Almond Crusted Fresh Toast - so delicious. It doesn't even need the syrup

We have been here a lot and we have great meals and experience each time. I love getting the breakfast specials because a lot of time they are seasonal - like the pumpkin pancakes today! The food has a lot of flavor and tastes fresh! We mainly come for the breakfast food and there are a lot of options for everyone in your party. He have had great customer service each time as well. Come eat here!

Food was tasty, the avocado Benedict was delicious hollandaise sauce good taste to it. Customer service nice.

Jalapeño Bacon Burger. When they say fresh jalapeños, they mean BIG pieces. It was excellent. Good fries too!

Service is always great! Fast, friendly and attentive. I like the large menu offerings and the good coffee, which can be lacking in other restaurants. Their cinnamon rolls are a bit spendy but they are huge. This is my first time for lunch as I usually always come for breakfast. Good to know that lunch is as good as breakfast here. Remember to check out the specials before ordering because they post some good ones!

I never right reviews and I just have to. Disappointed. I loved jj's for years. Would tell my clients about it. Best basic breakfast in town. But today it was the service that left a horrible taste in my mouth. I came in at about 1:30 and picked a seat. No real greeting but whatever I was hungry. Sat down and ordered a water and coffee and already knew what I wanted. Avocado eggs Benedict no tomato and the eggs poached medium. Meaning I like them a lil more poached. But ofcorse still with the yolk able to run. Well when the plate was brought to me the server said nothing and went about her way. I noticed tomato. But was like whatever I can remove it if I want myself. I ate the first one and it was fine. Then I cut into the second one and a clear egg white goo bubble and ran down the food. I raised my hand to the server and said I'm sorry I can't eat this it's not cooked. I showed her clear as day. Looked like clear snot. She took the plate to the kitchen and in front of me in Spanish went back and forth about the egg in question. Then she waits a few minutes and says coldly he is makeing you another plate. I say Thankyou back and not a kind word acknowledging me or that duh it wasn't cooked. Then I get my plate and as if a fuck you the cook basically hard boiled the egg. At this point I'm like whatever I'm hungry atleast it's cooked. But the whole experience was bad service. I'm sick of spending my hard earned money in places that have this cold attitude towards customers. Like I'm not the enemy here. So disappointed i will not be going back. Bad vibes.

The food was good! I think it's pretty hard to mess up pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon however. The bacon was soft yet crispy and the pancakes were fluffy. The hash browns were also crisped that aren't pictured. The overall rating would've been at least four stars if the service wasn't so bad. Although they were busy, the lack of attentiveness was astonishing. I noticed a couple leave because they had been waiting to get their order taken for so long. Don't wait for the bill because you won't get it, so if you're ready to go, ask for it. If you have your card ready, bring it to them because they won't come back to service you.

Spectacular heavy cream biscuit with local Oregon strawberries and a lovely whipped cream, legit, not the aerosolized kind. I highly recommend starting your day with this. We also shared the shredded pork eggs Benedict. I liked it a lot, although I generally appreciate a bit more lemon taste in hollandaise sauce, but this hollandaise was so creamy, smooth and flavorful, I'm not mad. The breakfast potatoes served with this are very tasty - delightfully seasoned and perfectly cooked - crispy outside and fluffy inside. The coffee was very good. Our server, Jared B., was great; just enough interaction to be sure we had what we needed at all times, and as personable as he was efficient. Beautiful location that was spotless and comfortable.

We got here at 10am on a Monday, and every table was filled. It looked like they had numerous staff, but I would guess that the traffic level must be hard to manage. Perhaps because of this, my order of Sawmill breakfast was very poorly prepared. The gravy was luke warm at best. The eggs had the texture of frozen powdered egg that was just thawed. The biscuit was like a brick and hard to eat. I also saw numerous other patrons who were leaving their scrambled eggs untouched. The chicken tenders were warm and delicious, and the quiche was decent. Salad was probably the highlight. Besides that, I think the vibes inside the restaurant were very beautiful and memorable. Just unfortunate that the food was very sub par. I probably wouldn't recommend if you were trying to impress someone important.

The garlic fries were spicy in the best way, perfectly crisp, and served steaming hot. The Duck Stack (pancakes covered with duck gravy, onions, and a duck egg) sounded a bit odd to me (and probably many others). When I asked the server if it was good, they told me that people travel to the restaurant specifically for that dish. I'm glad I tried it. Again, very unique with a well balanced spice profile paired with the delicious undertones of a hot pancake. I know I would have never thought of that, doesn't sound like it should work, but....it worked! Service was great, atmosphere was a bit loud with a band playing next door, it was a bit overwhelming, plus a random dude walked into the restaurant and a server lit his joint for him as a courtesy(?)...stunk the place up for a few minutes, but as I thought about it, I decided that was about the most "Portland" thing I had seen all week on my trip :) I'll be going back for sure, I would love to taste through that entire menu. We had the coffee (Extracto, love.), I had a really good hef and my mother a very well balanced Bellini that I was very pleasantly surprised with trying. Vibe wise, the ambience is overall really nice. I think having rolled flatware, even with just upgraded napkins, would better complete the aesthetic you initially see and feel. This would also connect with the price point of the food and quality of the beverages. As a fellow server, on that note I would expect more consistent stronger visual appearance standards with servers. (Sorry guys! But some of you looked great!) Overall, I'd definitely join a friend for coffee and lunch over there in the future. Just wouldn't be my top pick for a celebratory brunch or intimate dinner with a date or friends and fam.
