I can totally see why this company consistently gets 5 stars. So, our AC goes out last weekend 95-100 degrees - we didn't need to use it until then so we turn it on and.....no bueno. We suffer through the weekend then I call JJ because the next Livermore heat is coming. I wanted a local place because I thought proximity would help. It did. I called at 1:30 and they had a technician assigned to arrive between 2-4. They send a text message with a picture of the technician and a link where you can track his progress in an Uber like map. Very cool. Tyler arrived and he started systematically diagnosing our system. During the diagnosis he clearly explained what was going on and how he was going to systematically look at failures. He was also very tolerant of our inquisitive cat. Long story short - our AC is back up. He walked me through the repair costs and cautioned us about the age of our AC and furnace system - not in a salesy way but very consultative. We are very happy with the entire JJ experience and would, of course, recommend them again. read more

We used JJ's last month for an AC repair and it was working fine until two weeks ago and now it's stopped working. Last month, we bought maintenance check ups (doesn't seem like we will be refunded or given the chance to use these check ups as we cannot get in touch with anyone from the business). We've been actively trying to reach out for the last two weeks to inquire about a repair however, we are met with no response through their social media channels, email, text, calls, and Yelp inquiry. I drove by the office in Pleasanton. However it looks like the office is closed and cannot see into the windows. All of the service vehicles seem to be parked outside collecting dust. The HVAC continued to heat even though I set it in the cooling mode. Couldn't figure out the issue, so called JJ heating. The technician Tyler spent 1.5 hours, going up to the roof of our four floor apartment trying to find out what was wrong, and back - 3-4 times. After meticulous work, Tyler found out that it was a loose connection in the thermostat. The fee was $20 for diagnostics + level-1 labor charge of $300. I will hire JJ again for their excellent tech work and for their interactions where they are patient enough to explain / answer my questions. The fees may look high but is lower than the median price. It is important to hire qualified technicians to do such repairs even if their prices are high. read more

Dominic comes right on-time, and provided very professional consultancy on the Furnance low performance issue. He walked me through all the potential aspects on troubleshooting this issue, and checked one by one from the circuit board, to filter then to the crawlspace duct work. He also provided suggestion on the size of the furnace not matching the house and explained the reasoning of zone-based setup in our house, which I have never heard from other service provider before. They installed a heat pump for me last summer and as part of the installation, they agree to come back in 12 months to service the equipment. They also promised to extend the warranty as long as you keep a maintenance plan with them. I'm about 1-2 months overdue on the annual service I'm owed but can't I get in touch with them. Over the last few weeks I've called about 5 times, left 3 voicemails, sent emails, texts, and even used the yelp request a quote feature and still haven't heard back from them. I'm honestly starting to wonder if they went out of business. Very frustrating and disappointing given that my interactions with them last year were great. I can no longer recommend this business. Been a terrible experience with this company. I had a heat pump installed in February of this year by them. The permit is still outstanding! The city has sent numerous requests asking for more information. Even though the company gets the same notice from the city, I would share the email from the city with Oscar in their office. Several times, with a reply from Oscar, that he will work on it "today". One to two months later, the city says nothing has been done since their emails. I get no response from the install manager either. Yesterday, I spoke with Steve, who claims to be a manager there and he was supposed to get back to me yesterday afternoon. NOTHING. The above are just a few of the problems I've had with them! If you have nothing to do, but make many many phone calls, and don't mind the headaches, then hire this company. if you want a smooth install, and don't like headaches, go some where else. They leave me no option but to get a lawyer. read more

Dominic came at the beginning of the 12-2 pm window, which I appreciated. He was professional, totally competent at his work, and polite. I think the $19.95 diagnostic fee is incredibly fair nowadays, and he actually worked quite a long time to check everything out! He was very clear in explaining options for repair of my ancient 1975 furnace, which had a faulty circuit board, and I appreciated that he had made a real effort to track down a replacement circuit board. He found one. The circuit board plus labor to install it was going to be more expensive than I thought, so I held off on service at this time. I can still use the furnace, but I have to manually unplug the blower when it's done warming up my house because the circuitboard is failing to turn it off automatically. I will call JJ Heating from now on for dealing with this old furnace and whatever heating system I eventually get to replace it. read more

We had the BEST experience today with JJ heating and air. After calling several HVAC companies, we could not find one that knew how to work on a condominium HVAC. We have been going back and forth with one HVAC company for a few months and they couldn't find the parts or figure out what was wrong. We saw JJ Heating and Air van in my mom's complex so we decided to give them a try. I called them this morning at about 9 am and they had a technician out to my mother's condo in San Ramon by 2 pm the same day. They sent out a technician by the name of Sabino and he was AMAZING!! He was so knowledgeable, honest, patient and kind with my mother. He fixed her HVAC once and for all! She is extremely happy and she finally has heat for this cold month and now A/C for the summer. I requested service for my heater as it kept turning on and off. They couldn't come out on Friday when I called, but their next available was Monday morning. They couldn't come technician showed up and did an analysis of what was wrong. He thoroughly explained the codes he was getting on the analysis and showed me everything through a thoughtful explanation. Not a good experience at all...A business is usually judged on if a customer would want to use them again--and believe me, I would not use J&J Heating ever again. After signing my initial contract, the salesman hit me with a substantial additional bill, due to HIS ERROR. When I questioned him on it, he sent me a text saying I would not be billed for that error. Once I get my final bill, I WAS billed the additional charge. So, I called the comapny, and the salesman was rude and the charge stayed. I then talked with the install manager, and even though I sent him a screenshot of the text about the no charge, he gaslighted me with, "well, I can see why you thought that, but that text meant no further ADDITIONAL CHARGES..." Very frustrated a company can just add additional charges, and not honor their word. read more

Decent pricing and a neighbor recommendations lead me to contact them. Poor communication and quality issues. An access door was cut in the sidr of my house/stucco so I and they could have better access to my crawl space. Rather than measure twice, cut once, they cut the hole too big which caused them to patch the stucco. They also had to order a smaller access door due to their error. The stucco patch is ugly and now I need to repaint the stucco. This was not planned and was bad on them. The moisture barrier installed in the crawl space was sloppy, but was corrected after I said something. They were supposed to come back to finish other insulation and no showed. Their office is not returning calls, Alan (Project Manager) phone is now disconnected. Would not recommend using them. read more

Who are these magical air-conditioning people? I have an odd-ball, out-of-production, HVAC unit from Mammoth. Basically, nobody services them anymore, including JJ. Nevertheless, Oscar Flores at JJ was super helpful and gave me great advice, including the proper jargon for identifying the technology in my HVAC (water-sourced heat pump) to avoid wasting time with vendors who are happy to send technicians only to cancel when they realize they don't know how to service them. He even tracked down one of the few people in the Bay Area who can fix a water-sourced heat pump and the only remaining parts supplier for my unit. And he did all that just because he realized I was freezing my butt off and I think he was a little sad his company couldn't help directly. In the language of my ancestors, Flores is real mensch. And if I didn't have this weirdo HVAC system, I'd hire JJ Heating every week and twice on Tuesday. read more
