The cabinets and walls needed a total refresh of paint, and all that new woodwork had tons of caulking/filling/sanding/priming etc to do. Then we needed new crown molding added to our half bath, and there were several sheetrock patches plus some ceiling cracks which needed good prepping and feathering in. Also, our front and back doors needed to be repainted. So - a lot of work! And I am picky about quality. I chose Austin Professional Painting because they seemed well organized, well qualified, and ready to go at a scale of enough workers that we could get back to living in the downstairs of our house in a reasonable amount of time. Their comfort with good quality paint was also a key factor in my choice. So: the guys who came out to do the work, Carlos and Ivan - plus another couple of guys on certain days, were very nice, polite, and extremely hard working. They did a very good job and I am satisfied with the work. I would hire Austin Professional Painters again (and probably will this fall when we get around to renewing the master bath), and I definitely recommend them. Fast forward to March 2026: as we began preparing for broader home renovations, we reconnected with them for an updated whole-house quote. After hiring a handyman to take care of minor repairs around the house, we were finally ready to paint by May. Because 21st Century is so popular with local school districts and commercial clients, their summer schedule fills up fast. However, they promised they could start our project in August during the first week of school, and they delivered right on schedule. Throughout the planning phase, they were incredibly responsive to all my questions and accommodating whenever I needed to update our project scope. When work began, the execution was incredible. They initially estimated the job would take between a week and a half to two weeks. For our nearly 3,200 sq. ft. home, we stayed at a nearby Airbnb expecting a longer process, but their team was so efficient they started on Monday and wrapped up completely by Saturday! The quality of work was outstanding, and their customer service is truly top-notch. As a self-proclaimed perfectionist, I was amazed when I did my initial walkthrough. There were only a few minor spots that needed touch-ups; everything else looked flawless. The owner, Gary, and project manager, Mike, maintained excellent communication and knew the exact status of the project at all times. The crew was courteous, respectful of our belongings, and made sure the house was securely locked up every day. During the final walkthrough, Gary personally ensured I was 100% satisfied and had the team address the few touch-up spots right on the spot. They were so appreciative of our flexibility with scheduling that they even brought a box of donuts to the final walkthrough! Our home literally feels brand new now, and we are so excited to enjoy it for years to come. I will definitely be hiring 21st Century for any future painting needs.

So, we developed an informal prospectus based on this assumption. Sometime later, we happened upon a poster advertising That 1 Painter, a licensed and bonded enterprise based in the Treasure Valley. Their reviews were strongly favorable and more so noteworthy was that T1P had been voted Best of Idaho twice (among many other plaudits)! So, when we were ready we contacted them with the intention that they would provide us with our first estimate. We were visited by Ruth Brinton, a professional house painter and owner of T1P. She presented well with confidence and comprehension. She looked at many things that we would have likely overlooked. She made many observations and shared her thoughts with us. She also looked at the property and made recommendations regarding colors to not only enhance the house, but also to optimize the use of colors that would give balance and compliment to the property on the whole. The next day, we received the detailed estimate for the job. We were stunned to learn that T1P would do the job for well below our most auspicious estimates! All the information we had gathered convinced us that we did not have need to solicit another estimate. Within a month's time (from initial contact) our house was very nicely and professionally cleaned, prepped and painted. The crew performing the work were polite, friendly and professional. They charged us $300 for a 1,509 sq ft house -- despite the fact that the home had brand-new blinds, brand-new flooring in all three bedrooms, and no refrigerator to clean. This was absolutely not a discounted or bargain price. Before hiring them, they specifically promised they would come back and address anything my realtor found unsatisfactory after the cleaning. Based on that promise, I paid them in full immediately after the service. A few days later, my realtor inspected the property and found the cleaning quality extremely poor. She provided them with a detailed list of areas that were still dirty. One toilet was so poorly cleaned that my realtor cleaned it herself. On another toilet, instead of properly scrubbing blue staining inside the toilet, they simply suggested replacing the whole toilet altogether. That alone tells you the level of effort they put into the