this restaurant while we were in Vancouver. It's right next to a bunch of bike rental shops. We went before biking at Stanley Park, and it was a great experience! The staff were super nice! All of the tables were full, but they let us sit on the bar stools right away. They were quite busy, but we still got our food quickly. We had a good view of the person making the baos by hand from the barstool. Each table had a light-up bao toy. It changes colors when you tap on it. Our was broken, so they swapped it with a working one and let us have the broken one! They gave our kid a coloring page with crayons, which kept her entertained. They had quite a few unique dishes. The different colored xiao long baos, and the large soup bao with a straw. Each color was a different flavor (spicy pork, regular pork, spinach/cheese, truffle). While I have tasted better xiao long baos, they tasted very good. I liked how they all had soup inside. The food tasted authentic, and it didn't feel like a tourist trap. Highly recommend this place! Our family love XLB and this place stole our heart. From making reservations, arrival to finish, we were treated with so much care. Our server was excellent, attentive, and she made us feel special, even with the younger ones. She offered my three rascals some crayons and paper while waiting for the food to arrive. The decor is clean and minimal, but the huge attraction was those little table lamps that shaped like baos! The menu was small but all great, fun food. We ordered a couple baskets of the traditional XLB, that is made fresh in an open dumpling station, the xtra large XLB, siu mai, har gouw, crystal dumplings, coconut prawns, salt n pepper chicken for the younger boys and garlicky squids. Everything came out pretty quickly. The XLB got a thin skins and hold up all of the soups inside. I can't say anything bad about everything we ordered. Everything tasted really fresh and flavorful! My favorite other than the XLB was the crystal dumpling. Beautiful presentation of a very humble potstickers, the sauce and the edible flowers was a nice touch. The Xtra large XLB was a lot of fun: it came with a tiny straw to sip the soup and a tiny pipette filled with chinese vinegar. We are definitely coming back soon and spreading the words! Who can resist colorful XLB?! Or massive XLB for that matter?! This place is a dumpling lover's dream. Eric C and I made a reservation for a weekday at lunch, but it wasn't needed because it was pretty quiet. We opted to share the Magnificent Seven, an order of the truffle XLB, and a super-sized XLB each. They were all delicious. I think the super-sized XLB is definitely a showstopper (and you've gotta get the photos), but I don't think I'd get it again. It's basically like a very large skin with soup in it. The normal-sized XLB were such a treat. I loved that the rainbow XLB were each different flavors. They have happy hour in the afternoons with reduced food prices, which was interesting of a Chinese restaurant. We got there a little too early to take advantage of that. Cute decor and happy staff offer up a variety of different soup dumplings, as well as dimsum dishes and other asian fare. For this review, I'm going to focus on the super-sized soup dumpling. You might have seen these beauties on Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, etc. It's a dream come true for anyone who enjoys slurping up all the soup goodness of a well made soup dumpling. I gave the spicy version a go and my oh my. It was exactly what I had in mind when ordering it. I stabbed a straw into that baby and went to town. It tasted like a delicious soup dumpling with the added complexity of spiciness. And it was FUN! For $9, it's not cheap. However, I'm told these can be found at higher prices elsewhere. So, this is a deal by comparison. Okay, I was only gonna review the big chungus of an XLB, but I also have to give some love to their black truffle mushroom soup dumplings. Umami is an overused term these days, but these reflect what umami is in every sense of the word. It makes your mouth water. It hits all the senses and I loved them.
