10/10 experience, I've had this place bookmarked for a while from TikTok and decided to have a birthday dinner here. The ambience alone is a 10/10, everything is clean and modern. It's perfect for a work meeting, an intimate/large dinner, and even date night.We liked that there was indoor/outdoor seating, and regular tables but also tucked away booths for more privacy. The menu alone is pretty extensive, and I will say they are focused on presentation. Most things we ordered came with a mini presentation, or photo op. BUT it wasn't overbearing or annoying. I was excited to finally try JINYA after seeing all of their happy hour promotions on TikTok and social media. The marketing definitely worked... we specifically came in for happy hour to sample a few items before deciding if it would become a place we'd return to regularly. When we arrived, we were told that happy hour is only available at the bar and on the patio, and both were full. The hostess was very nice and offered to seat us in the dining room if we ordered regular-priced food and one drink at the bar for happy hour price. I asked if we could simply reverse that, order happy hour food while paying full price for our drinks. It seemed like a reasonable compromise. We were already willing to order additional regular-priced food, and restaurants generally make strong margins on beverages, so it felt like everyone would still come out ahead. Unfortunately, the answer was no. A bar manager came over and reiterated that they couldn't make an exception. I explained that it was disappointing because this was our first visit, and we had come specifically because of their social media promotion. Had we enjoyed the food, we likely would have become repeat customers. The manager then offered to "take care of us" with drinks, but only from the limited happy hour drink menu. I don't drink those cocktails and asked if there was any flexibility, such as a martini, but was told that wasn't possible either. What made the experience even more frustrating was that the dining room was almost completely empty. There were plenty of available tables, so this wasn't an issue of capacity, it was simply a refusal to make a small accommodation for first-time guests. I completely understand that restaurants have policies, and I respect the need for consistency. But great hospitality is also about knowing when a small exception can create a loyal customer. We were happy to pay full price for drinks and additional food, we simply wanted the opportunity to try a couple things from the happy hour menu that brought us in. Instead, we left disappointed and ended up spending our money elsewhere. It's unfortunate because the experience made us much less likely to return. read more

What an amazing dinner at JINYA! Being our first time, the hostess took us on a quick tour of the dry aged meats & seafood showcase and wine selections. We were then seated at a lovely outdoor table. Our server went over the vast menu, including a pre-fixed option which she explained would provide a nice overall experience. But my husband being the constant carnivore, I brought him to JINYA for the live wood and charcoal fired meats. He chose "From the Land" the 16oz Dry-Aged Ribeye Steak while I chose "From the Sea" the 10oz Miso Chilean Sea Bass. These items from the "Live Fire Grill" take approximately 25 minutes to prepare so we chose a couple starters to pass the time -- Potato Mochi Balls and Spicy Creamy Shrimp. Both were wonderfully tasty. They set the tone for everything that came afterwards. Every dish came out meticulously prepared and impressively delicious in every way! The husband enjoyed the small experiences in the ponzu dropper with the sushi roll, and the melting of the shallot butter after his steak was carved tableside. The highlights were the selections from the grill -- the flavors were ah-mazing! Truly the best Chilean Sea Bass I've had anywhere. The Ribeye was melt-in-your-mouth tender and just incredible with the melted butter and roasted garlic. Although we were already quite full, we couldn't leave without having dessert. My partner brought me here for my birthday, and I have to say I really enjoyed the experience. I've been to many of the other Jinya restaurants, but this one is so elegant and has such a high end fine dining vibe. A beautiful bar with craft cocktails, dry aged fine meats, a fully transparent kitchen with a custom fire grill. The menu is fairly expansive with some classic Japanese dishes and new twists as well as a full sushi/sashimi menu. We had the most special celebration at JINYA last night to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. The food was incredible and our kids couldn't stop raving about how it was the most delicious meal we had ever had. Went here for the first time today. Arguably the best happy hour in LA, 5-6:30pm. Tremendous value on both cocktails and food - almost half their normal price. Do not sit outside unless you want to smell cigarette smoke for half your dinner. We came here for dinner this past weekend and were seated on the patio. The ambiance was great at first, but shortly after our appetizers arrived, we started smelling cigarette smoke. It would come and go throughout a large portion of the meal. When we asked about it, the staff confirmed that the designated smoking area is located right next to the outdoor dining section. Honestly, it's a terrible setup for a restaurant where people are trying to enjoy their food. The servers were kind, apologetic, and empathetic. Unfortunately, the manager handled the situation very differently. After multiple complaints, we were never offered another table. Instead, she told us she had stepped outside and didn't smell any smoke at that moment. That was frustrating to hear when we had been dealing with cigarette smoke on and off for much of our dinner. Had the issue been acknowledged and handled differently, this review probably wouldn't exist. But the lack of accommodation and unwillingness to take our concerns seriously left a much bigger impression than the food itself. The food was fine, but nothing particularly memorable. In Weho, there are plenty of Japanese restaurants offering similar dishes, better service, and a better overall dining experience for the same price point. read more

Our experience at this restaurant was completely ruined by an employee named Thompson. From the moment my friend and I interacted with him, we were treated with disrespect and a rude attitude. Instead of providing even basic customer service, he made us feel like we were an inconvenience and spoke to us in an unprofessional manner. There is no excuse for treating paying customers this way. We left feeling frustrated and disappointed, and it completely changed what should have been an enjoyable meal. If this is how customers are treated, management seriously needs to address it. We had about 3 different people come up to our table just to check in and make sure we were okay. 10/10 no notes here -- great team. The drinks were amazing. There was not one food item that we actually enjoyed and we ordered 6 different things. The crispy potatoes are unseasoned air fried potatoes with a side of aoli. The eggplant was mushy with a pool of sauce that tasted like egg it was very odd. The whipped cauliflower special was flavorless. All sushi rolls were bland. While the ambiance is nice, service was great and even drinks were great, I can't think of one reason to dine here again. If every meal I ate tasted like that I'd be as skinny as Bella Hadid. The food here is amazing! You can tell as you walk in that the establishment pays attention to every detail. I ordered the Shizuku Breeze melon cocktail and was really pleased with how the flavors all come together. For the entree, I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and I cannot express how well they were able to get the fish to be perfectly flakey yet juicy at the same time while cooked with a live fire grill. I came here with a party of 10 and had a really disappointing experience at JINYA West Hollywood. The food came out extremely inconsistently, and it took about two hours for everything to finally arrive. By the time the rest of the food came out, we weren't even hungry anymore. Some items were completely forgotten, and we ended up canceling part of our order because the timing was so bad. On top of that, items we didn't order were added, and when we brought it up, it felt like they made it seem like it was our fault. The whole situation became awkward and completely killed the vibe of the meal. Honestly, you get better service at The Cheesecake Factory. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience, and I would not recommend this location. read more