job. The dishwasher was still dirty. Windows, baseboards, drawers, and other surfaces were visibly dirty. There were even cobwebs still hanging on the walls. When I contacted them to come back as promised, their attitude immediately changed. They were rude, dismissive, and kept delaying scheduling. I gave them my husband's number to coordinate a return visit, and they said the earliest they could come was Saturday (nearly a week later). Then on Saturday, they suddenly claimed they would not return unless someone was physically present at the house to inspect their work. This made absolutely no sense because they already knew the property was vacant and that we were remote landlords. They had completed the original cleaning using an access code with nobody present, so this was clearly just an excuse to avoid honoring their promise. After that, they stopped answering calls from both me and my husband entirely. The house was still dirty, and we ended up paying another cleaning company to redo the entire job properly. Unprofessional, dishonest, and extremely poor-quality work. I would strongly discourage anyone from using this company. Respond to the owner's response: you lied! (1) The toilet was totally cleanable. The second cleaner cleaned this toilet with no problem. It looks very clean now. But you even didn't try and simply asked me to buy a new toilet. What a moron. Another toilet shown in the picture showed how my realtor easily cleaned after you still left it dirty! (2) my husband said he didn't clearly agree to have someone come for you because your accent was strong and he couldn't clearly hear what you said. Simply not realistic for us to agree. When he called you, you also didn't tell him which day and time you could come back to clean the house either. Later when I called you to come back, I already explained to you why we couldn't have someone on the spot waiting for you because it was an empty house and we couldn't hire someone to wait for you there. You knew this already even before we let you clean our house at the beginning, because we gave you the house access code to come in and nobody was there! We told you our realtor would come a few days later to check and asked if you could come back to finish cleaning if she pointed out dirty places. You agreed which is why we gave you money to do it. Unfortunately we paid you in full on the same day you did the cleaning. So you can become a moron later. You simply didn't want to keep your own promise to come back to finish cleaning. You could simply say you would come back to finish cleaning what we pointed out and no more trips if my realtor found out more later. However you simply refused to answer our phone and disappeared! If you continue to lie in public here after causing us so much stress and financial loss by hiring a second cleaner, I will further seek related third party for help. I don't believe such a horribly bad company could lie like this in public.

While I had a basic idea of what I wanted, I debated getting a formal project manager to handle coordination of the full install. With a ton of experience doing this kind of install, Marcus helped out so much that I was pretty much able to handle coordination of the main pieces and personnel without needing to hire anyone else. He did a great job making the vision come alive and was transparent with any problems that arises (and importantly fixing them when necessary). He was friendly, fair with pricing, and also very quick-- framing and installation took only 2 separate, spread out days (to allow for drywalling and parts arrival in between). My personal experience with him in terms of communication was excellent, but I also purposefully avoided peak summer season so as not to catch him at a busy time. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

If I could give Javier 10 stars, I would. This is the second time I have used his service and I couldn't be more happier. I had another company put a zero entry shower in my master bedroom and it has been nothing but a mistake. It was not properly graded so water keep leaking under the glass door. Not just a little water, but a lot. For 2 years, I having dealing with this issue and could not find anybody to come out and redo the shower floor (to grate properly). Everyone I spoke to, said the job was too small and not worth their time. Javier to the rescue! My previous contractor said their was 2 box's of tile left over from the floor - stupid me never looked and when his guys asked me for the penny tile, the box had a few sheets but most of it was scrapes. With no time to run and get more, they saw another box from my other shower floor (pebbles) and between the two box's, had enough. They used my penny tile as the boarder and pebbles in the middle. How do we even start? Javier and his team are the absolute BEST in the business. Finding a contractor who is honest and knowledgeable is something hard and difficult to find. We've been working with Javier and his team for a couple months now, and we are extremely happy with all of the work and communication. Everything they have done for us has exceeded our expectations and we couldn't be happier! They truly made our first house feel like ours. We