Went to Jjan last night, friends in town and my husband and kids highly suggested this place, they went there once without me, let me say my family didn't disappoint me, we ordered both pork belly with kimchi & with green onion, shake shake chicken, cheese corn, clay pot noodle and kimchi pancakes they are all very tasty, shake shake chicken & the clay pot noodle are my favourite, service is great as well, they also have happy hour and need to pay $5 for parking in the lot which my husband said last time they didn't have to maybe new policy or something, we are totally fine with it, but the only complaint is they let my friend paid the bill instead , we booked ahead of time but not too crowded due to weekdays I think, weekend should be packed according to my family who went last time, highly recommend read more

Was looking for a new Korean bar to try for a late night meal. JJAN did the trick. Service - 5/5 Waitstaff were upbeat and helpful. You can feel that they want customers to have a good time here. Really helped set the tone for the night. Unlike a lot of other places, they also had stools outside you can use while you're on the waitlist. Helped a lot. Ambience - 4/5 A lot of black paint with rainbow string lights. Great soundtrack. American sports on TV, the usual plethora of soju ad signs. Not what I'd call fancy, but positively screams "THIS IS A KOREAN BAR IN LA." Food - 4/5 Tried the rice cake chicken and spicy stir fry squid. Both very homey, straightforward dishes. The food here is delicious! My friend did say she felt like the icy beer was a little much but she did like the cider. I got the green onion pork belly and the seafood pancake both which were good. From the moment we walked into Jjan, we knew we had found the perfect Friday night spot. It's the classic Korean pub-style dive bar you crave after a long week. The staff were friendly and accommodating, always ready with suggestions and recommendations when asked. Appreciated especially since I'm still learning Korean dishes and recipes. Every meal we ordered was tasty and filling. Generous portions, one main could feed about 2-3 people. I highly recommend the pork belly with green onions, along with the kimchi pancake. Above all though, the Rose Spicy Rice Cake was my favorite. The creamy sauce with rice cakes and udon noodles was incredible. The right amount of spice carried this. I've tried similar dishes around K-Town, but Jjan has perfected it. Paired with drinks and good company, worth it. After having been to Korea at least 4 different times, I can honestly say that JJAN is the best Korean food I've ever had. Every item I've ordered has been incredibly seasoned and delicious! I love that not everything here is sweet. There's a lot of savory dishes and I've been here a couple of times and still have yet to try the whole menu. There's so much to choose from and it fits everyone's palate. The one thing my friends and I always get is the tteokboki rose chicken with ramen noodles and sausage and it hits every single time! We also get the 420 fries on occasion and those are fantastic as well. Recently, the group we were with ordered the pork belly with the green chives and while that was delicious as well, I prolly won't reorder it again. The shake shake chicken was fantastic tho! Already planning on ordering it again next time we're here The vibe inside is so cool, very ambiance. A little noisy at times but, it's a pub and it mimics very well the pocha pubs you'd find in Korea. The crowd is always a blast when we're here. The staff is super nice, super attentive. We came to this restaurant at around 7p and there were 7 parties before us. What funny was inside the restaurant was pretty empty. I was surprised how they didn't let people in, maybe short staffed? When we were in, we were served well and adequately. The online menu offered so many food, it was hard to choose. The happy hour occurs on the weekends too, 5-8p. - corn cheese 5/5. You can't really go wrong with corn cheese. The cheese was stringy. There was a hint of herbs (parsley or cilantro I forgot). -frozen beer 3/5 was interesting. The top foam is a beer slushy. I like original beer more though but it was fun to try. -large beef intestine 4/5. I have a love hate relationship with this. The intestines are crispy, and fatty, flavored well. But it was hard to find the intestines in a plate full of vegetables. -spicy pork skewer 5/5. It is dipped in Korean chili paste. And it was huge for $4 ish. I remember going to a Yakitori place and the pork belly was 4x smaller than this and the slices were thin. I was impressed about the portion. -spicy chicken 5/5 has the same flavor as the pork belly for $3.50, dipped in gochujang which was very spicy for me. But the portion was huge. -kimchi fried rice 3/5. I like how the fried rice was separated into different portion. I don't like the sausages though. They taste like regular hot dogs. -spicy pork belly bbq plate 4/5 was sweeter than the regular spicy pork skewer. I think if you order around 4-5 skewers, you'll get the same portion as this. Came here around 7 pm on a Saturday with a party of 4. Parking is free (which is rare in Ktown) There was a long wait (waited about an hour to get in). It gave intimate Korean pub vibe