A nice little restaurant. The service was friendly. The menu is full of diner comfort favorites. I had the JJ's Scramble. I had them leave out the potatoes and was still only able to eat a third of it. It was quite good. My partner got the meat lovers scramble and must have liked it as there was nothing left! My only downside is that I didn't care for the coffee. Ah well, I'm sure there are people that will think I'm crazy and love the coffee. I'd come again. read more

Yelper's, you got us good. This is not a 4 plus star restaurant. I had the chicken fajita omelet. Sounds good, right? Picture chicken fajitas in an omelette! Yeah, it wasn't even close. Spouse had Chilaquiles with chorizo. The meat cost extra. The server asked how she wanted her eggs. We'll never know how those were because the dish came without the eggs. Due to a non-related spitting on her food incident she will not send food back. She said it was delicious none the less. My gripe is we were charged extra for the chorizo but got no eggs. I asked for no cheese on my omelette. It came with. I sent mine back because I can't eat cheese. My dish was bland and cheese would not have helped. It would just have added 300 calories. Two dishes. Both wrong. You decide. Personally, I'd go elsewhere. There are a LOT of restaurants in Portland. read more

While running errands I saw two women waving signs for the grand opening of JJ's. I decided to give it a shot. Being open for a few hours they team was very efficient. I went with the Reuben sandwich and a salad for take out. The food was made fresh and was put together decently. The salad was bigger than I expected for lunch, which was a great surprise. It was fresh with large 1/4 cut tomatoes. The reuben sandwich was a nice size and typically reuben taste. The decor was COVID ready with the chairs spaced 6 feet apart. The music was just being piped in from Spotify. Opening at the end of a pandemic is brave! If they continue to cook like they did for me they will survive. read more

Edit to add: I hope management catches wind of this unprofessionalism. In my 8 years of management or even back in food service if you got a bad review or didn't "get 5 or 10 stars" you ate it. You accepted that it was a bad review and moved on. You didn't write a novel to the customer directly. I'm attaching screenshots I blurred most out due to secondhand embarrassment for the employee reaching out on their own behalf to explain themselves. I did not read this message nor do I intend to as it's in. the. past. This update is to hopefully notify management that you have employees going out of what in my opinion (my opinion, take it or leave it, you decide) is highly inappropriate for a cashier/server to be reaching out for reviews. That is something the owner/MOD handles. Never someone personally involved. It's thick and juicy, the veggies are crisp, the cheese is fully melted, the avocado is fresh, the bacon is thick cut. Had to come here after seeing all the great Yelp reviews. We had a good experience and enjoyed the food. We tried a variety of things - french toast, ham, eggs, breakfast sausage, and a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was a let-down as it was pretty dry and didn't have much icing on it. Also, the server wasn't very familiar with the food and didn't have recommendations. While the food was solid, I wasn't blown away so I probably won't feel the need to return with so many other breakfast places in town to try out. read more

I wanted to like this place, as Yelpers suggested it, but it just wasn't very good in any way. Tables full of dishes, understaffed, and the staff sho are on are mediocre at best. The food: I got a Ham Benedict and cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was huge, nearly the size of the plate! That would have been exciting if it tasted good. It was room temp and not worthy of more than a bite. It was dry and tasteless, what a disappointment. The benedict was 100% forgettable in every way. read more

Whoa!!! Cinnamon roll?? More like cinnamon give you rolls. Quite possibly the largest freaking cinnamon roll on earth. Pleasantly soft and superrrrr sweet, guaranteed to make a little kid go insane. We have visited JJ's 3 times now and everything has always been delicious and very reasonably priced. They don't look like anything special from the inside or outside but they honestly have some of the best classic American breakfasts of anywhere nearby. They also do great take-out if you are feeling eating at home. Try the corned beef or classic ham Benedict and one of their omelettes served with a 3 stack of pancakes! Another great breakfast joint for the SW area! CFS was awesome! Pancakes awesome! Extra crispy hash brown were actually extra crispy without being burned! Biscuits and gravy were inhaled by my son! JJ's Caffe is off the beaten path, and really good! The portions are large and fairly inexpensive! Definitely worth the stop! We had a burger, club sandwich and a side salad! The burger came with a generous portion of fries. The side salad was borderline the size of an entree salad. The club sandwich was huge! Everything had good flavor and totally filling! At the time of our visit, we were the only people in the restaurant. It was quiet and easy to hold a conversation. The staff was very friendly and kept our drinks filled. Randomly stumbled upon this place months ago and decided to give it a try. We remembered our food being great but the service took forever. We decided to come back and were very disappointed. It took close to 15 minutes for a server to take our order, then we waited an additional 20 minutes after ordering for our food to arrive. Our pancakes were delicious, the biscuit and gravy were good, but barely had any gravy on it so we had to try to get the attention of a server to get more. The avocado eggs Benedict was alright. The hollandaise was amazing, but the avocado was not ripe and the potatoes were slightly undercooked. I doubt we will come back. The wait is not worth the food. read more

Ordered ham Benedict and husband ordered pancakes. His pancakes were raw, server brought new ones and neither my husband or I liked the flavor. The ham Benedict tasted like smoked ham which over powered the taste of the hollandaise and the red potatoes had no seasoning except the pepper and onion. The server was more interested in keeping his back to the customers doing side work than waiting on us and other customers had to flag him down to place their order. Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall is this tiny little gem. We stopped in for a mid-morning breakfast and were not disappointed! The restaurant is spacious and clean, well lit without being too bright. Our server was polite and to the point. We ordered the ham Benedict and chicken fried chicken. Both were prepared nicely, both with perfectly cooked eggs and side potatoes that were cooked through and delightful. House made biscuits that my wife rate as some of the best in Portland. And she's tried a lot of them, so you should listen to her! We didn't have beverages with our breakfast, but I imagine they're just as pleasant as the food was.