are so excited to continue to work with him and his team. Renovations to date: ripped up old tile and carpet & installed LVP throughout the first floor and upstairs bathrooms, painted fireplace, painted all cabinets throughout the house, installed new backsplash and countertops. They are on time, responsible, fast, EXCELLENT with detail, over the top customer service and have the best suggestions on any scope of a project someone might have. He most recently completed an upstairs remodel we needed done. We had all 4 of our bathrooms redone - demo of tile, new tile installed, new toilets, glass, fixtures, counters, tub, plumbing etc. Javier himself is a stand-up guy - transparent, hardworking, great attention to detail and a great communicator. And any crew he brought in brought the same work ethic and respect to the job. Everday guys showed up early and worked all day. I had an old partially rotting deck with damaged wood and places where it was actually unsafe. Javier and his crew at J&J have rebuilt where necessary and reinforced where applicable. The project is not complete at this point, there is a wait time before it can be painted/stained. I am very pleased with the new (unpainted/stained) deck. The work was completed in a timely manner, the quality great and the price was reasonable. The work site kept clean and neat. Communication with Javier and his crew was great. I couldn't recommend Javier and his team more! He helped us with a whole-home remodel, and he exceeded our expectations in every regard. The work was beautiful and of high quality and he started and finished on time. I can't imagine ever using another GC on a project. Javier and his team have been timely, detail oriented, respectful, patient and overall just super professional through this renovation project. With all the supply and demand delays/shortages and gymnastics in general Javier has worked extremely hard to make sure the job gets done and done right! Javier does a great job and knows how to do anything! He is prompt, professional and very reasonable. He has been doing work for us for years. He completely remodeled our master bath, painted the interior of our house, pressure washed and painted the exterior. Javier replaced some tile flooring with wood flooring in my house, and it was important that he match the surrounding wood flooring. He has an eye for beauty and detail, and my floor looks perfectly matched and beautiful. He let me know when he would arrive and he came on time and perfectly prepared. First just a note for Javier's communication: we had a storm coming so we had to postpone painting the outside of the house, Javier stayed in contact on how and when we would make our job happen. Zac Barger (our realtor who was also great) told us he knew of someone to take care of the work we needed on our home. "I've used them before. They do great work." He was right! Our home had foundation issues originally. We got them fixed (And a lifetime warranty to boot!), but if you saw all the cracks in our wall from the house shifting, you'd never know it. Luis, in no time, got the inside of our home to reflect the safe, brand new structure that we now had inside. He was polite, gave us a good price and paid attention to details (Our white paints were apparently not all the same shade, so he repainted them all for free. We paid for the paint, but he would have done that too since it wasn't in the original quote). He even called a week or so after the repairs were done to see how we were doing. They apparently fix fences and do a lot of other work (They offer interior and exterior painting, carpentry, fence and deck building/repairs, staining, flooring, counter tops and popcorn ceiling removal). Amazing experience, great detailed work and really reasonable prices. Hire them!

We received a vast range of estimates. While Alberto was not the lowest, he seemed both fairly priced and knowledgeable. We got a bit overwhelmed by all that we were planning and backed off of our project for a bit. Then it took us a while to find slabs that we liked for our new counters. Once we did, we were ready to move forward. It had been 5 months. When we circled back around, we called Alberto, as we had previously decided that he would be the contractor that we would hire. He didn't seem to mind our delay, although his estimate did increase some. To be fair, this is 2023 and inflation has been terrible. We hired Alberto and his team (Alba Construction) to drop a pony wall, square off an arch, redo that drywall and paint in that area, paint 2 large 2 story interior walls, demo our kitchen counters, demo 4 bathroom vanity counters, demo the kitchen backsplash (in preparation for new counters and new backsplash), cap a pot light and drywall over, install 2 new drop lights over the kitchen counter, and install a pot filler line. He had 5-8 different guys that he lined up for different days and they each had different specialties. They showed up when he said they would and they did their jobs cleanly and efficiently. Alberto was also here working and supervising a good amount of the time. They cleaned up after themselves and finished on time. Overall, we are happy and wouldn't hesitate to hire Alberto again.