which was really cool. We ordered the kimchi pancake, cheese bath with spicy chicken, rose udon noodle dish and corn cheese, which were all really tasty. The downfall was the assorted skewer plate. I could have done a better job at understanding what's included in the assorted plate because it was really underwhelming. My brother ordered the apple ice beer which looked really unique and he said it tasted like a slushy. Definitely a great spot for a late night snack. The vibes here are great! Love how they have the decor setup with the colorful lights and the structures with the dark background, it feels like you're in the streets of Korea. The servers are also pretty attentive too, consistently monitoring the area and they are easy to call upon. I got the jeju orange cocktail and that was pretty good, it just tasted like juice so it's a bit dangerous haha! I also got the the rosé tteokbokki which I liked. The heat was great and I liked the inclusion of udon noodles and corn to it. The sauces was a bit on the thicker side, but it was better than being too watery. Got seated here immediately on a Thursday night! This place is great for drinking and just hanging out with friends after a long week. The apple frosted beer is delicious, I'd recommend stirring it together for the best taste. 420 Corn Cheese was also great, except the hot Cheetos that came on top of the dish were slightly stale. The steamed squid comes with three different dipping sauces. This dish comfortably fed me and my boyfriend. I do wish it came with vegetables to wrap the squid in. The green onion pork belly was probably the least favorite dish that we ordered, some pieces were burnt/overcooked/too dry. If you come here, definitely try the rose rice cake. It comes with corn, fish cake, sausage, and udon noodles. It is a mix of both creamy and spicy. This dish is definitely shareable amongst three people. I do think some menu items have prices that are a little steep, so that is probably what'd prevent me from coming back again. Stopped by after Anime Expo and they gave us a time estimate of 2ish hours since we had a group of 8. Thankfully another big group cancelled so we were able to take their reserved table. It's kind of dim inside so if you're blind like me definitely bring your glasses lol. Their happy hour menu was pretty good but only for a short amount of time. The pork belly with green onions is one of the best things I've eaten this year, and I am still dreaming about it. Never did it occur to me to make a green onion salad, after having green onion mainly as an internal ingredient or a garnish. The green onion's pungency cut through the delectable greasiness of the pork belly, and I am all about finding balance in my life. The service is really good, very friendly servers. The dark lighting is somewhat moody, and does lend the atmosphere of a gastropub. The restaurant has a really intimate feel because most of the tables aren't directly next to each other. I absolutely loved JJAN! At first, I thought it was closed, but it turns out you can only enter from the back. There's a nice big parking lot with plenty of free parking which is a big plus in Koreatown! I was there at about 5:45 pm on a Friday and there was just one other table of four there. By the time we left at 7:15 PM, it was packed and people were waiting for a table. I'm really glad we got there early because we had a nice cozy table in a corner. It was perfect because it was a first date! The only downside is I didn't like the music so much. Other than that, it was perfect. Our server was really pleasant. He took our drink orders and got the food out to us quickly. That was the only time we saw him, though. I had to track him down to settle the bill. Super nice guy, though. He was busy handling a lot of other things. We had the Spicy Rice Cake, $10.99, and the Seafood Pancake, $18.99. Both were delicious and the portions were plentiful. They have a happy hour menu but it's not very extensive. The beer deal is a liter pitcher of Coors Lite for $17. I had a Terra for $10.99 and my friend had rice wine on the happy hour menu for $10.99. When I was leaving, I saw they had frozen beer. Had I known, I might have tried it! I love the dark ambiance of the place with lights strung along the ceiling. Again, the only thing I didn't like was the music, but it got better when it was crowded because I could barely hear it. Ambiance is a classic Korean drinking house with an extensive food menu and every type of soju and Korean beer you can imagine. The crowd is young here and the atmosphere feels vibrant. It took awhile to get seated even though there were several tables available which is not typical for a Korean place. Once we were seated, the service was fine. The inside is kind of small, but decorated with cute lights all around the ceiling. The prices are great for what you get. They have happy hour, on certain food items and drinks. Everything we ate was delicious! We had the green apple frozen beer, soju, pork belly with green onions, kimchi pancake, corn cheese, spicy chicken, dumplings, and spicy rice cake. The parking is a bit challenging - they have their own lot but there are other businesses that occupy the spaces as well. And street parking... good luck!
